Will this work as a regular HDD for a computer?

Eh, since the new Xbox 360 came out, the use of the older hard drive is going to be significantly less. Oh well, if there is someone out there to buy it, I'm sure Woot will find them.

Pretty sure there's a 2.5" HDD in there.

Just went out and dropped 320 bucks on a new 360 because I wanted a new hard drive which was 129 and walmart had a 75$ gift card with a new xbox.

Best deal I've ever seen for one this size. Especially if it includes the transfer kit. And Xmas shipping for $5? Hell yes.

I got a 120 and it is much better than the 20 mine came with. I got like 11 Gigs left and download a lot of movies from the marketplace. Makes me sad that that was $175 a couple years ago. Now this one is twice as big for $50....Might just HAVE to upgrade at that price.

Keep in mind that lots of the cheaper ones you can find,especially on eBay, aren't genuine. That is, they took a laptop hard drive and did all the dirty work to make it compatible with a 360. You can do this process yourself, but it requires the special cable, some software, and the know-how. Also, you won't get any kind of warranty with the ones on eBay.

These, however, are the "real thing." If you are on the edge because of cheaper knock offs on eBay, I would bite Woot's offering.

there is an included transfer cable.
one end into your old hdd
the other end into your xbox with the new hdd connected.. shazam

Before I got the Xbox 360 Slim, I bought one of these refurb-ied from a popular video game sto(p)re for about triple this price. It was a good investment for the time, and it still works great in my room mates console.

In case you were wondering, this works in all versions of Xbox 360's except the new Slim (Black glossy) consoles.

Cheaper than the knock-off drives from Buy.com market sellers (about $65, generally). Not bad for a branded, licensed drive if you need it.

My Xbox360 has a 60GB drive, and I've hardly touched it. I guess if you download a lot of games and/or movies from the Marketplace, this is better than buying a new Xbox with a bigger drive.

And yes, you can transfer your old drive to this one. They sell a transfer cable on amazon for $13 or so.

funny this comes up as i actually disassembled my roommates old RROD'd xbox 360 harddrive earlier today.

regarding the question if this will work on a regular PC, you can actually take it apart and inside is a SATA laptop drive, so technically, you can.

This is a great deal. Would made a solid Christmas gift, I do believe. And its appears it has the ultra-shipping, so getting it by then might be doable. But why megaship for this, and not the not-a-snuggies? I think the two would have gone quite well together under the tree.

even after taxs with the transfer cable this is still a steal. And its new. wow. Woot went all out on this one.

This will work in the new 360 slim perfectly. All you need to do is take it apart and snap the bare hard drive into the SATA port in the new console. Look it up, it's true. My old 120GB works perfectly in my new Xbox 360 Slim.

$121.50 at Amazon, 4 stars, so far not finding answers for others trying the hard drive on its own (although this seems expensive for a stand alone generic hard drive--edit: in comparison, I know that you're paying as much for having it work with the system including the pre-loaded stuff), and comments that Microsoft didn't make the hard drive itself:

It will take a little work, but you can rip the HD out of this and put it in a Slim. There are video tutorials all over Youtube.

What's great is that this actually comes with the transfer cables needed to sling your old data to the new HDD. The cable and software alone cost $20 if you bought it by itself.
