I got the Dyson D25 from Woot about two years ago. We absolutely loved it, until the motor blew up a couple of months ago. And on Referbs you only get a six month warranty. Great machine, but at these prices I went with a cheaper option.

Man, you are lucky you don't have to pay tax on Woot. If you lived in NY like many of us do, you pay tax here as well. NY sucks!

I can't help it. I'm a Dyson addict. I love my DC 17. Hate my cannister style. In for one DC 28. It's going to be my best Dyson yet! :D

I bought stuff. Imagine that stuff listed here.
After years of trying, I finally got that Big ol' Cornucopia. Oddly enough, it was filled with..crap. Now that's truth in advertising!

I have had one for about 4 years and it is the best! It is the cleanest vacuum I have ever owned. Light and quiet. This is a deal.

Dang. I was waiting for this to come back to woot. I just bought one off craigslist a couple days ago. I paid 370.00 for one, brand new still in the box. I guess I can't complain too much though. I get the 5 year warranty since it's new. Still, would have bought from here if I hadn't found the other one.

Swept my floors with my old vacuum then swept with the Dyson. Picked up a whole canister that my old one missed. I'm in love...

Have had one for years and it does a great job---but you better get used to dumping the catch cylinder outside or you'll be spreading dust all over the room where you empty it!

Is anyone else bothered by how many refurbished Dyson's are apparently available...based on frequency of appearance on woot!? I've never seen a used Dyson for sale anywhere...either people never get rid of them, or people cannot keep them running long enough to get tired of them....

I purchased my original Dyson DC14 as a Woot! refurb back on June, '07 and it's still going strong. Run whatever tests you like and believe whatever results or testing organization makes you happy but I have two benchmarks that tell me a Dyson is an excellent vac: My current unit has lasted over 4 years and is still going strong (past units average only 1 year regardless of how expensive or well-rated they were); and my NOSE! Regardless of how filthy my Dyson is, my house always smells better after using it and it has never emitted any foul odors or dust back into the air. That is the true test of a good vac. I have a 4-bedroom house with a combination of tile and carpet, and two dogs who are into competative shedding - therefore I know of what I speak.

The only differences between the "Animal" and a standard Dyson are the color (the Animal is generally purple) and the inclusion of a turbo brush head attachment for the extendable hose. Other than that, the base unit is identical in all respects. My DC14 was an "All Floors" model, but came with the turbo brush head as a bonus which made it identical to the Animal except for the white base color instead of purple.

My recommendations are to use a small pair of scissors about once a month and cut off the hair that wraps itself around the beater brush, and about once a year go over the entire unit with a damp cloth. I remove all the assorted elbows and attachments and open all the flaps and lids to wipe off the seals and clean out the nooks and crannies. Plus wipe out the cyclone unit (inside the dust bin) - you will be surprised as all the dust and dirt that builds up over the course of a year.

I can't say if this is the best price for a Dyson refurb (that is for others to say), but I can put in my vote that Dyson has been for a very good vac that has both worked well and lasted for me.

unksol wrote:In My Experience
Refurbished typically means:

A: Someone bought it and returned it. (Didn't like it etc)

B: The item was not working from the factory and was returned for a replacement. (They don't test every item thoroughly, just random samples to make sure they are meeting their quality standards)

C: Someone bought it and it failed under warranty. Most products fail at beginning(due to defects) and end of life. So it either wasn't used long, or probably wasn't worth refurbishing. A lot of companies return the repaired item to the person making the claim anyway.

Add to that:

D: The item had packaging damage during shipping or was refused by the recipient (either a retailer or an individual consumer) for any of a multitude of reasons.

New units that are returned and repackaged for any reason must still be sold as refurbs. I purchased my original Dyson DC14 over four years ago and from the looks of it when I unpacked it, it had never been used. In fact, I looked at the blades on the power plug with a magnifying glass and there weren't even any scratches on them from ever being plugged in.

Cheers - Jon651

If you think a Dyson is the ne plus ultra of vacuums, think again. Check out the latest one made by Kirby... it's amazing. otoh, it costs about 5-10x this Dyson.

IDK if it's the same DC number, but I bought a Dyson Animal upright 3 or 4 years ago and I've had nothing but issues with it. And now it's completely useless. I turn it on but the beater bar doesn't move one any setting.

Don't buy one.

No way is $299 a good Price for a reburb with 6 months WARRANTY. You have 2 REAL CHOICES and I DON'T Like BAGLESS. 1,Get a Bissel for half the money. 2, BUY NEW, go to a DYSON service center. They sell NEW for LESS than RETAIL.

Just wanted to say we bought the DC28 the last time it was offered on woot and LOVE IT. I couldn't believe how dirty our floor was even after a fresh cleaning from our old Bissell.

Everything appeared as new in the box but there was a note that said the bin could be cloudy b/c it was refurbished.

Anyone know who I need to suck up to to have them sell this again...like TOMORROW?! I know they have some left over. I WANT ONE. Long story on why I didn't get one the other day. Bought one from overstock two days before this was available, it shipped hours before this deal was posted, it was much cheaper on woot, I contacted Ostock to get # to return vacuum (we'd still come out on top after paying return shipping), they promised to price match, I accepted...and then BAM today they said they won't price match and just jipped me out of $103. Not even a friendly call to customer service could get them to accept responsibility for their mistake. They did offer free return shipping as an "apology"...but then I wouldn't have a vacuum. Woot, can you step up and be 500x better than Ostock and sell this again ASAP?! Please, with sugar on top?
PS: Ostock won't have my business ever again for being dishonest.

Ok, not happy with this!! I purchased this Dyson last Saturday... rec'd order confirmation and today rec'd confirmation of delivery.. only I NEVER GOT IT! It's my order number and it went to Washington State! I am hoping that WOOT gets on this ASP as it has been debated from my account via paypal!
I will update this post once this has been resolved or not?
I live in Arizona! This has never happened to me with ordering online.. I will be positive that WOOT will get on this pretty darn quick.

Hi All--

This is my first woot, just got the email tracking number and it was for something that was delivered last April to somewhere in Pennsylvania and I'm in Wisconsin.

Anybody else have a similar issue?

Give it a day or so.... These tracking numbers get reused occasionally... I've seen it happen with FedEx and UPS.

soooooo, does anybody know how to contact woot? They just sent me a tracking number that is 3 months old, for somebody else and um, totally not mine! Now I'm nervous.

ok, just got a reply back - pretty fast communication: "Sorry for the confusion. We simply reused a tracking number. Please disregard the tracking scans that are there now. Your scans should start by morning."

sounds good, I'll post back if I have other problems...

July 30th (Saturday) - received Animal. Followed picture book instructions - works like a dream, the suction on this thing is ridiculous - off to register my Dyson...

Same thing happened with me....got a tracking number that says the 4lb package was delivered in April and signed for.

I understand that they may have reused the tracking number, but do I need to contact Woot to get a new one, or will it take care of itself?

Thanks for any feedback!

Soooooorry everyone, it looks like we reused old FedEx tracking numbers on this item so it looks like they've delivered a while back. The tracking numbers should update with the correct info within the next couple days for everyone. Rest assured, we sent the correct item!

Got my shipping confirmation. There are references to the memory foam mattress (that was on woot a day or 2 ago) in both the PO Number and Invoice number.

Fedex also has the weight at 63 lbs. That sounds more like a mattress than a vacuum to me

I hope this is just another one of the tracking number mixups?

I had someone else look at it and we're pretty sure that it's just also referencing the previous item that the FedEx tracking number was for and also taking its weight. It should be a Dyson, but let us know if you have any issues receiving one!

Got mine today. As a test I cleaned my master BR with my Hoover first and then the Dyson. Unbelievable how much the Dyson picked up that was left behind by the Hoover. The unit seems really well made and user friendly. If it holds up for many years to come it will be the deal of hte century.

My first unlucky refurb experience. I am having to have it repaired already. I immediately noticed a very high pitched sound every time I push it forward. I think it may be coming from the fact that the plastic part that snaps on where the filter is will not stay shut. Maybe that's what is causing the whistling/whining sound? I'm sad and a little disappointed, but glad that Dyson is taking care of the problem. I hope it doesn't take too long to fix.
