I have one and I love it. Best dedicated eReader on the market.

I'm Bryan. Nice to meet you, Wooter.

OMGOMGOMG!!! I've been waiting for a Nook!!! Does anyone know what the longevity of a refurb nook is??? Is this going to crap out after two months?

Also, the $109/free shipping deal is for the Wi-Fi only version; this one is 3G!

AUGH DO I BUY IT OR NOT?????

How do you connect via AT&T? Do you need to already have an account with them, or does it just connect through them regardless...?

How is the web browsing function?

sc4bbk

Have one of this bad boy since last Black Friday. The eink screen is really great for reading. Has support for EPUB means I can get ebooks from various sources not just B&N.

The Achilles' heel of this thing seems to be the battery life. I get 10 hours of continuous usage. Another downside is no landscape mode for pdf and web browsing. The pdf problem can be overcome by rooting but not everyone will be willing to go down that path.

Yes, it renders PDFs well. I like mine a bunch. E-ink is the way to go.

How does the Barnes & Noble e-book selection compare to Amazon's?

jhirsch

Oh man, woot, why can't this be a Nook Color!?! I so want to test out my rooting abilities.

The Nook allows you to check out books from your local public library, because they are carried in an epub format which amazon does not allow.

Also it does read PDF and EPUB formats meaning you're not just locked into Barnes and Nobles library you're also able to buy from just about any other company or independent you wanted to. (Bigger title selection!)

The "3G is FREE via AT&T®, the nation's fastest 3G network****"

"**** 3G network not available in all areas."

Can you believe **** was not the most... they went up to ***** about battery life!!!

I was hoping for things like åß∂ƒ˙∆˚¬≤µ˜∫√ç≈Ω... or those single tall lines with double strike throughs.

One nice feature this has over the Kindle (the reason why my mother purchased it) is the ability to get books from your local library.

Mine is running fine since last Black Friday. I guess all retailers get refurbs directly from B&N? I can't be sure though.

I have this and love it. Only eReader on the market that you can work with the library and not have to purchase every book. Plus B & N gives you a freebie every Friday and many of the books are on sale much below Amazon's prices. I would get this in a heartbeat if I didn't own it already.
You only need color if you are doing magazines, how many books do you know that are printed in color? Not to mention you can listen to audio and use it as a mp3 player too. Even a couple games on there.

You can. Here are the supported file types:

Supported File Types***

Load these popular formats for eBooks, graphics and audio from your computer or microSD card.
EPUB (including Non or Adobe DRM)
PDB
PDF
Graphics: JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP
Audio: MP3
Not Supported: DOC, LIT, TXT, AMZ (Amazon), LRZ/LRX (Sony)

From Nook Specs on B&N.

Basically if it's in that format, you're good.

I missed that. Is the 3G actually free, because if it is, this is a heck of a deal.

Can I surf the web via the 3G?

I spend a LOT of time in my car for work sitting around reading (its a lot of waiting for others to do their jobs). I was *this* close to getting a Kindle for my birthday, but now I'm not so sure.
