I have the black, silver, and gold ones... Why not green too!! In for one set.
Looks radioactive! Many apologies to any Japanese citizen reading my comment....
I have some, they are really entertaining to play with and make great gifts. Keep in mind, these might be hard to get replacements for since they are green.
Falkon wrote:Been itching to get a set of magnetic balls (no brand loyalty yet!) for quite some time. Couldn't pass up a pair, and in green no less. In for 1, and pretty excited!
Above is one of the few ways one can have "itching" and "balls" in the same sentence without offending anyone. That said, I may have to get a set so I can spending St. Patty's day playing with my green Irish (magnetic) balls.

ICP jokes? How do they work?
dhillenb wrote:THESE REALLY ARE DANGEROUS! If you, your child, or your pet swallows one of these, seek immediate medical attention. Read how a thirteen-year-old girl used a couple of magnetic balls to pretend she had a tongue piercing...and nearly died as a result: http://preview.tinyurl.com/MagneticBallBearings (or search the web for "magnetic ball danger") I'm mostly concerned with someone buying these now, and sometime in the future, a kid finds them and swallows some of them.
some people, mostly Jatravartid people, have to learn the hard way.

wow is that for real? Looks like i won't be buying buckyballs from a greedy, egotistic, sue happy, company set on crushing the competition to keep a monopoly. Oh crap! now I guess they will sue me for libel. Why not go after woot/amazon for having this comment hosted on their site. After that go after google/youtube for hosting that video.
Zen Magnets are way better than Buckyballs. Make sure to watch this video.
My husband is Irish and 5'4". He doesn't get enough leprechaun jokes, now he is going to be in his office playing with his little green balls.
purplefeather wrote:I'm slightly confused about these. What do they do?
If you really want to see what magnet spheres are capable of, should check out gallery.zenmagnets.com. They take things pretty seriously over there. Also magnetspheres.com for all brands.
riocobra wrote:Not to gripe, but wouldn't these have made a bit more sense to offer over a week ago? Ok, maybe I'm trying to gripe just a little. But making a green top hat kinda loses some of the fun over a week after St Patrick's Day.
that is EXACTLY what I was thinking.. what good are these to order ON SPD. not excited!♠ not getting them.. and really you can get all colors in these magnets and MUCH CHEEPER without the Zen Magnet/Neocube/Buckyball marketing or name brand. Zen actually gives you want you pay for without all the chipping so for the money google the colorful ones and youll find better prices and larger quantities! good luck.. Im over it..
I have a set of the basic silver Buckyballs. They're fun to mess around with but the outer coating has chipped off on every single ball. I would imagine, after time, the green Buckyballs won't look so hot. Since this isn't really a deal on price, I don't think they're worth the buy. Just my $0.02
And its not even Tuesday
i suppose like the black set I got off of here these will fade to a very lightly tented greenish silver color.. Ill pass!
Totally in for a set due to the green color being like a poison dart frog's coloring so it's like it's own warning not to eat it.

It's still Tuesday on the west coast.
So excited to order these for my husband. He has been trying to convince me it was a great idea at Brookstone for $30 for 1 set. Awesome price and he will be tickled...green I guess.
Ohhhhhhhh. I get it. They're green. Because it's St. Patrick's Day. Hey, Woot! even got in on the theme and has their banner all green. And all the banners around the site are green. Oh no wait, those are always like that aren't they.
As chip-prone as these things are, I suspect that green is going to really put the "limited" in limited edition. Happy Irish fella running snakes off an island (that hasn't had snakes on it for about 10,000 years anyway, feh) day. I'll take any excuse to drink in this economy.
Well that was rather interesting. Thanks for the link.

No...it's not. It's Wednesday on the West Coast. Thursday, March 17th here now. Wednesday, March 16th still there.
Ugh. I'd actually like to get this. But ugh. If only I go against my principles.
I'm not sure if I'd want to admit buying something called "Buckyballs".
Wow. I was going to buy a set, but after that video (not to mention the notation on its YouTube page saying "This video was attacked and taken town by Bucky Ball with a false DMCA claim") I don't think I will.
Poop! I've always wanted a set of these, but I'm not willing to pay $30 for 2 sets. I only want one
Totally not worth it.. I have these things sitting on my desk at work.. 35 bucks??! Frys Electronics sells them for 15..
Copied from Zen Magnets' web site: Q: Do you have other colors? A: No. Zen Magnets are colorless, and other available colors do not meet our quality standards. Gold and silver are soft and flaky. Dark nickel dilutes the mirror coating. Saturated colors are not well developed. If you're trying to take pictures of colorful magnets, try flavoring the lighting. I know that the product being sold here is Buckyballs, but this is just an FYI as to why buying green ones may not be the best.
Not a deal breaker, if you were interested. But the coating on the photoshoot set is already cracking. Click through the front page pictures to see yourself.
From what I can see, and my knowledge of rare earth magnets, you're only in danget if you swallow MORE than one. RE magnets have a small (tight) magnetic field, which is why they are use INSIDE hard drives. (OK there is another reason, they have GREAT powers. Maybe, that is why the magnetic field is so clost to the magnet.) Oh, in for 2 sets. steve
Man I want these so bad....but with three little kids (all under 7) two dogs and two cats.... not a chance.
I'd buy them if they were purple... Or maybe colbalt blue... otherwise, not a fantastic price over regular buckyballs at amazon
Been wanting some and here was my chance. In for 1. Happy St Pattys Day
!!!! I MUST HAVE THEM!!!!
@omgwin Good catch :P
These things are freakin' awesome... for 24 minutes. After that, they're small magnet balls that you forget about, and find in your desk drawer when you're quitting or being downsized. From then on you think about your horrid boss and his lying ways every time you see the little round reminders. I mean...maybe. It's one possibility.
Can I get an "Unlimited" edition?
I'm happy to see these are new. I wouldn't want a refurbished 'pooed' set from the warning.
If you decide to buy these, do yourself a favor and buy three sets of two. With these things more is better.
I am actually tempted by these, but judging by the 4 sets I already own, I know the coating wont last. It's unfortunate I would love to have some green ones.

I put them on my coffee table and everyone that comes over can't help but play with them. After 6-8 months I still find new things to do with mine. I just don't trust the green coating to last which is the only reason I wouldn't purchase these. The silver and black ones are still good. The gold ones I have are so faded they often get mixed with the silver and it's hard to tell them apart.
