Where did you find them cheaper? If you buy 3, you get 6 for $20. That works out to around $3.33 a bottle including shipping and tax in most states.

Amazon wants $11.99 plus shipping unless you buy $25 or more of items that qualify.

Someone already said that they were made in China. They said if was hard to find any that were not made in China.

I would like to know this as well. I assume no as the cap looks to be plastic.

If you own a car, you're a hypocrite. Even if you have a car that doesn't use sensors made in China (good luck), the chassis is still made of steel from China. China makes ~45% of the world's steel, we don't even make 5%. Chinese steel is used in all US cars.

Right, so you are helping me make my point, can't get away with buying a car with parts that aren't from China, but I can find water bottles made in the USA, besides, I make my own cars.

I purchased a whole set of these for the family with the greatest of intentions, "No more plastic bottles for me and my family! Only Eco-Friendly aluminum canteens filled with tap-water.. from a hose no less! Naturally chlorinated and fluoridated by the Gods themselves.."

((Two days pass))

Alas, they are not self-filling and they did make funny noises, (until I swallowed the little tabs, I think) but that was okay, it was when the carabiners broke when I roped myself into our climbing wall out back and it gave way, causing me to fall 30ft to the pea gravel below.. ouch.. so, buyer beware or for you Latinos in the theater tonight, "caveat emptor"!

Bought two the last time they were offered. Similar price. These are terrible for regular use. Plastic gasket in lid got lost in the dishwasher and before it chirped like everyone else mentioned. Cannot believe these guys were able to sucker people out of $30+ when they first came out. Junk. Junk. Junk.

Going to echo everyone else, my parents bought some the last time Woot offered them. Was an okay enough bottle, though the noise the seal made was ridiculous. However, after a few weeks of use the seal fell out and I put it back in, but for whatever reason it didn't work properly after that and leaked if it wasn't upright.

It's a decent enough bottle, but will definitely leak.

Cyclists may want to remember that these being steel, they're magnetic. If they rattle around in your holder, a couple of neodymium magnets and a little epoxy or some other good strong bonding agent and you should be good to go, so to speak.

Some stainless steel is magnetic, some isn't. Unless they say what alloy, we don't know.

You can boil water in them, but of course remove the plastic lid first. I also wouldn't directly expose it to flame to keep from distorting the shape of the bottle. Hang it over a camp fire, it would be fine. You can boil water in plastic using the same method, by the way.

Pretty much a basic nalgene type re-usable water bottle. Its a good price for two, I feel like I paid double that for just one at a local sporting goods store for mine. I can't stand the nipple thingy in the top. I just unscrew to drink from it. Stoopid metal loop on mine broke too, but I use a small key-chain carabiner. It's more convenient than the ring anyway.

The best "pro" of these over the plastic ones is the stainless steel tends to "hold tastes" less. Perfect for the college student who wants to use it for water during class, jack and coke come weekend and sports drinks for a hike. Almost no cross-contamination of flavors.

Edit: Really WOOT! I can't comment that something is unintelligent? If something is Jatravartid, I wanna be able to call it Jatravartid damn it!

Watch out!

90% of the world's stainless steel comes from India, and that SST is known to be radioactive.

Check to see if this is made in the USA, where the stainless steel produced is not radioactive.

Plus, any reduction of your carbon footprint stemming from not drinking regular bottled water would be offset by FedEx delivering this thing to your door.

I honestly don't know what you all do to yours. I bought six the last time around and have dropped mine repeatedly, denting it in numerous places, left it full in freezing weather, bouncing around in my car and have had NO problems whatsoever. Just lucky, I guess.

Let's see...China alone last year produced 35.7% of the stainless, the rest of Asia produced 27.1%. Where do you get 90% from?

And as for radiation, it's usually from Sr-90 poisoning of recycled scrap from the accidental use of steel from nuclear power plants. It's very rare and since there's only one nuclear power plant in India, it's very unlikely that it would come from there. They don't replace turbines very often.

Yeah! And if you buy Chinese food from Chinese people you're a hypocrite. In fact, unless you buy everything from Americans, you're a hypocrite. The only two possible economic theories are isolationism and "sell ourselves blind to chinese junkers."

Uh... NO. Unless you want to burn your hand off Do not put hot liquids in a metal water bottle. I was given one at a conference and my friend put hot coffee in it. It burned my hand pretty good. SO not only will it not boil water, it will not hold any hot liquids

Thanks for providing part of my evening entertainment, woot!

I wanted to know if these were made in China, so before I even read the comments here, I ran a Google search and saw complaint after complaint regarding the shady company that marketed these. Didn't find the answer regarding country of origin until coming back here, though I kind of assumed most everything is made in China unless I can find any statements otherwise.

Anyway, the complaints posted at multiple sites painted a picture of such a shady company that it would almost be worth buying a couple of these bottles to toast to the demise of such an awful company, it seems likely that this is quite possibly part of the liquidation of what's left of their inventory.

Ok, have to ask. Why would you want to boil water in these? Not judging, I actually want to know. I would imagine it would not be a good idea to handle these while there is boiling water in them. Another wooter said he/she almost won a darwin award for that one.
