Industrial Design is probably a pretty tough field to break into. I imagine it takes a lot of work and effort to even get your portfolio looked at these days, let alone find a job, especially these days. So if you're lucky enough to get a prospective employer to take a glance at your work, you definitely want something that's going to stick in the mind of that person, you know? Something that truly stands out.

Like, for instance, a prosthetic tentacle arm.

Designed for a class project while getting her degree at the Industrial Design Department at the University of Washington, Kaylene Kau has not only exploded perceptions of how prosthetic arms should look, but sent an entire subset of Japanese Hentai fans to their feet, cheering her on. If that's not worth an employer's attention, I don't know what is. Good luck designing the future, Kaylene!

If I were a skeezier person, I would say probably say:

"Rule 34"

Interesting. I wonder how Jim Abbot would handle this playing baseball.

"But sent an entire subset of Japanese Hentai fans to the feet cheering to her on"? Was that translated to Japanese and back to English?

I think it would work better as a finger instead of a whole arm.

The only parts of that quote I find wrong is "the" should have been changed to "their", and the "to" between "cheering" and "her" should be omitted.

However, being that Woot! is run by geeks with a decent sense of humor, I would say this was deliberate Engrish.

I'm willing to bet DocOck fans are already severing limbs from their bodies in anticipation of these replacements.

This reminds me of an entertaining game I've played called Octodad. Google it. It's pretty amazing.
