Me too. I've heard these work fine with smartphones and since they are using micro and mini usb they are the perfect fit for most. Bought some anyway in hopes that they do work

MichaelSF wrote:Actually, these are not rechargeablele batteries.

Moreover, regular AA won't usually work in these.

And rechargeable batteries won't work at all. The reason is that AA rechargeable batteries don't have sufficient power to transfer (charge) power from the rechargeable battery to the cell phone battery.

You shouldn't have any problems with rechargeables. A diode in the circuitry prevents current backflow so even if the voltage is lower (1.2V vs 1.5V) or current is weaker, the electricity has nowhere to go but into the cellphone. If the diode isn't there, you'd risk electricity from the cellphone going into the charger, which is the opposite of what you'd want. But the diode limits the current to flowing in one way only. Even the weak current from solar cells can charge a cellphone although it'll take a long time.

Let's see: 4 lithium batteries and 2 quick chargers for $3.99 + Tax + $5 shipping = ~$11.00... if Iwoot on 2 (8 lithium batteries and 2 quick chargers) $7.98 + tax + $5 shipping = ~$15... if you guys throw in a Screaming Bunny and some rubberized bagels with them: I'm in for 3, otherwise... I guess I am still in for 3.

My oldest stepson is traveling to China in June with the People to People student ambassador program, and these might be good for him to have with him in case of an emergency or *gasp* for entertainment on the plane! Heck, I go overseas for work a bit too and these might be just the thing to keep my cell angry with birds... err... productively working on spreadsheets during one of those lovely 12-14 plane trips. Not a bad idea for the traveler.

Just a quick jot over to the Walgreens web site shows these at around $25 retail (http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/energizer-energi-to-go-mini-%26-micro-usb-portable-charger-for-cell-phones/ID=prod2614591-product) and Amazon shows them around $17, so not a bad deal.

Pardon my ignorance, but theoretically then couldn't one bridge the D+ and D- wires somewhere before the USB end to get this to work with the HTCs? Or would this somehow cause things to get all explody?

Or is it that the D+,- wires don't exist at all in these?

I had one of these for an old Nokia phone, and kept it in my car. One time I ended up using it, and it was somewhat awkward because the cord is only that long, and if you wanted to talk on it while charging, you have to hold it as well as the phone. The other annoying thing on mine was it had a bright light to signify that it was charging, which was really close to your face while talking.

I would suggest getting it to put it in an emergency kit or your glove box, but don't plan on using it comfortably if the time comes.

[quote postid="4483107" user="sdc100"]Each Woot includes 4 Lithium batteries! That's $3.99 for 4 lithium batteries, plus two chargers. That's cheaper than buying 4 Lithium AAs alone. The only issue is the $5 s/h ... but if you buy 3 Woots (6 chargers and 12 batteries), it becomes a bargain again.

It's an even better deal than you thought - these are the slightly improved and more expensive batteries shown here: http://www.amazon.com/Energizer-Ultimate-L92BP-4-Lithium-Battery/dp/B0002DUQDQ. Here's the math:

Amazon: $1.92 each (assumes free shipping)
Woot: $4*3+$5=$17/12=$1.42 each. If you're a photog who uses an external flash, gotta be in for three.

Woot!

These are not meant to replace a regular wall or car charger -- no more than a flashlight is meant to replace a desk lamp. These are made for times when you have no access to a wall plug or car but need to recharge your phone. For example, during natural disasters, blackouts, camping trips, etc. That's why they're nice to have in emergency and survival kits. And I can't tell you the number of times I had to rush out, only to find out that my cellphone was about to lose power. Having one of these in my backpack can sustain me until I get home to plug in the phone,

In for 3. I plan on throwing the chargers away or maybe keeping one. They dont lose their charge over time and hold a lot of power. Making them great for emergency flashlights or camping stuff.

The numbers:
Energizer Ultimate Lithium Batteries
$9.99 per four pack
= $2.50 per battery

Todays Woot
$3.99 x 3 plus $5 s/h = $17 nets 12 batteries
= $1.42 per battery

Yes, PSN is back online. The shop is still down as of yesterday, but the network itself is up and running. Requires 3.61 software update for the PS3 and forced password change to sign into PSN the first time.
Also, until you've changed your PW, you can't access PSN from a PS3 that hasn't already had your account on it before - I assume to prevent hackers from using your account info elsewhere.

Yeah, I found this review on Amazon.

"My boyfriend and I both have the same phone (HTC Pro 2). So I ordered two of these chargers. When I received them, neither one would turn on (that little blue light) when I inserted batteries and covered, much less charge our phones. Tried inserting batties all kinds of ways, and tested them (fully charged), and nothing. Sent back and got a refund from energizer.

Thinking it might have been a defective batch, I ordered two more from another vendor. Same thing. In process of getting refund now. I asked energizer if instead of cash they could send me some that WORK. Nope. They've discontinuted the product."

Too bad. I have an Evo, and this looked like a nice option. Oh well.

In for 3. Pretty good deal just for the batteries.

I already have several small NiMH rechargable batteries, but they need topping up every once in a while. This is a great low-maintenance option for the glovebox.

I have one of these, and buying these. The one I have has the larger tip so I had to get an adapter. It works fine with my D1 with standard run of the mill batteries. This has been my experience.

You are correct, just connect the D+,- together so that the phone will charge.

It would not explode.

But it's more than likely that this plug has only two wire inside them +,-.

If you have extra microusb cable at home to spare, just buy these and cut short out d+,- ad have +,- soldered to the charger.
