How long do you have before you have to recharge them??

They were giving these out for free last summer in Chicago. Worked well. Used a couple of times before I lost it.

BUYER BEWARE: These ONLY work with the higher-voltage (and consequently, higher price Engergizer Throw-away Lithium Batteries). Do not buy these thinking you'll toss your dollar-store duracells in them, they don't work.

My Nexus One (Android) uses a standard micro-USB charger. Unlike those uptight Apple guys who get all proprietary...

I used to use one of these. Since it uses two AA batteries, it lasts longer than portable chargers that use just one, but it was also heavier and bulkier than my phone so it was just awkward to take with me.

bought these last year, not that good, did not give the phone a decent charge, problem was the batteries inside the unit went dead before the cel did.

If you have an HTC most of their phones use Micro USB for charging, so these would work. (Or should!)

With the ubiquitousness of car chargers and extremely cheap adapters of all sorts these days, this battery-powered gizmo seems a bit superfluous.

Each Woot includes 4 Lithium batteries! That's $3.99 for 4 lithium batteries, plus two chargers. That's cheaper than buying 4 Lithium AAs alone. The only issue is the $5 s/h ... but if you buy 3 Woots (6 chargers and 12 batteries), it becomes a bargain again.

I'm definitely in for 3 Woots even though I'm not quite sure what these chargers do...

Might be good for a camping trip... you know, when the car battery goes dead... no, not to recharge the car, but when you pick up the phone to call AAA and find little johnny used up the last of your cell phone power playing Angry Birds.

Well, that's why we're curious why Woot so emphatically states they cannot be used with HTC Android phones.

Can anyone actually vouch from experience (opinions don't count here) that these do or don't work with HTC Android phones that use Micro USB charger jacks? Thanks!

Living in a hurricane heavy area, and remembering how everyone laughed when I bought a ton of the April Fools Pocket Powers, only to have lived off them during 2 hurricanes, I am in for 3.

While these units are inexpensive, you're going to drop $4 every time you replace the lithium batteries in one (and that's if you buy the batteries in bulk). OK if you're only going to use them in an emergency. Otherwise, you're better off with one of rechargeable types that use low-drain NiMH cells.

No "HTC Android"? Since "Android" is an OS and not a phone model, what does that even mean? I've got an HTC Evo, which happens to be an Android phone.

The Evo has a micro USB port, which appears to be included. So is the problem with the voltage, or is the problem with other Android phones with different connector types?

Don't want to miss out if this would actually work, but don't want to get it if it won't. Anybody know for sure?

not sure where your writers got their info, but these tips should work with any android phone ever released afaik. don't lump us in with those kool-aid drinkers!

Don't know for sure, but they may require a "smart charger" that can monitor the input and drop it to trickle once the charge is complete.

I'm in for 3, and if the charger-things work with my Droid X (and I'm pretty sure they will) then that's like a bonus.

I also got one of these free at Lolla last year - the mini-USB one, which I used with my HTC G1 (android) phone. It worked quickly and well, but it had one quirk that I'm not sure was supposed to happen - if I disconnected it accidentally during a charge, it would NOT go back to charging the phone, even if I put new batteries in it. No idea why.

I used rechargeable NiMH batteries in mine, and aside from the issue mentioned, they worked well. And it was smaller than the battery pack I use now - but the disconnection issue made it unreliable for me.

Four Energizer Lithium AA batteries cost $7.15 on Amazon. If you buy 3 Woots, each Lithium AA comes out to about $1.45 ($17/12). That's $5.80 for a 4-pack.

Apparently everyone is on the same wavelength as I am, I too ignored the chargers entirely and tried to see if it was worth going in on for just the batteries, and as stated twice before myself, if you go in for 3 you are getting a deal on the batteries alone.

This is helpful. Thanks. Seems to be conflicting info on the NiMH batteries, so nice to hear that they work. What rechargeables did you use?

You don't recharge these. They use disposable AA batteries. These come with 2 Lithium AA batteries per charger.

These are pure dynamite.

Buy them for stocking-stuffers or coworker gifts too. I keep an empty one in every vehicle so all you need is (universally-available) AA batteries of ANY kind - yes, even rechargeables and you will have the ability to charge your gadgets which have mini or micro USB chargers.

They really pay for themselves quickly, IMO.
