Nice write up...

Summary: "Give your kid this inexpensive item so when he loses it, you won't bash his head through a wall... Then you can go and get him another one!"

Of course. I can't sleep tonight so why not stay up for the woot off? Then of course why not start it off with crap.. this will surely put me to sleep.

I say let the kid get it himself and if it gets wrecked, they can get themselves another. Keep me out of it...

What the heck is "piano finish?"

Over 70 Woots since 2005 ... does that make me a Wootaholic?

Why it's a Boggy Old Creature, or it's Bandolier Of Carrots, or its Bagpipes of Consternation, or anything else that starts with the letters Beee Ohhhh Ceeee. It's an old running gag about the bag of junk(crap) that Woot sells with every Woot-Off. The site coverts those letters to a similar phrase. Big o' Cosmos just happens to be the current replaced text.

The file type support looks pretty good. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find a small MP3 player that supports WAV files.

Dang, wish I'd bought one. By the time I'd done enough digging around to discover that it has even *better* video support than detailed in the specs in the description, but, it *also* has video output (via AV cable that plugs into the earphone jack -- one connector in, and three RCA connectors out - L/R/Video.

Looks like it also has QVGA and can handle full VGA files (better quality when output to TV).

I think it'd be a nice "poor man's Zune (or Ipod). Both of those do video through the earphone jack, but they also do it via a dock, which this player doesn't. Big stinking deal, IMO (unless you're a purist who insists on using a docking system, such as a particular Ipod-owner living in this house who shall remain nameless).

That, and the camera built into it makes it seem like a hearty competitor to the Sansas (I have more Sansas than I can count, and two Zunes, and my wife has two Ipods).

UNLIKE the Zunes and Ipod, this player -- like the Sansas -- accepts SD cards -- so, for a total of about fifty bucks (if you buy a 16GB card on sale) you'll have a 20GB player that fits in your shirt pocket.

Also, more rugged than the Zunes and Ipods, since it doesn't use a hard drive (and the flash-memory Zunes don't have video output).

And if some day they port Rockbox to it, well, so much the better.

Hoping they list these again today (and NOT when I'm taking a sleep-break!)

These fade in each track with no way to disable that feature, so don't buy one if you are a serious audiophile or you will probably be unhappy. Unfortunately, I was hoping to using this for a file player during my live performance (to replace my laptop), but due to the fade in/out this is not going to work.
