What is the real total height of this device stored on the counter (from someone who owns it, not just adding up the specs)?

It looks like you probably would want to store the motor attached to the food processor container, because it would probably deform the splash lid if you kept it in blender jar.

Assuming that makes sense, what's the total storage height of the device (the food processor container with the lid on it and the motor above it)?

While you sit there and work on obtaining your "quality post" award, I diligently work on the virtually unachievable "quantity post" award. Clearly, I set the bar just a little bit higher.

According to the instruction manual posted awhile back, yes they are.

The key to cleaning anything coated with peanut butter is a good detergent designed to cut grease and very, very hot water. Essentially you have to melt it before it will wash away.

The question then becomes, how much hot water and harsh detergent will this device tolerate? Beats me. I don't own one. I just like answering questions.

I would guess a fair bit:
Easy to clean
- Simply rinse off the blades and stick in between tasks, and when you’re done for the day, just remove the proprietary detachable triple blade system and put in the dishwasher

I see this and the only imagine in my mind is 1:30am infomercials, showing me how I can make and omelet, a fruit smoothie to wash it down and then a margarita, and freshly chopped nuts as an afternoon snack.. And if you order within the next 10 minutes.. we will ship this for only $5.00!

The trick to cleaning immersion blenders is to use its motor to do most of the work. That is, most cleanups involve putting the working end of the blender into a large glass (or small bowl with high sides) filled with warm, clean or soapy water and revving the motor a few times. You should be able to rinse off the remaining residue under the tap; if not, repeat with another glass of clean water to remove more gunk first.

Of course, the problems with cleaning peanut butter are that it's 1) not very water-soluble; and 2) forms a thick paste. A hot soapy solution should take care of the solubility problem, but there's little you can do if you've managed to get the blender's motor to seize up when making peanut butter or other thick pastes. Frankly, if you do that, you're doing it wrong (not using enough liquid). You can -- with the unit unplugged, please! -- use a chopstick to try to scrap away some of the binding gunk to free up the blades, and then try the glass of water cleanup trick. In fact, you might be able to make a Thai-style peanut sauce while cleaning the peanut butter residue off your Ninja.... kind of a two-fer.

With my less powerful immersion blender I've been able to grind nuts (for pesto or nut breads) without too much difficulty; the 1000+ watt power of the Ninja made this a breeze, so I have no doubt that I could make almond butter with it.

I'll bet this would have sold out by now on Wine.Woot. I'd never survive a summer like this one without my trusty industrial strength blender. Frozen mojitos, anyone?

I think I'm sold on returning my brand new unused blender and getting some sort of multifunction device like this.

Looking to get perhaps this Ninja or the somewhat similar Ninja that is not an immersion blender (the Master Prep Professional).

What are the pluses and minuses of the two different styles (immersion versus non-immersion)?

The big plus I read about for the immersion style is that you can make soups, but I sorta doubt I will ever need it to make soup.

The other advantage I read about for the immersion style is that you can put it in a glass to make a smoothie right in the glass, but this one seems way too big to fit in most glasses.

With the immersion blender going into the pitcher, it seems like it could get messy due to all of the slots in the "splash" lid. The Master Prep doesn't have this issue.

Tempting to get this one because maybe I'll find some use for the immersion style, but the Ninja Master Prep comes with three different sized containers instead of two, which is nice.

The only thing that concerns me about the Ninja Master Prep is that one review said the the top of the blade mechanism is plastic and it melted on them. Don't need plastic or plastic fumes in the food. Not sure if that was just an isolated case or a common problem.

While you sit there and work on obtaining your "quality post" award, I diligently work on the virtually unachievable "quantity post" award. Clearly, I set the bar just a little bit higher.

Two words "snow cones". This thing pulverises ice like there is no tomorrow turning it into a very fine powder. I have both the wand and the blender and they are by far the best blending utensils you can buy. Easy to clean, works great for smoothies iced coffee and even gespaccio. Haven't made baby food with it yet, but seeing as how the thing effectively liquified anything it comes in contact with I think it would do just fine. One pulse chops very well 10 seconds will make things fairly thick and 30 seconds pretty much turns food into water.

Works VERY well. Maybe even too well for some purposes. TONS of power and multiple blades equals blending with only a few pulses. If you're trying to chop onions or something similar, just go very easy on the power. Couple 2-3 pulses is probably enough. Much more than that and you'll have onion cream on your hands.

For making ice cream, whipped cream, crushing ice, etc it's perfect. Blend the heck out of it. Very quick.

The best part about having multiple blades is not having to stop and stir your food to keep the chopping even.

Wasn't this $10 more a month or so ago on woot? I hate that!!! But I do love the product, works great making ice cream with just a few ingredients:

2 cups FROZEN strawberries
1 cup milk
2 tsp sugar or sugar substitute
and some ice

my 13 year old ice cream junkie daughter liked it better than the name brand stuff!!!

OK, finally got around to making gazpacho with the Ninja today. A few inexpensive Roma tomatoes, some leftover cucumber, green onions and bread from the fridge, a few garlic cloves and half a jalapeno pepper, and a nice local olive oil... AWESOME! For less than a dollar in ingredients, the Ninja made -- in about 30 seconds -- a gazpacho as good as or better than ones costing nearly $10 in restaurants! Maybe I should set up a stand at the local farmer's market... I bet I could make enough in an afternoon to pay for the Ninja several times over!

FedEx tracking says it arrived yesterday. ONCE AGAIN, FedEx doesn't feel it is important to notify me that a package has been delivered to the apartment offices. No note on my door or mailbox. Grumble.

I just got this and used it last night. It does not crush ice or frozen fruit. It quit working several times while I was trying to blend my first batch of smoothies. I kept having to clean out the blade to make it work again. I'm disappointed!

I got mine today, and was blown away just unboxing it! The heft and solid feel, and the SIZE of all the components exceeded my expectations. I immediately ran it with hot soapy water, then set to make a whole fruit smoothie. About a cup of ice, a whole banana, apple, and peeled tangerine, at first, seemed overly ambitious. As my son put it, it appeared as if nothing was happening. But I kept working the wand, raising it up and pressing down, while angling it around; and suddenly there was no sign of the ingredients--it was on it's way to becoming a delicious smoothie!

After reading all the comments, I was hoping this Ninja Warrior would do exactly this. Years ago, I lost a VitaMix blender in a break-up, and have been missing it ever since. The Ninja is exactly what I needed to finally forget all about my lost VitaMix!

Really? That sucks. :-( I just made the strawberry ice cream, and the frozen berries didn't stand a chance against the Ninja's triple blades.

I got mine yesterday. Washed it and made a smoothie! It turned out great!

At first it wouldn't blend the stuff, but once you get it going, all of a sudden you realize it's all mixed up. When you start it you have high hopes and that's when I was disappointed, but when I realize you have to put some muscle into it at the beginning to break up the ice, I was a happy camper again....

The smoothie came out great and the texture is consistent.

Excellent purchase.

I hate that the gear box can only be cleaned with a wet cloth! It is covered with whatever I make, and is a PITA to get truly clean. Wish there was a bottom cover for under the gear box! I probably won't use the food processor bowl because of all the trouble. What a waste!

This one is the one to buy. The mixing bowl has a metal peg at the bottom that the mixing blade shaft attaches to, very sturdy. The immersion blender in the blending pitcher is a winner too, and don't worry about the splashing, no problem if you keep a good grip on the blender and pitcher. I used it immediately out of the box to blend up a blueberry smoothie for my son, and i used it on Turbo and no splattering or mess outside of the blender. Hummus in the mixing bowl was a quick winner too, and i like mine thick like concrete and this made those garbanzos into paste in no time. A little loud, but what isn't in this range (blender=loud, food processor=loud, bag of ingredients+hammer=loud).

I just keep buying more and more crap...
