Believe it or not, some techies value built-in serial on a laptop.

You can connect to a lot of equipment locally using the COM port.

That's just what I need... being home with the kids 24/7, running around yelling they want to "MIND FREAK" me.

That's their father's job anyways.

Sure they are a bit aged and the specs are certainly nothing to game on. But for office use or a gift to a older person who would use it for simple tasks it would be fine. I'm pretty sure that CPU is more powerful than more expensive netbooks have.

If I had someone to give this to as a gift I certainly would have snatched one.

I would hope so! I mean 80GB is such a huge amount of data, and surfing the web is so much faster without wires!

Don't most modern woot-offs end with some kind of caped mammal? I might be green but rarely do they end with a coveted brisket on corn.

That laptop is worthy of a Big o' Cosmos. $249 is a lot to pay for a laptop that sports a CDRW 80gb HD and a max of 4gb of ram. (NERD RAGE!!!!!!!)

They originally sold this model with XP and therefore have drivers available, so if you have a license for XP, downgrading shouldn't be a problem.

I don't think this is a terrible deal. if I had the funds I would pull the trigger as I could use a laptop and I don't need anything high end.

The good:

the T7300 scores faster than than most $250 laptops on passmarks chart (1,149).

It has one of trackstick, personally I like those, some don't but they don't really get in the way if you don't.

Its small and light.

On the downside:

The HD is only 80gb.

It has Windows Vista.

Keep in mind though that 80gb is a lot of space for a 'second' computer that you use to browse the web and basic business tasks.

It's more powerful than an iPad too, and that fact is about as relevant.
