Dumb question- is this the type of cable I need to mirror my Android to my monitor? I can't tell if the connectors are little like the port on my phone.

A good price, although I got the cables from the 2fer Tuesday a few months back and don't think I need a third HDMI cable. Only devices I have that use one are my Xbox 360 and an upscaled DVD player.

I will say that those ones I got were excellent, despite their cheapness. Odds are these are too.

I spent $17. It was marked down from $50. And it wasn't HDMI...it was HDMI's cousin DisplayPort. And I needed it to be high quality because I work in digital art. :-D

I miss Apple's ADC connector. No need to have a bunch of cables dangling behind your monitor. I wouldn't mind the display port if it supported audio so you didn't need to spend an arm and a leg for a true HDMI a/v out on Mac... but I digress.

HDMI ftw

Not a bad price, but the shipping is high. Go to Monoprice.com and you can get high quality HDMI really cheap. Do not buy those $20, 50, and even $100 HDMI if you are staying under 12 to 14 feet. Google HDMI cable quality test; place like CNET ran test on all brands and only noticed a difference at cable 15 feet or more. A 6 foot HDMI cable should not cost you more than $8-$10.

This seems like the kind of thing that would be included in the famous Woot B of C. perhaps they can offer one of those? Bar would move a lot quicker.

I have a very hard time believing the 720p-only claims - the cable has very little to do with the resolution of the signal it carries, unless it's made so badly that it can't hold a 1080i/p signal together through typical cable interference or not being made to minimum transfer speed requirements.

It's more likely a bogus claim to try to get people to buy a more expensive cable that is functionally exactly the same, but it's really hard to say since there's a lack of specifics for this cable - we'd really need to know which specification it's made for before we can rate it.

The table halfway down the amazon page says these AREN'T HDMI 1.4, not managed to find out if they're 1.3b or not though. The lack of the magic phrase "High speed HDMI" means they're probably not though.

wait - I did a quality post? When?!?

That is the thing, I have been looking for specifics on every site that sells it, including the Acoustic Research store page. They no longer have it, even in their clearance section.

Not one site that sells it even has the HDMI version that it is.

The only site that has any information is the Amazon store front. It is not customer reviews that claim 60Hz and 720p max, it is actually in the product information on there. And I have yet to find any site or information anywhere that says anything, especially anything different.

Please read the reviews. The guy says his cable arrived wrapped in bacon. And he got a 3 wolves/moon shirt included also. I think it was a joke making fun of the ridiculously priced cables on amazon.

Oh Boy ! Back to the "All HDMI cables are the same"/"No, they aren't" debate.

I can tell you this from firsthand experience. I bought some cables from MonoPrice several months ago for almost nothing and the connectors were so bad (ie. loose) that the TV kept cutting in and out. I ended up throwing them away.

Those expensive cables are not necessary if you stay below 12 to 15 feet in length. You can run inexpensive HDMI cables when running 3D video or having a large TV (55" or greater). For instance HDMI cables on monoprice.com are inexpensive but have great quality. I have run 3D video on my projector and TV using Monster ($80) HDMI cable vs. HDMI cable I brought from monoprice....no difference.

I bought these from Woot in the past, work fine but are cheaper on eBay and the same quality.

I can barely believe that this subject is up for discussion again. It is digital. If it works it works. If it doesn't it doesn't. Kind of like a bit – off or on. Remember the guy with the $10,000 bet that Monster Cable refuses to take -- that he can make a HDMI cable out of coat hangers as good as any Monster cable? AFAIK, it is still outstanding.

Heh, wrong. Size of TV or type of video content has no affect on the cable requirements. HDMI is digital .. as long as you can get a signal through it, all cables are precisely and exactly the same, regardless of how much you paid for it. $1 cable = $100 cable.

Anyone telling you otherwise is either ignorant or lying.

I use Monoprice HDMI cables almost exclusively and can safely say I've never had this problem. The biggest beef I have with them are the gigantic ferrite blocks they love attaching that have absolutely no benefit at the cable lengths I'm actually running.

That said, I just recently bought some more cables and found the build to be different in the newer cables despite ordering the same cable in length/gauge/specification. You may have unfortunately just been unlucky and got your particular cables from a manufacturer that phoned it in.

The Amazon page says this model first appeared on the site in July, 2004. Per the history of HDMI version numbers here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hdmi#Versions
HDMI version 1.3 wasn't released until 2006. Therefore, this cable likely only meets the original 1.0 or 1.1 standard. That being said, it should STILL support 1080p, because even the original HDMI 1.0 standard supported 1080p, per the wikipedia entry. What it likely WON'T do is 3D video or the ethernet over HDMI connection.
