Mine came in yesterday (awesome since the tracking link was estimating delivery on 5/4).

Just a quick comparison to my 2D Maglite with the Maglite drop in 3W LED upgrade (not a CREE btw) which is my current "large" flashlight. They're both roughly the same size, though the new one is about 1/2" shorter. While the weight is about the same the Mag is of slightly better build quality, especially noticeable on the threads as others have noted.

Beam-wise I like it much better than the Mag. The spot in the center is a little smaller than the Mag set to spot, however the spill around the spot is much more uniform and is larger. If I adjust the Mag to equal the same spill size then it completely hollows out the center of the beam and makes it sort of worthless.

Brightness-wise... I tested with alkaline energizers and rechargeable energizers. With the recharg. in the Mag and regular in the new one the Mag was noticeably dimmer. With the recharg. in the new and the regular in the Mag they were the same intensity. There was no difference in brightness with either recharg. or regular in the new one, so obviously much better power management.

O-ring-wise I'm a little confused. Two of the three came with O-rings on the battery cap and the third one didn't. One of the two which did the O-ring broke on the first opening.

All in all I'm quite happy with them so far and look forward to trying them out. I'll just be careful with the threads for a while and hope they break in well... not that I need to open them very often.

As soon as my three lights got here, me and my boys went "urban spelunking" several hundred yards up a storm drain in our neighborhood.
The lights are super bright. They also survived a few drops onto the culvert and the sidewalk.

Well, I bought three for 20 shipped, so this is better deal this way.

Got my three yesterday, nice bright focused light that has a far reaching cool white beam. My maglight is a far reaching white, these are definitely a cool blue.

Soooo... these lights either emit a 'cool white beam' or a 'cool blue', not both (I can only assume). This light can't emit both, right? Please clarify. Thanks.

PS - I'm supposed to get mine (3) later today via Fedex Smartpost. 9 total days from order date to receive stuff (Dallas to Atlanta). Meh. I've seen worse but I've seen better too. But I still love me some good woot swag, regardless of a stoned/slow shipping division. :-)

I ordered three and one is DOA. Anyone know the name & email of the manufacturer?

Got my 3 and WOW! They are a very nice flashlight. My first wootlight! I gave 1 to my dad and kept the other two for my house and truck. The beam is amazing with just regular $4 Rayovac batteries. It feels very sturdy and reliable.

We compared it to my dad's old 6v lantern style light. No contest, this thing put that to shame. Then we broke out his 2D Mag Light with the standard (non-LED) bulb. Again this blew it away! If woot sells these again I'm getting 3 more as gifts!

Does anyone know who makes them and if you can buy them online anywhere?

I don't see that you ordered these flashlights under the account you're posting with. Please email in if you haven't already! We'd be more than happy to help you out.

just got mine in the mail. love the look and feel, real similar to maglite, although obviously a knockoff. pretty light weight for the amount of power it puts out. Im only disappointed in the unadjustable beam. all in all not bad for the price, might even buy another one to keep in the car.

I received mine yesterday and all three worked without any problems. I love receiving a Woot! box in the mail.

Received mine today. Wow are they bright! I would buy more if Woot offers them again. Please get more Woot!

This light is so bright I was able to spot objects more that 600 feet away with the bright center core. Although the lights are not technically adjustable, I found you can twist the lens cap and widen the center beam by about 2X and still have it on secure enough it won't fall off. Taking the whole cap off along with the reflector you get a nice uniform but unfocused area light. I wouldn't recommend taking it off in a damp or wet environment tho.

I'm in the same boat. i ordered three and one was DOA. i emailed Cree, but they responded that they only make the LED and not the flashlight. Please let me know if you come up with anything, because it s*ks that Woot doesn't back up the product and will refund our money only if I pay the cost of returning it, which would be as much as the flashlight.

C'mon...it's not MY fault that the darn thing doesn't work!

3 arrived today.. only tried one of them with a set of generic "heavy duty" D cells from the junk drawer. Every bit as bright as a 5 watt luxeon with 2xCR123's... feels pretty solid. I'm not at all disappointed. Now to find that box of ProCells I have around here someplace.

Me three: Received two good lights—GREAT lights for the price—and one complete dud. Tried the same pair of batteries (taken from a slightly-nicer Brinkmann light) in each of the three, and swapped around endcaps and emitter/reflector assemblies, but nothing would make the dud light up.

I guess I'll see what return shipping would cost. I'm out $7.62 per light already…I wonder if anyone will ship it for $3.81 or less?

Random comment for those who were discussing disassembling the flashlights.

You can remove the reflector from the lens/lens cap by pushing in on the lens and turning the cap (it helps to hold the reflector so it turns with the lens as well). The plastic ring inside the cap that holds the reflector in isn't actually threaded, however turning while pushing will let it pop out. There is an o-ring between the lens and the lens cap. So if anyone is looking to swap in a better lens then that's how to get out the old one. The lens is 1.5" diameter

The LED assembly unscrews from it's housing relatively easily. Take the head off of the body of the flashlight and then just unscrew the LED assembly. It's mounted in a ~ 1/2" piece of aluminum and is threaded on the same threads which attach the head to the body. There are two little divots in the bottom (presumably to attach a tool with which to turn it). I was able to just grab the spring and turn it using that, though it's possible some other lights are torqued more tightly. I'm sure it would be possible to remove the LED board and the electronics as well however I didn't want to actually pry them loose from where they were.

Also in the 'ordered 3, 1 arrived DOA' boat... I emailed woot but haven't heard back yet. I hope they'll send a replacement without having to send back the dead one. Quite frustrating.

Got mine just in time to get used to it and have it ready for the tornado that ripped up La Crosse. Still, not as bad as Joplin.

Same situation here. Wat do

The construction looks kind of slipshod; looking down into the barrel of the light with the tailcap off and no batteries in shows that the contact inside the top of the light is completely misaligned with the cutout it is supposed to fit into, and there's no obvious way to disassemble the top and realign it. I was actually surprised that 2 of 3 worked, given that all 3 are misaligned this way.

Anyway, will woot! do anything about this, or ...? What are the alternatives for dead ones?

I ordered these a few months ago and I'm still waiting for them to be delivered. I did some research and have read the horror stories in regards to the awful shipping service that is called "Smartpost". A lot of the stories that I read said to 'wait it out' for several days/weeks after the 'supposed' delivery date that was supposedly 'confirmed' via their 'tracking system'. This (the wait time advice) is the reason I have taken this much time to raise the flag.

I was home the day the mail was delivered (actually saw the postman in his Jeep, placing my mail in my mailbox) and again, according the tracking system, the flashlight should have been in that delivery. I'm posting this here in this blog/thread but I will also send an email to service@woot.com shortly.

I just hope the bastages who are playing w/my flashlights right now somehow get them irretrievably lodged in their output repository (either by accident or on purpose, it doesn't matter to me which).
