Well since that comment I had actually sent my elocity a7 back because it wound up having a dead pixel in the screen. Usually not a big deal to me, but on a device with a screen already so small I think it should be working 100%.

I read countless reviews on this device and almost all of the negative feedback was because of the "marketplace" and/or "preloaded software/apps" suck with this device...so... I'll say it one more time for you all you people.

#1 This is the cheapest Nvidia Integra 2 dual core tablet you can find (normally $300 or more anywhere else).

#2 The rom can be flashed (firmware, software, whatever it means to you) to provide you with the google android marketplace and all it's apps. I did the same thing with my elocity when I played around with it (Better software).

http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=841

The first thing you should do when you buy this is update the firmware from the manufacturers site.

The second, play with it and investigate whether or not you want to play with the xda flashing.

I waited and watched like a hawk for woot to put this tablet back up so I could buy it. Thank you, thank you, thank you w00t!

Btw woot originated from D&D meaning "wow loot".

woot = wow loot?!! I had no idea it was a d&D term! Quality post of the year for me :D thank you

When you are watching the sysprep do its thang on 6 laptops and need to wait for setup to finish....there is time to kill. A large chunk of the IT industry is spent watching progress bars and there is only so much multitasking that can be done.

Damn it, finally got a chance to look at past ones today and they already did the Sony Dash viewer. What I looked forward to for this woot-off.

I knew this was going to be in this woot off. I love mine but I know how to program them. Don't buy this unless you upgrade the software, what it comes with sucks!

Couldn't resist, got one.. Sorry RIM, you took too long to come out with your Playbook and Woot just beat you.

Now, I must think a credible excuse to tell to my wife...

Bought mine from woot back in March. Stock software is a total joke. Also, it won't find or play any video/audio after I installed the over-the-air update. I'm thinking of hacking mine like so many others or waiting for honeycomb to be available. In the meantime I can browse the web just fine which is its main purpose.

One thing to note, it's heavy. It weighs about 2 pounds which doesn't seem like much, but after holding it for a while you do start to notice it.

I feel that Woot is insensitive to the disabled and may even have violated the ADA. In fact I'll probably be consulting a lawyer. Unless of course somebody at Woot reads this and decides to just send me a Box of Crayons to head off a potentially expensive and embarassing lawsuit. (now watch, I would not be at all surprised to get a woot box next week with a literal pack of Crayolas in it, knowing woot!)

In any case, note the fact that I'm sitting here refreshing at 9am on the first day of a Woot-Off. You have to make allowance for those of us wretched enough to ignore the laws of time and space in our desperate hope.

Considering the cheat was just refreshing your browser you had as much a shot as anyone else. I don't have sympathy that you didn't get a Big o' Cosmos.

Signatures are harshing my mellow.

If you see this in time, I've been using it with Slingbox and it works just fine over wi-fi. I haven't tried it over a tethered 4G phone connection.

When it boots, it looks first to the SD card and can re-Flesh the ROM from there. So even if you bricked it to the point that it wasn't bootable of internal memory you could still recover from the SD.

Thank you very much! I plan on playing with it and just wanted to know that if I jack it up that I can just put it back to factory defaults to continue my fun. In for 1!

Picked one of these up at the last Woot - I love it - once you visit xda and get a new ROM for it so you can access the Android Market etc its well worth the price - I've made all my iPad using friends jealous. I personally am running the ASOP Gingerbread ROM and it runs great - battery life is incredible - I can go all day without having to charge it. This replaced my laptop for portable computing.

One other thing, you can not password lock these things so don't put any personal data or save passwords on it.

Unless you really jack something up you'll be able to restore factory defaults off internal memory without resorting to the SD hack.

I got one at local Sears for a little cheaper due to gift cards, not bad for the money, but does lack some features that the Zoom has. Also, it only runs froyo, but others have been working to get gingerbread to work. If you are looking for honeycomb, it could be a long while before this tab sees it due to goggle stating that they will not release the source for a long time! Screen viewing angle blow too! But again for the money it does what i need it to do!

chrismarois wrote:Can you put the e-book stores on this after rooting? How does it perform as an e-book reader?

I use the kindle reader app and another called laputa(?)or something like that and it looks and performs really well. The issue is it will fall into the un-viewable category if you try to use it outside in the bright light. You will definitely want to root and ROM this thing. The ROM that is installed form the factory is horrible.

Is woot trying to kill Robeet and that xda community? Man! Too bad I had non-buyer's remorse and bought one from Circut City two days later. Softbricked it once, flashed it twice, and now it's my new best friend!

Rooting = admin access (root access)
ROM = operating system, or more correctly, the operating system interface you use.

The greatest thing since sliced apples ;-) I bought one an LOVE it. This thing seriously outclasses the iPad one, and gives the iPad2 a run for its money. The only thing lacking on this is the viewing angle on the screen. At anything other than 40 degrees of axis the screen washes out kinda like a privacy filter on a laptop.

Did you know that you can plug in a usb keyboard?? Did you know that you can plug in a usb thumb drive (Fat32)?? Did you know that you can greatly improve the interface by updating a ROM (10 minute process)?? I already have WIFI on my phone and tether it to my G tablet. Isn't life great! WOOT! WOOT!

I bought this tablet last week when it was a regular woot. I love it! Vegan installed with ease, and the app store works great. My biggest beef with this tablet is that it is really hard to find accessories for it. I would love to get one of those silicone skins like they have for the Ipad, but no one makes it (that I can find anyway).

DO: Buy this if you like to tinker.
DON'T: Buy this if you're drooling over an iPad 2. You will be disappointed.

I've had mine for a week, and I love it. Mainly because I like to mess around with ROMs and like having control over my devices. But an iPad, this is not. The screen can be bad at certain angles, and there are quirks that pop up now and then. But for this price, it's a very powerful tablet.

There are a bunch out there for $30-$40 that are compatible with the gtablet. Like the TomTom receiver, look for ones that follow the generic protocol.

I bought an ipad last year for my wife....it's really nice. Looked at the ipad2 and $700 is more than a little pricey. Bought one of these last time and it is better than the ipad after installing TNT Lite....just bought another today for my son.

ellend wrote:BUYER BEWARE, WOOTSTERS!! A week or so ago, on a 2-for-Tuesday, the toothbrush sanitizers. I thought I'd purchase two of the sets, so I'd get 4 total sanitizers. My order came yesterday, and only 2 sanitizers. I checked my order, I did order and pay for two. I emailed woot and here is their answer: the TOOTHBRUSH that comes inside the sanitizer, inside the plastic packaging, is what counts as the TWO!! Silly me, I would think that 2-for-Tuesday implies two of the same item!! In future Tuesdays, be careful!! If you order something that is battery charged and it includes the battery, you might be getting "2" without knowing it.
I think I'm done with purchasing from Woot. I suggest you guys try out Yugster instead.

Here is my order 3x2=6...and it says 6 of each...
You need to get back with them about what you ordered...

Zero Germ UV Toothbrush Sanitizer with Toothbrush – 2 Pack
You ordered 6 American Direct ZG-12 Zero Germ UV Toothbrush Sanitizer .
You ordered 6 FDA Approved Toothbrush (Random Color).
which each cost $7.99
for a subtotal of $23.97
plus shipping + $5.00
for a total of $28.97
