The 120gb drive is 70 bucks at amazon, might as well pay the extra $22 and get yourself a less crappy headset. You can get 12 months of live for 30 bucks from amazon if you watch the price for a drop.

it just wont work...only drives upto 250gb and even then some wont work not all 250gb are compatible.

mattace wrote:Actually, if you open up the hard drive shell in today's woot, you can CAREFULLY take out the hard drive, open up the door on your slim xbox and put this unit in. We did this with my friends xbox when it red ringed and 8 months later, it is still working flawlessly. I do advise putting some filler around the unit once it is in the slim though, as there is a bit of play.

We did the same thing when the kid's 360 Elite died after 4 years of faithful service, and replaced it with a 4GB slim.

You just need a torx head screwdriver (I think it was a #4) and some patience. Once the HDD was out, it slides right into the opening in the 360 slim. All the settings and saves went right into the new machine without a hitch. It's run just fine since Christmas.

Not a hard procedure at all and we saved a decent bit of $ in buying the lower end slim.

The wired headset is pretty crappy - there's a reason Microsoft seems to pack it in with just about every 360 accessory they sale. The HD can be "modded" to work in a slim 360 pretty easily, but woot was selling the older 250GB ones for about this same price awhile back (and you better believe I snatched that up). The three months of Live adds abit to the value, but it's still far from an amazing deal.

Great job in your description.

Mainly because there is no such thing as a 2.5" drive with a 2TB capacity. Only just recently have there been ones with 1TB capacity, but they are in the larger 12.5mm thick form factor, not the more common 9.5mm.

Apparently it's fashionable to have a signature.

1. 3 month sub card is $24.99
2. This will not work on a Xbox 360S unless you take it out of the case
3. Yes you can transfer using a data migration cable.

If you call microsoft support and ask about xbox live promotions, they have 1 year for 35.99 going on right now.

I just called in to complain about automatic renewal for my 3 month 24.99 and how i wanted it cancelled, and they took my last payment and put it towards the 35.99 so now i'm paying 10 bucks for a year of live.

also if you plug in an external hard drive (usb) to the xbox and format it, it will only let you use like 8gb or something silly.

you're best just buying a couple of 8gb flashdrives and using those for your different games.

You can do something like this though - first, you google the firmware for the different retail harddrives out there, such as the 250gb modern warfare disk. Then, you purchase the compatible hard drive (Western Digital or Seagate if I remember). Then you Flesh your drive w/ that firmware image. Now the xbox will recognize it as authorized. Next, you have to fit it into the proprietary enclosure. You could take the stock 20gb enclosure and swap the drives.

Or. You could do what I did - buy the 250gb enclosure on DealXtreme, as they have done those above steps for me as I am lazy. I think it was only 70 bucks shipped? It has worked perfectly for about 1.5 years now.

Storage for the xbox has to be formated in a fat type drive, which these externals like the 2tb are not. A thumb drive is an example of the type of drive that works for storage on an xbox.

hbi2k wrote:So if you pay too much for it, then you're... paying too much for it? Mmmkay.

You can auto-renew at the $60-a-year price just like if you pay every month. That's what most people who don't want to take the trouble to watch out for sales on cards do.

In any case, $30 is not the proper comparison for this deal because it's not the price you'd pay for a comparable service. If you buy three months up front, it's $25. If you pay by the year, it's $60 / 4 = $15. If you wait for sales on cards (Amazon currently has 12 months for $40) it's roughly $40 / 4 = $10.

Any of those figures ($25, $15, or $10) is an acceptable value comparison, depending on how a particular individual might go about buying a comparable service elsewhere. But there is no circumstance under which any right-thinking person would pay $30, UP FRONT, for three months of Live service. It's a false comparison.

I pay $25 a year for my xbox live gold

I think you might be thinking of an HDMI cable, Cat-5(or better) or Ethernet cables are as cheap as dirt. Even at your local Home Improvement Store a 100' cable shouldn't cost more than $30, check online and you can get one for <$20(http://www.buyextras.com/cat5epacoetc5.html).
And a 3-15' cable should be less than $10 online.

For Inexpensive HDMIs though, check out EForCity's Store at Amazon. Oh, and I've purchase a few now without any problems with playback.
