Meh. I've got a klean kanteen. Much more secure lid design and exactly the same in every other aspect. A good deal, but my need is already filled.

I'm surprised by all the hate for single walled bottles. Thermoses have their place and for that they are superior to these bottles. Most people are not looking to store ice cold water for 12+ hours all of the time.

These are nice around the office or in the back yard to keep bugs and co-worker 'additions' at bay.

Anyone know if these will rust too?

Stainless steel does not rust in fresh water, ergo, you did not have real stainless steel.

sdc100 wrote:Probably. My guess is that it's a chemical reaction between the stainless steel and minerals/electrolytes in the water. Ph-neutral distilled water probably won't have that effect. Acidic drinks like lemonade or orange juice would probably interact as well. It's one reason I don't mind BPA lining my bottles. Leeching is unlikely in short term storage, i.e. water for a few hours.

I've had mine (the exact black model pictured, even) for a couple years. I've never noticed any 'off' tastes to my water. I love my bottle to death and use it daily.

Mescalero wrote:yeah, I thought a "Thermos" was insulated and so by definition had to be double-walled.

Actually - Thermos is a brand name, but people have come to understand it as "an insulated bottle".... much like a "kleenex" means any facial tissue (whether it's Kleenex brand, Puffs, store brand, etc.), and a "band aid" is a bandage, regardless of brand (Band-Aid, Curad, whatever) - and a "coke" in the south is any carbonated soda, whether it's Coke, Pepsi, Dr Pepper, grape, orange or Sprite....

Had you read, oh, I don't know.... the 20 or so other posts above yours that clarified this, you wouldn't look like such an human....

Also, these bottles fit nicely into those thick foam can koozies (cooizes?). I use one at work with that setup and it can stay semi-cool for a few hours.

I was wondering if these will fit with Klean Kanteens caps? I ike this one since it wont store water inside like the other ones: http://kleankanteen.com/products/accessories/klean-kanteen-caps-classic-loop.php

The sport cap 2.0 still leaks.

Well I just threw caution to the wind and ordered 3. I have several reusable water bottles that I hate sitting around the house, but maybe these will be good. Hopefully I can give some away to family. If not, I can always put them in a garage sale.

I've had one of these for about a year. I paid a lot more for it at Target! I like it a lot except for one thing. If I put it in a bag/large purse or throw it in the backseat of my car as I usually do with a water bottle, the easy open top often pops open and water spills all over. I find myself using ones with tops that don't spill quite so easily instead. If you're abusive to water bottles, beware of that easy-open top!

Since it's called a "thermos" is it good for hot liquids too? Will it keep hot liquids hot?

Thermos is a brand name. Like Band-Aid. Alas, so many people use it to describe a double walled insulated steel cannister that it is becoming a generic term.

Pencap23 wrote:Great price for one, let alone two. Multiple reviews at Amazon confirm that the single wall steel technology is both superior to the chipp-prone liner found in SIGG bottles and more environmentally friendly. On the other hand, multiple reviews at Amazon also confirm that the lid is problematic; one reviewer claims that the, um, orifice is too small and results in the user swallowing a lot of air with the water. Others claim that the cap no longer seals effectively after periods of time ranging from a week to 5 or so months.

In any event, Amazon is offering these things for $10 a pop. If you have prime, the deal here is essentially two for the price of one. So if your cap starts to act up, just throw the environmentally friendly bottle away and use the second bottle without anyone noticing, because you involuntarily bought two of the same design. This bottle is not only a safe and secure container for life's most essential of fluids but also a sleek and sexy statement of modern fashion. The trendy artwork will nicely complement the Iced Mocha Latte you buy every morning as you drive to work in your Subaru and the sleek steel might just be the perfect companion for your iPad 2 or Macbook Air.

Additionally, the ambiguity of the eponymous acronym will impress friends and family and leave them in wonder as they puzzle over its dubiously important significance; they'll never know that it doesn't actually stand for anything.

May want to recycle the environmentally friendly bottle rather then chuck in in the trash, if your inclined to care about that sort of thing.

Ph-neutral distilled water probably won't react with the metal...however your body might be unhappy that distilled water is also completely devoid of the ions and minerals typically found in water that help make it so vital to humans. Consuming large amounts of distilled water (i.e. on the order of quarts) can actually be fatal.

I still have my 'post' v-card (until right now - celebrate with me) - I think all the caps are red because someone thought it was a cute take off on 'rojo' which means red in spanish and sounds like 'roho' - plus, there are 2 o's and one h in 'roho' - just like H2O. Just the ramblings of an old geek that almost minored in chemistry.

In for two (Exposure). I have do have a water bottle right now, but it's bright blue and says "COLD BEER" on it (thanks, Old Navy!). Good during my college years, but not so much at the workplace. Nevermind the lovely metallic aftertaste that you get with the cheapo-cheezo metals that they use in the lesser grade water bottles (I think I paid $3.99 for mine).

Anyway, thanks Woot.. I've been wanting one of these for quite some time and have been unwilling to pay $10+ for one. Now I can get two for that price, and give one to a friend.. I'm thinking my little brother, who is always teasing me about being a hippy, and yet he just bought an Outback and wears Chacos. Brat. A water bottle with a tree on it fits the bill well!

Woot loves me. It's true, they do: http://www.woot.com/blog/viewentry.aspx?id=6608

I would buy a set or two, if I didn't already have way too many other alternatives around the house. I will say, though, I love using similar vessels, and can't recall the last time I bought bottled water. And, having a large variety of non-disposable, portal drinking vessels is nice - as some are better for water, others better for iced drinks, sweet drinks, hot drinks and so on...

If you don't already have too many portable drinking vessels, buy these! If you have them and don't use them - start using them! It is a bummer what a disposable society we have become...

Just my $0.02.

Need insulation? Get a pair of tube socks for your pair of bottles. Then you can wash them in the dishwasher and not care about the outside decorations fading out.
Changing the subject, did you know you can buy a Frank Lloyd Wright house near Los Banos, CA for only $2 million dollars? 6 bedroom, 4.5 bath, tractor barn & walk-in fireplace.
