Got mine today. Got it all hooked up, connected one camera, have it displaying on the montitor, but I'll be damned if I can interact with the DVR in any way, shape, or form.
The mouse has no cursor on the screen and left or right-clicking does nothing (I tried another mouse too).
Pressing any of the buttons on the front of the DVR has no effect.
The remote control does nothing (I tried known good batteries).

Am I missing something here?

Anyone have problems with the mouse not working? I tried it on a pc so I know it's good, just doesn't show up on the display.

Mine works fine. It does take a minute to start working when you first boot up. I think it auto hides also. When I need to use the mouse I usually have to move it a bit before the cursor shows up.

Also did you plug it in the back USB port? I don't know if the front one would work...

FedEx Ground, in many places, contracts out deliveries to local folk. If you got a van and you want to pretend you're a mailman you can get a job with FedEx. I've had many arguments with my local FedEx Ground depot (which is a completely different company than FedEx Air) about some of the contractors they've used to deliver things to me (stealing packages, damaging packages, flat-out not delivering packages and claiming they were at my house). I've filed complaints with FedEx HQ but they really don't care (I have a family member who is in upper management with FedEx Air Corp. and she said there isn't much she can do since Ground handles their own).

Best thing you can do, if you repeatedly have issues, is document them all and complain to FedEx Ground on them all, and keep mentioning all the previous issues. If it is the same delivery contractor repeatedly causing problems they will stop using him/her/it.

Got mine. All cameras are black in color even though I selected one to be silver. Did NOT get splitter for power supply so I can only hookup one camera. Everything seems to work fine though.

Ok, I had the same problem, and was ready to literally smash the thing into the ground after troubleshooting for what seemed like an hour. By sheer luck, and pressing buttons on the remote like a mad mad, I hit the "0" button, and heard a beep. The mouse appeared. I guess it's a way to lock the DVR, and you hit "0" again to unlock. Hopefully, this helps someone with their DVR rage...

Thanks. There was no problem. I heard a knock on the door, and I just happened to be sitting right inside next to the door - I'm usually not right there. So I jumped up and opened the door, saw the Zmodo box, and I saw the delivery guy just getting into his Penske truck. I gave the guy a wave and he waved back from the truck. But whenever I have seen before, I've always had FedEx Ground delivered to me by a FedEx truck, and that FedEx guy knows to put any package in a particular mostly hidden from the road place. This guy didn't do that but he did alright.

The video on mine was getting some really bad interference. Probably from my old house wiring. The camera's power supply doesn't seem to have a noise filter on it so I made a few loops in a ferrite core and this completely solved the picture quality. It's likely many others will have this same issue. A few loops through this will solve your problems: http://www.amazon.com/Ferrite-Core-Cord-Noise-Suppressor/dp/B0002MQGEA/ref=pd_cp_e_2

If you've got an old computer power supply you can usually find a few ferrite cores in it to salvage. That's what I used. This is what they look like:

Thank you, that did it for me! This is one for The Daily W.T.F.

I also had trouble turning it on. My power supply wasn't fully connected. I was looking in the manual where it was referring to the a power button which was just a USB port.

No fan so my first hard drive burned out. keep vents clear!

Web access requires IE with a ActiveX control that is broken. You must sit at the device to do any configuration.

I was able to get an App on my iPhone to see the video.

At best this is a 2 out of 5 star device.

Well ain't that goofy. Thanks for stumbling across that. I've got it networked now and can view/configure the DVR via the browser using IE and the ActiveX control, though I had to change the security settings to prompt to allow the unsigned control. Now I'm trying to decode how to access it via the internet, there are 3 different ports involved, 9000 is the "media port" which I presume the video stream is coming through on, then there is the web port which I'm not quite clear on the purpose of, and the mobile service port which is apparently the one used to connect via the mobile app.
The mobile app for iPhone that they guide you to on the Zmodo support site is called APlayer and is free. I configured it with the mobile user, password, and service port I set up in the DVR config, and I can "access" it using the local IP address but the picture is a thin wide band of jumbled nothing.
As for getting it to work via the internet, I have yet to sort out the necessary port forwarding on my Verizon FiOS MI-424WR router but I tried simple forwarding of all 3 ports to the DVR's IP address and it doesn't seem to work yet.

Shipping cost is brutal...

Monoprice has a similarly sized Ferrite core with cheaper shipping. $2-4 cheaper if buying 4.

I found this very helpful post in the thread:

genii69 wrote:I'll try to help. Go to woot.com and log in to your account (you may be already logged in if you didn't log out).

At the top of the page click on "My Account". Then on the left there should be a heading that says "what you've bought from Woot". Under that you should see the item listed. (Mine says "Zmodo Surveillance System with DVR and 4 Weatherproof IR Cameras" for example). Click on the item text. Then if yours is like mine it will say "your order is in.
you're all set now.
click here to view your receipt.". Click on that.

Then you should see "on 6/17/2011, you successfully wooted.
order 338xxxxx etc. The number is your order number (it won't have Xs, I put those in). Copy the order number the go to the Fedex site (choose U.S if you've never been there before). http://www.fedex.com/us/index.html

At the very top of their page click on "Track" (DON"T use the lower box that says "Track a shipment"). Click on "Track by Reference". In the box that says "enter reference" put your order number there (you do not need an account number above that box). In the box for "destination country" choose United States. In the box for "destination postal code" enter the zip code you used for your order.

Click the "Track" button and you should get your tracking info on the next screen.

I hope that helps!

No tracking from Woot, but got it through reference, arrives Monday. Glad I check the discussions here, saved some hassle, possibly equipment damage (just kidding). I've got a spare 750 GB Harddrive, $35 refurb special, found I didn't have a place for it in my PC case, only room for two. Yeah, it'll probably burn up in a month or two, no fan, and Florida summer. Can only hope it dies gracefully, and little or no flames. Maybe there will be room for some fans. Going to run it off a UPS, so should get the interference problem. What's the video quality like? How about playback?

Found basically the same today (only) at the daily ebay page W/500GB for $199.99 & free ship. Lots of these around, probably from the same factory in China, still not a bad little system for ~$200. Never had mouse problems, yes mine runs HOT & I keep a broom by the front door to knock spider webs away every few days. They look weird on camera.

Still no info on shipping to California! I placed my order early that day and I am surprised I have not seen the package yet. I also tried to track it on the FedEx website using my order number and no tracking was associated with that number. Hopefully it will just fall out of the sky next week on my doorstep!

PS- one a side note as this is my first post, why are all the avatars so strange looking? Anyone know how to get one from facebook?

Has anyone gotten the video to pull up in any web browser? I had it working on my iphone, but after getting the IE activeX to work, the iphone couldnt see the box. Also, the IE wont let me log into the dvr. I have all the correct ports forwarded. i can ping the dvr in cmd and it is seen with 0% packet loss. Anyone know of any good sites for diagnosing this crappy machine? The zmodo site is missing tons of pages and the .rar files I try to download are just garbage .htm files

I received mine. No tracking information, I think this might of been sent from a 3rd party source.

The camera's are crappy, but they work. Won't show you the person's face (unless close) but it will alert you to someone being there.

The Night vision isn't the greatest and if put up against a window it will just reflect and drown out everything.

The video does diminish over the internet, if connected to a monitor the image is a lot sharper, but still degraded.

I am trying to set up outside IP so I can post it and let everyone see the video quality, but I'm having trouble with that.

For $150, I give this deal a 4/5. Now to get a hard drive.
