ROFL: This happens to be on my "'to-get' so you can 'to do.'" list already. Glad I procrastinated again! I hope the caulk doesn't sell out before I finish posting this...

Hey Woot!—Got any plans for tomorrow?

I need some new "noise blocking" earbuds. Icemat or Razer m100s (<-yes!), please. Not those Koss "custom fit" ones that have a lifetime replacement guarantee (as long as you're willing to pay for a new pair), even though I really liked the longer cord and the inline volume control. Nor am I particularly interested in those heavy metal ones.

If not tomorrow, don't worry. I'll wait!

Thanks.

Save yourself the headache and hassle. A caulking gun and some standard push-tubes of caulk will run you about two to three times as much at Home Despot, but using these toothpaste-tube style ones is an exercise in mess and futility. Grabbed a few of these once for a small job, and ended up doing more cleanup than I can recall.

Also, 'pros' don't use edging tools to lay/smooth a corner line. You use your finger, and wash it or wipe it off afterward on a shop rag. Ends up being neater in the long run.

The push tubes are useful for caulking the gap between undermount sinks and countertops. That is about it.

These tools(dap cap, not these) are handy when caulking shiny granite backsplash to countetops. But without a good bead to begin with, it will still look like Battlefield Earth (2000).

How long do you think this caulk lasts? The last caulk I got really didn't have the staying power required for the job.

Best Woot write-up ever!

Just in case anyone is reading for something other than LOL's.

3 out of 5 stars over at Amazon with 43 reviews.

And a video of news station reviewing it. Again, this one is fun to listen to without watching.

Or maybe perfect for many of us with 100 or more home improvement centers within driving distance who would rather buy the kit cheaper now online and have it delivered to our front door rather than get in our car, drive a mile or so to the nearest store, and pay twice as much along with the additional 10% sales tax. Oh, of course, we would also have to drive back home, too.

I have done many home improvement projects and am always looking for ways to make projects easier. I guess I could drive to my nearest home depot and pay $10 for just the edge tools or wait around to see if it goes on sale, but I've been putting off re-caulking my shower for so long, I think I'll buy it now for a good price.

I don't know, maybe there are 7 of us out here.

How long a strip of caulking can you get from a 5.5oz tube? I know that the thickness of the strip matters so let's assume just enough to caulk a standard bathroom tile. My biggest problem in the past was not spreading the caulk efficiently, leading toa lot of waste. The spreaders in this kit should fix that. Thanks.

Oh sure that's how it always starts: you give your girlfriend the caulk and try to teach her how to use it but before long you're the one working the caulk while she's sitting back watching.

Jokes on her though when you're the one sitting back and she has to clean up the mess.

In for two sets; 1 for myself, one for my parents, & the other two for my bestfriend who works as a handyman as his business. He had a set awhile back, but lost it on one of his jobs. He said these lil tools were quite useful. But yeah, gotta agree on the poor quality of the caulk they include with this kit. Easy fix to just buy yourself a better brand though if need be ;). Nice cheap price on these too.

I wonder if it's low-odor caulk... If you're laying down caulk in a small space, the odor can sometimes be quite strong.

Use windex and a rag. Spray rag - then lightly spray caulk. Then wipe caulk. Could use soap. But some caulk will absorb water when wet then swell when drying - not good.
