seems like a great idea for home security. The hidden camera won't always stop (or catch) a burglar, but seeing themselves projected live onto the wall might scare 'em off.

I don't care if it DOES look like Wall-E , I've been meaning to get a projector for years and now seems as good as ever.

This EyeClops Mini Projector could be great combined with new services for free live cable TV programing through the internet. If you are technical type that knows how to work the hookups for your mobile device or computer.

Loved the write up.

Did NOT love the incessant and not yet deleted references to Wall-E.

Loved that movie, btw.

gantec wrote:I've been debating whether or not to buy one of these for some time now. I know the video quality isn't great, but what I really want to know is whether or not it would work very well for displaying PowerPoint presentations.

I just need a projector for light home office use, and if this will fit the bill, then I don't want to spend hundreds for such little use. On the other hand, if it isn't going to work for me, then I don't want to waste any money that could go into the digital projector fund.

I'm not speaking from personal experience so this is just a semi-educated guess...

If you plan to use this just for practicing PowerPoint presentation, it would probably be okay (although why wouldn't you just do it using a computer screen?). The room has to be very dark. But don't count on it for an actual presentation because the resolution is so low and the light is so dim. I doubt if any text would be legible if you don't already know what it written.

Perhaps worst of all is the fact that it has no easy way to connecting to your computer. There is no VGA, DVI or HDMI input. In fact, it's even missing SVHS. You'll need a bunch of converters and cables to output from a laptop.

You might consider the two projectors I listed in this post. One of them is under $100. Both have built-in video players (from SD card) so you can play PowerPoint presentations by converting them into videos, and pausing during playback to simulate a slide presentation.

jneong wrote:Don't do it! NOOOOOO! I purchased this "projector" from Woot a few months ago just for a laugh, considering such a good price. I wish I hadn't. It's not the 320x240px resolution that kills me, its the completely uneven color and tone in the projected image that is exponentially worse toward the corners. It feels like you're looking at an old CRT sitting next to two big unshielded bookshelf speakers.

I cannot stand to watch even a minute of Netflix or any media from it. I wouldnt subject any children to this lack of definition or color accuracy either. Even for $0. Sorry woot. I love you.

My guess is that it uses a plastic lens, which is much cheaper to make (by simply pouring resin into a mold) than glass lenses (which must be ground).

I bought this in the woot off a couple of weeks ago. I paid about $5 more I think, but I would keep away at any price. This is complete and total garbage. Even in complete darkness the image is just horrible. If you want to be able to make anything out you need to keep the size under 30 or so inches.

Yes its cheap and yes its a projector, but even at $25 its not worth it.

My sister got one of these on a previous woot, without my knowledge, unfortunately. Best price online, and it shipped fast, no complaints there. However, the product itself leaves me unimpressed.

According to her it works as it said it would and she was pleased, but I'm not convinced. She took it out of the box once to see that it worked, and after that it's just been in the box collecting dust in the living room.

I think that this projector may entertain young children who don't know what resolution is, or care, but beyond that is not something to get your hopes on.

Bottom line: this is a child's toy.

My first quality post was about the Pokedex. Awesome.

Yeah, and even more important for presentations, text seems completely illegible -- as evidenced by the opening green "THE FOLLOWING PREVIEW HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR ALL AUDIENCES" frame.

On the other hand, the AAXA P1 seems decent enough to consider its sibling, the AAXA P1Jr, which is available for $94.99.

Thanks for linking the YouTube video.

Will this work with a Mac,No it is not an iProjector.

It will work with a mac. As long as you have the mini dvi to av cords you will be able to hook your baby up. Right now I am playing a movie on my x-box 360 through the eye-clops. I bought mine last December when it was still $100. It hasn't given me any issues other than the sound being really really weak. I hooked up the eye-clops to my i-home (with subs) and this little thing really does a good job of being a home theatre for REALLY cheap. The only other issue is that the room has to be relatively dark in order for the projector to work its best. I usually only use it at night, but for someone to choose to use it during the day would need to make a dark room. Hope this helps!!

in for one to try making an interactive multitouch display.

Anybody know where to get replacement lenses made of glass?

And for the record, I don't think it looks like a Waste Allocation Load Lifter - Earth-Class at all. Unless it comes packed with a cricket.

This little guy surpassed all of my expectations. Its far from great, but I didn't expect it to be watchable. No good for modern games as they are too dark. Its ok for NES type games that are brightly colored, but I still don't recommend it. We project movies from our headboard onto the ceiling and it really does the job great for what you are paying for it. We bought it for the kids, but looks like we are keeping it.

I can only think of one real use for this, where the viewer won't complain: To entertain babies lying in a crib with a ceiling projection. It won't matter if the images are vvery dim or indistinct, as long as there are moving pretty colors. Consider it a virtual giant mobile. I can even see it as an educational tools when projecting ABCs and 123s.

Maybe somewhere in your home, perhaps in some dark corner, there exists a portal to Hell, and occasionally, the embers of the Damned fly out in anguish, raping a smoke detector...?

Just a guess.
