■Roomy island-style keyboard design which makes typing easy and comfortable

As in Gilligans island?

ACK. I just bought another laptop with slightly worse specs for more from a local retailer. This looks to be a good deal. The price is DEFINITELY right (IMHO).

"This natty ivory-colored Samsung laptop...." Is there a photo that SHOWS it ivory-colored?

UPDATE: yes, if you click the thumbnail...

In description it says it's a white laptop? In the photos below it looks quite nice.

The linked ASUS i5-480M 2.66GHz for $570, I'd stick with woot deal (vs the additional $170 for processor upgrade & an additional 160GB HDD) unless your doing something that requires the i5, the i3 should be more than enough for most people.

*EDIT* the 1 year accidental coverage could sway you, if your the mobile type user. Personally, my laptop isn't very mobile, just the occasional business trip (otherwise sitting on my desk).

With that extra 170 though you get the stuff you mentioned plus a 1 year warranty and 1 year accidental damage coverage as opposed to samsung's 90 day.

Welp, you got me woot. Well done. Didn't necessarily need this right now, but I don't see the chance to score one of these much cheaper anytime soon.

yeah just saw that 1year accidental damage coverage... that tilts my opinion... personally I'm not very mobile with my laptop, but if you are the coverage could be worth wild.

The Asus is much better - 1 year warantee for accidental damage, and it's a Core i5 which is a big step up from a core i3.

The screen is still obnoxiously large though. I'd consider buying this if it wasn't trying to compete with my 23" dell panels. Who the hell wants to carry around a big piece of crap like that? Doesn't make any sense.

This is for my wife, who brings it to and fro work nearly every day. Something for me to ponder.

Does this have a built in camera? None of these computers ever mention it nor do they show an actual photo of the screen

Samsung laptops are the Battlefield Earth (2000)... I almost wish I needed a new one so I could get this, it's a great deal.

hmm... maybe I'll "accidentally" step on my wife's laptop when I get home later.

I'm actually really tempted but what I really want is a decent netbook so I can carry it around. I already have a good older 15" and I just can't imagine lugging it around with me everywhere. Bring on something smaller!

See that can be deceiving though, my laptop has a little box that looks like it should be for a webcam, but it's not.

Ooo, shiny laptop. If it had a decent graphics card I would be all over this.

Then again, I use my netbook if I plan on being mobile anymore and my laptop is just an overpriced desktop at the moment.

ok, found this on my computer hunt last night, and now I don't know what to do...any thoughts? I don't know much about computers--just that I can't spend much and want as much bang for my buck as possible!:
