It has been a team sport for some time.An owner may have 2 or more cars in a race and they would help the better car reach the front. The difference now is because of safer cars and tracks as well as better engineered cooling systems they can run like that where as before they could not run bumper to bumper for very long, as matter of fact they were forbidden to do so for safety reasons.
There is also the downside as Maggie points out that because of the improvements they have lessened the disaster factor which has lowered the reason that many watch the sport in the first place. This new way of racing increases the potential for big wrecks but I believe can only be used effectively on newer sufaced smoothed out tracks.

It's like everything else, it's all about the money and the more "danger factor" the more fans will watch hoping something bad will happen. Someone will be killed and they'll have to think of something else.

pooflady wrote:So if a stable has two horses in a horserace, one should run in front of the other?
Without going into a breakdown of the whole business structure of pro racing the short version is:
There can only be one winner. Usually one car/driver combination is working better on a given day than another. The owners make their money based on sposorship and sponsors make their money on advertising value being associated with a winner and the camera time given to the winning vehicles during a race. The more camera time the higher a premium can be demanded for advertisement with the owner's car/driver. Multiple car/drivers are hedging the bet with more potential money making winning franchises.

I'd love to know your favorite apps though.
I have the scanner app, metal detector, bubble level are some of my favorite novelty apps.
I use the covert anything to anything (temps measurements etc.) most though. I got tired of doing them mentally.

ConvertPad
So far it seems to do what I need it for.
