Why look at more expensive priced ons? The point is to find the LOWEST price for the same item. Also all you had to do was click on the sellers other items link on that auction to see all the others available for $30.99 that are still active.

Just bought one for my new slim model. All you have to do to use it in the slims, is remove the outer case from the drive, remove the hard drive cover from the 360, and plug in the drive. Wad up a couple of pieces of electrical tape and put on each side of the hard drive to give it stability.

Yes I have been on Xbox Live since the beginning, but I bought a copy of Halo 2 which was one of the Xbox games that should play on a 360. I keep getting an error message that it isn't compatible with the 360. I read somewhere that it may because the refurbed hard drive is not partitioned correctly for old Xbox games. I'm figuring if this drive is brand new it should work.

One thing no one is commenting on is with this 250 gig you can copy a lot of your games that you are playing lately, no you can just play off the hard drive, you still need the disk but the saving of wear from the DVD drive is worth the price itself vie replaced many friends DVD drives that wore out, plus loading a game from the hdd is faster. 250 for 50 bucks plus 5 is a bargain even if break it open and us it for a laptop

This is a great deal on a useful item for sure. I'm glad to see one on woot again finally. It's been awhile. In for one for my son and his 360. His 120GB HDD I bought for him way back when was well over twice the cost of this woot.

I also used coupon code OFIDIOCY for an extra $5 off. I never used it and it has no expiration date. So I get free shipping on top of the awesome bargain. w00t!

Just so you know you can no longer play Halo 2 matchmaking, they shut the servers down earlier this year. But you should still be able to do single and local multiplayer. As for the refurbished thing I'm not too sure.

There are a lot that are even cheaper, just a question of trusting that it's the exact same product when getting it (particularly from overseas). I won't add to Blacksunshine420's concerns, and I was not trying to make it personal, just make sure we all have the whole picture. Good night.

Edit: One last thing. See the earlier posters on the eBay concerns that the moderator posted under quality posts, including http://www.woot.com/Forums/ViewPost.aspx?PostID=4285738

So you can use this to store "hundreds" of HD movies and shows, according to the text...

Given that the average HD movie is in the 5gb - 8gb range, with many that are twice that size, I'm really curious as to how that's gonna work out.

You can store hundreds of HD movies, sure. One at a time! Okay, okay, maybe thirty at a time... but "hundreds"? Somebody at woot needs to re-take that math class.

I'd bet the ebay ones are not genuine microsoft. Even so, it's really just a fancy enclosure with a microsoft proprietary sata connector. As long as the drive is a decent brand, they should be fine.

I'm not so sure. IIRC, when I put a WD120 in my 360, I had to reflash the drive bios with a special version so that the xbox would mount it. A laptop drive controller may not see it correctly.

Any 250GB hard drive plugged directly into an xbox can't use its total capacity because 22GB will be occupied by system files.

Nooooooo. The connect uses a small drive that fits internally. This is one of the top mounted harddrives and will not work on any of the xbox 360S series (aka the Kinects verison)

I didn't bother to read through all the comments but this actually can be used in the new slims. The new slims have a standard SATA laptop drive connector, so if you're ballsy enough to take the casing for the original 360 off of the drive you can slip this unit into the slim, It doesn't sit as fancy as one of the drives MS sells for the slims but it's properly 360 formatted and can indeed work on the new slims providing you can take the external casing apart.

It's been almost a year since I snag something from woot, This is a great deal. I'm in for two. I was planning on buying the new 360 bundle with the connect, the HDMI, and the 250GB drive. This will tie me over with my current Xbox360. Great deal. Wish they had $30.00 controllers for the 360.

I've seen these at one website before, but they were not the Official Microsoft-licensed ones...so arguably this deal is better (which is why I'm in for one even though my HDD is 250GB already). If you're on the fence about it, consider that there are over 100 full games available on Xbox live for download, believe me, you want the space!

I'm concerned about the "90 Day Woot Limited Warranty." From past experience, this is the wording/warranty that usually accompanies refurbs on Woot.

I remember the fiasco with a camcorder a while back - I think it was a JVC - that Woot listed as new. Some were suspicious because the warranty was a 90-day Woot warranty (and because one of the photos appeared to have a "refurbished" sticker on the product!). Sure enough, when the sun came up, suddenly the product description was changed to Refurbished.

What to do...

They give you a transfer kit! you would simply put the disc in and plug the cable into the new hard drive on one end (not in the xbox) and the console on the other (Usb!). I've done it before, and the picture of the item shows it comes with it (otherwise, you have to get it separately, as I had to...20 bucks...) this is such a deal!
