I had to talk to FedEx because it seems Woot system allows more characters in the address than the FedEx one.

So my address (line 1) on Woot was 33 chars, and it seemed like FedEx cut the last number, which was part of the apartment number and now it's says there's an exception.

Are we still in the times where we limit everything to powers of 2? Anyway, I'm waiting on FedEx to update the shipping schedule.

Believe it or not, we sort of are. Database tables can be (poorly?) designed to have limited lengths and data formats in each column. Likewise, the Fedex API might accept only certain formats, and/or truncate if you feed the wrong format.

It's unfortunate to have this issue compounded... in other words, "sucks to be you!" :P

Yay! Per the USPS, mine is out for delivery! Now if the mail lady will be nice and actually walk it to my door instead of sticking a dumb note in my box. Thankfully I live in earshot of the mailboxes.

According to USPS its out on a truck as we speak (although it probably won't get here until noonish). I live in southeast Minnesota, so I'm guessing those of us in the upper Midwest will be getting there's soon?

Great news, thanks!

I think I get it now...the shipping icon for Smartpost on Woot is a picture of a slug with a box on it. No wonder the shipping is slower than walking--their shipments travel via slugs!

So FedEx has gone up a couple notches in my book. Lots and lots of notches, actually.

I called the 800 number yesterday to see if they could hold the Nook at the hub. The guy said no because it was contracted to be delivered by the USPS.

I decided to call the actual hub this morning and got a very nice gentleman on the phone. He told me it was on a truck that was scheduled to be taken to the post office tonight, so they would have it in the morning. He asked if I could wait one more day.

I asked him if the post office would hold it for me so I could pick it up there as this is a gift and the recipient is going home tomorrow (I got 2 - one is a gift and one is for ME). He told me to hold on a minute.

He came back on the phone and told me that he would go to the truck to see if he could locate it so he could take it off so I could pick it up. I told him that I hated for him to have to do that, but he started talking about unusual circumstances and the "Purple Promise" (whatever that is) and said that he would be happy to do that for me. He said he'd call me back if he found it.

As I was typing this he called back to say that he found it and it is ready for me to pick up. So he went out and found the loaded and sealed truck, dug through all the packages until he found my small Woot box, then took it off the truck and called me back. Also it's snowing here this morning and it's about 35 degrees outside so he did all of this in the freezing cold.

Yeah, I'm a little bit happier with FedEx now.

Off to get my Nook... no violence here, just smiles! I'll post when I get back!

Mine's right with yours. I cannot believe that it sat in Chino for 36 hours and then another day and a half into/out of LA. My "expected" date has slipped twice since it became trackable late last week: originally the 28th, then 29th, now 30th. Absurd.

So fellow Kentuckians...anyone gotten theirs? My estimated receive date says the 37th, but USPS has no record of it, and it still says that it departed New Berlin on the 23rd at 6:49 am...rar rar...no updates since then. Also, no destination listed...

I think they must be walking it here, because walking from New Berlin to my city is 6 days and 4 hours...

Mine updated from leaving WV to being out for the truck for delivery today! Est delivery has always been 4/28, so I can't believe its headed to my house now.

I feel like I'm at the end of a long journey with this whole ordeal. I have no idea what i am going to do back in the "real world" without refreshing fed ex and this forum every 2 minutes. I may actually miss the excitement of seeing new posts and seeing my package slowly making it across the country.

Okay, I'll be the jerk. I don't give any kudos to woot or fedex regarding this situation. It is sad that Woot doesn't have enough power as a customer to demand information from Fedex. It is sad that Fedex doesn't value woot (or us) and actually explain what has happened, or at least be honest that they have no earthly idea.

Did I expect an exact shipping timeline? Of course not. When you have a website like woot that feels they have to funny/witty on every single page of their site, one shouldn't expect anything to be taken seriously. Still, having a woot employee post in this discussion forum basically with a "I dunnooooooooo" as a main response is more annoying than having no response at all.

Woot and Fedex should take one of these B&N nooks and download a book about customer service.

When looking it up on USPS.com are you all using the same tracking number as the one used by FedEx? If it is the same number then the Postal Service is saying that they don't have anything for that number.

Here is my FedEx tracking history:

Apr 23, 2011 4:27 AM Departed FedEx location
FEDEX SMARTPOST KANSAS CITY, KS

Apr 22, 2011 5:58 PM Arrived at FedEx location
FEDEX SMARTPOST KANSAS CITY, KS

Apr 21, 2011 11:15 PM Departed FedEx location
FEDEX SMARTPOST DALLAS, TX

Apr 21, 2011 9:40 PM Arrived at FedEx location
FEDEX SMARTPOST DALLAS, TX

I don't understand why there has been no information since April 23rd. Maybe it and Toto left Kansas via a tornado and I need to click my heels to have it finally get to NYC. ;)

Woot's staff has been great in responding to my posts so I am not complaining to them, just venting my frustrations at SmartPost. There is NOTHING smart about their service imo. (Although, it is great that the FedEx guy helped out the poster above.) I've just gotten to the point where I feel like this will never get here. My expected delivery date is the 28th, but I don't think I will get it by that date.

At least the largest obstacle on the direct route is only the Rocky Mountains. We won't have to worry about tornados and/or busted levees. Unless FedEx/SmartPost decides to take the Denver to Sacramento via Augusta, Minneapolis, Orlando, Chino, Butte, Seattle route.

Shoot, did I just jinx us?

True enough.

I'm curious if we're in a mob mentality at this point. I mean the long delay in receiving info at first was frustrating, but I wonder if woot has any metrics on average time from "I want one" to "I got one."

I think we might all be surprised at how close to normal the wait has been compared to how abnormal the feeling is after getting ourselves involved in this thread.

Looks like I won't have mine in hand until May! Says April 30th but it's supposed to deliver to my business address and we don't have Saturday delivery. Bummer. Last Scan shows it leaving Berlin, WI at 10:30 p.m. last night. Perhaps I should have called FEDEX and offered to drive and meet them halfway between there and OH.

Where it will show up next is anybody's guess.

Maybe I 'unjinxed' my delivery, cause I just checked the Fedex site and it says it's at my local post office:

Apr 26, 2011 7:32 AM

I was thinking that same thing on my way home. I'm not sure if any of this has really been outside of the TOS for either company. I'm not entirely sure what FedEx's guarantee is for smart post, so I may be very wrong about that. And the most annoying thing would be if someone had been lying to us.

In any case, I have it! Just charging it up now. Woohoo!

Now to bug Woot to send the one I ordered last Thursdy so I can get MINE!!!!!!!......
