Apple probably fixed that when they refurbed them. That is why there is little price difference from a new one. People bought them, had the problem out of the box, and returned it for another which they may have also returned.

These weren't refurbished by Apple. Apple puts new cases on their refurbs and gives a one-year warranty.

I bought this last month when woot had it. I'm really happy with it. 8GB may be too small for some people, but I don't store music on it. I just downloaded a free app with 30,000 radio stations, grouped by type of music I want to hear. The picture quality for watching movies is a huge leap over earlier models.

For those of you willing to set foot in an actual store, Target has these this week for $225, you also get a $25 gift card, while Amazon is showing a "best deal" of $210, you get the iPod and a $10 gift card. So, hmm, let me see, a refurb from woot for $195 shipped, or a new one elsewhere for $200? Is that even a question?

Target has it for $225 with a bonus $25 gift card. Good luck selling a refurb for $10 more than the new product...

At first I had a serious "Dohhh" moment. I just bought the 32 GB yesterday. But even after one day with this amazing device (despite iTunes) I would be convinced that 8 GB just won't cut it. This is a mini computer, not just a music player.

Sorry woot, but people are better off with the 32 GB.

I have the 8GB model and really like it. I use it for the apps, games, Wi-Fi web surfing (ebay, amazon, dealnews), book reader (kindle app), Pandora, etc. One of the really cool features is that I can make free text messages and free phone calls (Wi-Fi only of course), this is a really cool app. I can make phone calls in places where no one else can (small cities that do not have cell phone coverage but do have Wi Fi).

The size (8GB) is fine for me, i still have plenty of space available. But then again i am not using this for music or videos.

Funny though, I do NOT use this as a mp3 player, for that I still use my Sansa Fuze. I still prefer the drag-n-drop feature of the Fuze, its small size, FM radio, and the buttons (even though one guy here thinks that is amusing). But with buttons I can change the channel or music while the player is still in my pocket (i do not have to look at it).

Yet another BS deal from WoAmazon!

Since when does Apple refurbs come with scratches?

Since when do they come with 90day warranties?

This site is loosing it's crediability faster than a dropping anchor!

We know it lost it's dignity when it sold out, well anyway, this is no deal, it's a risk!

meggggs wrote:I have a first generation iTouch that I bought a little over 3 years ago. Apple constantly upgrades the firmware of their iTouches, currently I think the firmware is at version 4.0. However, Apple released a statement saying that they would NO LONGER support firmware upgrades for their first generation iTouches, meaning I am unable to upgrade the firmware on my $300+ product I bought 3 years ago. This sucks because most of the 'apps' that I use are starting to be made to work ONLY with the current firmware, so I am no longer able to use these apps or future apps. For that reason, I will NEVER buy another Apple product. I have no doubt that they will do the same thing again. They purposefully stopped supporting their first generation product in an effort to force people to go out and buy the fourth generation.

I'm not disagreeing with what you said, but some apps will work fine as long as you don't upgrade them. I've found that, for free games at least, most of the upgrades are just to add new ways of serving ads to me.

I dont know if there has been talks about cases but I know the perfect case, and it has worked for me since i bought it. Its the otterbox, they make the best cases. They arent too pricey, but whenever i find something i like to expensive, you should try ebay or amazon. I prefer the defender series. It basically puts 2 layers of protection on your ipod. It has the plastic case that goes around your ipod, than another silicon shield that goes around that. It is very easy to install and dropping your ipod is a worry of the past. If anyone has specific questions please feel free to pm me. Also this case can look like it makes the ipod water proof but it is not.

When contacteded, Apple confirmed this.

Or you could by a brand new 32GB Zune for the same price, get the same features, and not have to worry about getting a bad unit or, best of all, not have to use crappy-ass iTunes!

One thing I should mention. My son bought a new 8 GB Touch and 11 months later, he couldn't get the left channel via the headphone jack. He took it to the Apple store in our local mall, and they replaced it, no questions asked.

sdallnct wrote:While I think the latest Touch is a great (maybe the best iPod yet), I just don't think 8GB is practical unless you really enjoy moving stuff around a lot.

You will not get 8GB of storage. Remember the iOS will take up close to 2GB. So you will have a little more than 6GB for storage.

Considering you can store movies, pic's, music, audio book, books, pictures, etc....and that is before you even get to the apps....

Again, love the Touch. But think 8GB is really to small for this device.

I have to disagree...8GB is plenty, as long as you're not storing your entire music collection on here. I find anything more than 32GB completely absurd for storage purposes.

For reference, I have a 16GB iPhone and I have only used 6GB. This is what I currently have on my phone:

207 songs (~10 hours of music. You need more than that at one time?! Okee doke.)

3 videos

279 photos

79 apps

As you can see, as long as you're capable of figuring out how to make playlists that can keep you occupied for a few weeks at a time, 8GB is more than enough.

tl;dr- 8GB is just fine and dandy.

I like my ipod touch but before you laugh at mp3 with buttons, have you tried working out with an ipod touch? I prefer my shuffle (with buttons) when i run or bike. Sometimes "simple" works better.

EDIT: I'm reading target's sunday ad. It's on the front page 225 with 25$ gift card, like others posted before me.

$195 for a refurb that may come with cosmetic flaws. NO THANKS.

Firts off, I don't know what all the hype is for this thing. My daughter has one and besides games and other apps I'd do the same with an MP3 player. For games and apps I have my DROID smart phone, which more often than not people have.

Just a few months ago Apple was offering the previous generation for $145 shipped. Give it a few moths and you will see current gen refurbs in their site.
