I wooted the same dyson a few years back, and within 3 weeks, I had to bring it into the shop. Dyson said this would be covered, the shop disagreed with me and charged me another $100 to clean out everything. Now, the rubber gaskets that connect to the main cylinder are failing. Will never buy or woot another dyson again.

Ok i bought the dc25 multifloor from sellout woot 3 days back for 10 dollars less. Can someone please explain the difference between the dc25 and dc28(i know its newer).

Also i want to know if woot would change my order to the dc28. Newer model isn't necessarily better, thats why i am asking. As far as animal vs regular version i have no preference, so that part does not matter.

thanks.

edit: i noticed that the dc25 is lighter, has less bin capacity, less accessories; however it does have the ball technology.

so another question is how good is the ball technology and is it worth it? weight wise is it significantly different?

Sears.com has dropped the price of the the Dyson DC17 All Floors Vacuum from $449.99 to $299.99 for today only.. Plus code SEARS2011 lowers the price to $294.99. This is for a brand new, not refurbished Dyson.

I really love ours & would buy another one in the future but probably not a refurbished one.

B. If you really worked in a flooring store you would likely know how to spell "vacuum."

Bravo. Beautiful retort.

I think you can wait a little bit after buying (up to a month?) and you should look for the frequent 30% off coupons Squaretrade offers.

The latest CR bagless upright vacuum ratings place this model in 4th place, just a few points off from the top rated model. These ratings don't mention cords at all. It should be noted that the 3rd place model lists at $100 less than the Dyson, and the top two models both list under $200.

I bought my wife a Dyson during the last Woot Off. She loves it!! I have used it and agree that it is one of the best Vacuums We/I have ever owned. The only difference is the one we have is the Dyson ball.

Don't think twice, Just click I WANT ONE

Do the attachments for this thing connect to the hose or do they have to be connected to the wand? I can't see vacuuming out a car using the wand.

If it's like the Dyson I have, you can attach it to either the hose or the wand - the wand detaches from the hose (or vice-versa, depending on the answer to the following question: which came first, the hose or the wand?).

Then apparently you got scammed, since Dyson offers a 1-yr warranty on all their refurbs.

tharapat wrote:I bought a refurbished dyson once. ONCE!

Biggest waste of money ever. I only got about three dozen uses out of it before it completely broke down. And that was after the really short warranty was past.

Every vacuum before and after this has lasted longer and worked better. Never again, Dyson.

When I bought my DC28, the deciding factor was suction power. The DC28 has more suction than any of the ball models. If you aren't in a house with several shedding pets, the maneuverability of a ball model may be more appealing to you than greater suction.

would totally love this except we tried to buy a dyson this weekend on sellout, you charged my husband's cc then told us the transaction didn't go through. now the funds are still on hold and we still can't get the damn dyson. no way we are coughing up another 300 bucks since you still haven't released the charges for the transaction this weekend. would be nice if we had a phone number to call!

The wand can be detached so that you can put the attachments directly onto the hose.

Thats quite ridiculous. I have the Roomba and the Dyson "Ball".
Although the Roomba is cool and convenient, the Dyson picks up all kinds of stuff that the Roomba leaves behind. I'm talking a whole "bag" load from the Dyson right after vacuuming with Roomba.

I have had this vacuum for about a year now and am very impressed with it. It is a bit heavy for a vacuum and sometimes the stairs can be a little difficult but any upright has the same problem. That doesn't stop me from tossing it up on the sectional in the basement though to make the white couch black again.

I got mine for around $450 from a B&M store price matching another and would gladly do it again. I haven't had to use the warranty yet, but if it fails I take it to the store and they give me a new one which you really can't beat.

I use it on hardwood and carpet both, with a 6 year old and a pit bull roaming around getting all kinds of fun messes everywhere.

Do you regret buying it refurbished, since they come with a shorter warranty? Trying to decide if the cost is worth it.

I bought this about two months back from amazon (refurbed) for $329 shipped. Required some easy assembly, and included some carpet fresh stuff which was a bonus. I was replacing my two year old Bissel that sucked because it didn't suck, and when i used this beast for the first time i swear it pulled my communion money out of the carpet among other things. The suction on this unit is comparable to my grandmothers 30 year old Kirby and 1/2 the weight. My only beef with the vacuum is it does not fit under beds etc, but has plenty of handy attachments to reach under there.

The other main reason for this purchase was that i have a pug that sheds about 3lbs of hair a week and this unit leaves my rugs pet hair and odor free! I highly recommend

It works great on tile - I have a house with mostly tile and four shedding pets. Just push the button for the hard/bare floor setting to disable the beater brush.

You can love or hate Dysons, listen to Consumer Reports or not, and belive the supporters are trying to justify the expense while detractors are just haters - but it all boils down to how it works for you.

I purchased a Dyson DC14 (refurb) from Woot! several years ago. I own a 4-bedroom house. We have two dogs who activly compete in tag-team snoring, stealth farting, alpine trenching, and competative shedding. We use our Dyson twice a week. The only maintenance I've performed on it has been to empty the collection bin after each use and cut the hair off the beater bar every few months, plus I wash and change the HEPA filters twice a year (it came with two).

All that being said, it still picks up dirt and pet hair just as good today as it did when I first bought it. Without exception all my previous vacuums have never lasted anywhere near this long - I've had cheap plastic ones that died from exhaustion and uber-expensive ones that couldn't pick up sand off a dry beach after a year even with a new bag and belt. I don't know which is more impressive, the Dyson that is just as efficient today as it was years ago, or the fact that the cheapies and the costly ones all become disappointments after the same amount of time regardless of how much I spent on each individually or how good they were rated by CR.

And THAT is what it all boils down to!

Cheers - Jon651

Ours is the allergen version, but we LOVE our Dyson. You'd be AMAZED at what it picks up. We have two cats (including a long-hair) and the version we have, which isn't even specifically designed for animals, does an awesome job. No vacuum I'd ever used before could seem to handle the fur!

It's a little bit on the heavy side for my taste, but nothing I can't handle even though I'm fairly small and out of shape. ;) I do empty the vacuum between almost every vacuuming, but I don't actually vacuum as often as a pet owner probably should. Those are the closest I get to "complaints" about Dyson. Oh, maybe the price, but I've since decided it was worth it.

I love Consumer Reports and can honestly say that their ratings are incorrect with Dyson. Our Animal has lasted six years and is still going strong. The Kenmore didn't pick up the stuff that the Dyson has. It is the best vacuum cleaner and this is an amazing price for the Animal!! I am tempted to buy another one but will wait until the first one dies...if that ever happens!

If you have pets and carpet, you must have this vacuum. It is not great on rugs over hardwood and is best for homes with carpet.

[quote postid="4498491" user="nicholsona"]I paid full price for this vacuum ....about two years ago, and I LOVE this vacuum.

I'm not really into the referbs, but if you're OK with buying someone else's returned garbage, I say you should get this. At $300, it's a bargain; unless if falls apart two weeks after you get it.

This vacuum is designed for people with pets, and it does a better job picking up the dog hair than my old vacuum. I have a Jack Russell with a rough top coat, and some of her hairs can be like little needles sticking a half-inch into the sofa cushions. Unfortunately, it doesn't get all these nasty embedded hairs, even after going over them 20 times or more. But then, nothing else does either. ....quote]

I see you haven't tried the WindTunnel...
we have two pups, one is a rough coated jack russell and the other is a hairy beast that sheds much more.... and our HOOVER WIND TUNNEL gets the sofa clean in just a couple passes.

If you have to vaccuum it 20 times, and it's still not clean??.. SELL that Dyson and get a HOOVER WindTunnel!

For what it’s worth, I already own one of these. I bought one of these Animal models at full price over two years ago and it was worth every penny. We have three large dogs and this thing cleans carpets better than any vacuum I have ever owned. I was amazed the first time I used it. Ours has been very dependable. Someone mentioned clogs and disassembly: We vacuumed a ballpoint pen once, and I did have to partially disassemble the Dyson to remove the thing – but that was a 5 minute job, with no special tools and without looking at the owner’s manual – and the Dyson was as good as new when I reassembled it. It is heavy and therefore a bit of a hassle on stairs. Overall we love it and would buy again.
