I think it will be interesting to see if there are any differences in the crap from each level. I got a level 3 and my brother got a level 4. Ooooh I can't wait!

I kind of like the different levels. This means we have a smaller group of friends to share our Big o' Cosmos fun with. We're like a little family here!

My theory....

It was April Fool's Day. That in itself implies "anything goes"....and I'm guessing now that some of these "glitches" may have been intentional. Why WOULDN'T they randomly reward some of those quick on the draw by bypassing the game altogether? Same can be said of allowing a purchase on each different level. You never know with Woot. They don't HAVE to tell us the "rules" ahead of time....and might get kicks from watching some of the smarter (not me!)....or even just luckier...wooters beat the system, so to speak. Wouldn't surprise me in the least, as that's just they way woot often is.
OR....
It could be that the programming/coding geniuses who work at woot just f'd up and didn't close all the back and side doors before the big party.
Who knows? Who cares? LOL
It was a FUN, DIFFERENT, and FAIR way to give EVERYONE a chance at the prize if they cared about it enough to participate, even if some of those people can't open their eyes and see that. Woot' site = Woot's rules, as far as I care. To those who want to "take their business elsewhere" because of THIS ONE APRIL FOOL'S SALE IDEA, I say: "Buh-bye, now. Take care, then." Go shop somewhere else. Sheesh. It's things like this that attracted most of us earliest-wooters to this site in the first place. There are tons of woot rip-off sites out there, but none.....NONE....compare to the original, imo. If people don't like it here, I don't see why they don't just go play with those others.

Just "My $.02"
I agree, but that doesn't mean we have to stop posting in here. ;)

I just have to say....
The "sense of entitlement" that has come to permeate our society just nauseates me.
Woot doesn't "OWE" any of us the opportunity to even buy craps in the first place. They don't have to sell Big o' Cosmos's AT ALL. It was a (very clever, imo) unique idea they came up with to clear out the already unsold, rejected merchandise that was cluttering up their warehouses, and make a profit from doing it, to boot. The only thing that pisses me off about it is that I didn't think of it first. *kicks self in butt*
This is AMERICA, people!!! Land of the Free. Home of the Brave. (And also the home of capitalism, pure and simple.)

I agree. While it may not have functioned properly at first, it worked great afterward. This is probably the only time I've EVER seen crap last until noon. Usually its gone in like 30 seconds. Also there were more craps than ever before.
I think a majority of people are mad because their auto-buy bot failed them. ;)

I think he may have been phrasing that compliment in such a way as to hint that he'd also like your permission to do the same thing, IF it was okay with you. I second the compliment, and think it would look good if many posters had your sig with their own numbers on it. I'd ask for it myself, but would probably be too embarrassed at how high some of those numbers would be....along with my measly "2" for the bag.

At 1AM (eastern), the Big Orphaned Cetacea cam up, and I hit the big old button, taking me directly to the purchase screen. Bingo. I got a Big Orphaned Cetacea.
This process was the same as it EVER was, except there were only 750 bags for that first level.
My point? To all the whiners who claim it wasn't fair.... What if... just WHAT IF this was an actual woot-off that STARTED with the bag? It would have sold out in 10 seconds flat, and you'd all be complaining about the crappy servers and how woot sucks.
The game - even with all its warts and pimples - gave MORE people a GREATER chance to get a bag. Normal bag offering is around 3,000. This one was closer to 8,000.
Woot stepped up and offered a supply to meet the demand. It was that simple. Except... Woot doesn't just GIVE their crap away. You need to be quick, or cunning, or smart, or all three. Possess any of those traits (along with a healthy dose of luck), and you are rewarded for your efforts.
In a normal scenario, you try once, the bag is sold out. In this scenario, you have literally HUNDREDS of chances each and every hour.
Just really damn lucky: Random Crap: 2/15/08, 2/19/09, 12/25/09, 4/1/10, 12/1/10, 12/25/10, 4/1/11, 5/11/11, 9/14/11, 10/12/11, 12/25/11

twipps wrote:Any ideas as to what to expect the quality of the craps to be? Not that quality matters much or anything; just wondering if maybe the larger quantity of craps given out implies lesser quality.
Also, March's Big o' Cosmos hasn't had any reported letters yet? What's up with that? Are they saving all the big ticket items for now? :D?
Condition: Crappy
THE HOLY CRAP COMMANDMENTS v3.0
I. Thou shalt expect nothing beyond ONE bag of some kind and THREE crappy items.
The letters don't generally come out until the boxes themselves get sent. In it, some boxes will have a letter that one of their craps couldn't fit into the box and would be shipping separately via an alternative carrier. THAT's how you know you got a "big ticket" surprise....at least, that's how it's been in the past. Since I haven't scored a Big o' Cosmos in a looooooooooooooooooong time, I haven't kept up with reading those threads to see if things have changed or notl

Point of clarity:
Each Level had up to 750 Carps available X10 = 7500 total @ 3 per order = 2500 total Woots
I could certainly be wrong, redscot68, but I think it was 750 ORDERS (bags) per level = 7500 ORDERS (each bag containing 3 craps)
Otherwise, each level would have sold out @ 250 (if they were counting each item in the order...ie, each item in each bag...separately.)

*Laughs*
I can't help but think that that's what has caused the whiners the most grief: that even with BETTER odds and MORE chances and MORE time, they STILL couldn't pull it off and buy themselves some crap. (I also agree with whoever said that the most vocal whiners are probably those whose auto-buy-bot programs were foiled.)

Oops....*flips my calendar page over to the current month*....how did MARCH go by so quickly????? Thanks for pointing out my error; I totally missed it and thought twipps was talking about THIS Big o' Cosmos.
(Yes, I *am* aware that April Fool's Day occurs in April, not March, LOL!)
To answer twipp's question: not everyone posts in the forums is my guess. I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to come brag about it if they got something great, but some people just don't share such information. *shrug*

Hey, drgandalf....back to your cool sig:
Maybe you should "borrow" from redscot68's sig and add an icon in yours for screaming monkeys! (Since so many consider that to be a status symbol or "collector's" item, also.) Perhaps y'all could work out such a "trade" of ideas?

HOLY CARP! I think I'm wrong! Looking back at March's Big o' Cosmos it says 3000 total Woots. On each Level of the 4/1 Big o' Cosmos it says roughly 750 each. WOW, that's a CARP load of CARPS!
*gently pats redscott68 on the back*
There, there....don't fret. We've ALL been wrong at some point in our lives. At least you've gotten it out of the way now.
My idea re: the quality of woots and this time's larger quantity:
One of these days, Woot needs to consider having one of the "big ticket" items be a freaking STORAGE BUILDING in which to put all the crap. In my case, I'd be very happy to actually receive a new HOUSE for that. :-)
