Yes it is an HP. Just bought one last month...looked brand new when I unpacked it... works great... can't beat this price. Works great as a larger screen for my Macbook Pro. VERY good value.

Yes it's normal. It's not the "refresh rate" that eliminates blur on the screen. The old CRT HZ ratings have nothing to do with what you are relating to. This monitor would be stellar for gaming especially if you have a beastly graphics card that can utilize the resolution.

Here is a youtube video of some other sales place talking about the item. According to them it does have an audio in, a VGA input and a HDMI input.

Edit: Sorry this is the one with the silver base and speakers. Apparently not the same one. Lower I have Newegg links to both kinds.

Most times if the response time is less that 5ms, it is a grey to grey measurement, where as most rated 5ms are black to black, which means about the same.

For the price this monitor is just fine.

Yes! Didn't you hear about those opportunistic criminal blokes and plonkers rioting in the streets of London and who knows where else? Well one of those rioterds works for woot and since he was able to steal a whole bunch of these just SO greatalicious monitors, he now sells them here for DIRT cheap. Wicked awesome, eh?

Assuming this is the 2311 model, maybe others can help be more specific as far as which 2311 model it is. So far, looking at the pdf, can't tell exactly which product manual it is. This is the product support page:

After all these years of Woot not supplying any history of prices on past Woots, they now send me daily emails of the current Woot with the price, so now I will have an archive in Gmail.

Is there some other place, other than Wootalyzer type posts, that has a history of prices?

There is no limit to understanding.

Got one last time. Although it does not compare the the 27" Apple monitors my co-workers have (well duh) I do Web Design and it works well for me at a fraction of what they paid. I blew all my budget on an nice PC laptop (don't judge) & Adobe Suite and don't regret it one bit.

21 Wooted items so far.

Nearing the end of yesterday's Woot, I posted the following:

I purchased a nice camera on Woot and they sent me an email stating that they shipped it to me a week ago. Turned out they completely lied and they just shipped it, so I now won't have it for my trip.

I sent an email to service@woot.com, and the response I received from Woot was basically "tough crap, we don't care". Does anyone have any contact information for anyone higher-up in Woot than the basic service@woot.com ?

What a major letdown and disappointment by Woot in their initial order fulfillment, followed by horrible customer support.

First, I would like to thank the nice forum posters who responded. Too bad Woot's own staff did not take the time to respond in an equally nice way. Clearly random strangers are nicer and more interested in helping than the people who work for a company to which I gave my hard earned money. Says great things about humanity (i.e. you, the reader) and bad things about Woot.

Second, I would like to note that I have still not heard back from Woot, and I leave on my trip very soon. Very sad. Does anyone know any good contact names or numbers at Woot or even Amazon?

You would think in this economy customer service would be a top priority. Guess we would both be mistaken.

While you sit there and work on obtaining your "quality post" award, I diligently work on the virtually unachievable "quantity post" award. Clearly, I set the bar just a little bit higher.

To clarify I believe these monitors are only LED in back-lighting. If its the same one on Newegg, same specs and almost same price, then it is an LCD monitor with LED back-lighting.

Anyone else know for sure?

Yes, these are HP and yes they are EXCELLENT monitors. Can't beat that price point.

Bonus Comment: You can tear off that label and underneath it says "HP" and the model number.

On the one I bought about a year ago on Woot, the same "famous maker" brand, without and HDMI port though, on the back there was a 5" x 6" piece of thin black plastic that I easily removed. It was covering a huge "HP" logo.

Remove all that stuff, wipe the adhesive off with WD40, voilà you have an expensive HP monitor that will impress your friends, neighbors and even your dogs.

Dogs? Yes, images are so lifelike on these HD monitors nowadays that my dogs go crazy. See what I mean in this video I posted on YouTube:

1. You're welcome.
2. They also don't have contact phone #'s so they can save on personnel/$, I think.

See:

http://www.woot.com/WhatIsWoot.aspx#q6

3. Response from woot varies widely. I've seen them some nights respond within 2 minutes of seeing a post like yours. It depends as much on who is monitoring that night/day.

Questor

Bought three of these last time, super happy with the purchase.

Of course these are the fabulous "famous maker" that has been referenced several times, and no amount of tape nor sharpie, nay!; nor the lack of internal reprogramming as recognized by your OS can fully hide the famous maker's moniker... ;)

That said, of our three, one of the boxes was BASHED in, as mentioned in a previous thread, but no problems, one of the screens was obviously a demo, with the highlight strip from the store still on there and the model number crossed out with a Sharpie, the other two had no demo strip and one of them lacks the locking mechanism that holds it into the base...no biggie as they are so light it just stays in there when lifted.

The color reproduction is less than ideal, but for the price, the size and brightness these can't be beat at the moment.

If you're in the market, I'd say snatch one or three up, I'm contemplating buying 3 more, though we don't need them, even as I type this in front of a >decade old 400PS... ;)

I bought one the last time they were available. The box and styrofoam packing looked worn, no driver CD, but other than that looked factory fresh, still had the clear sticky stuff they use to keep from getting scratched. Has worked flawlessly.

Someone knowledgeable please clear up the audio in/out issue. How would one go about hooking up speakers and getting some sound out of this bad boy, both for using as a PC monitor and possibly as an XBOX monitor.

This isn't really a particularly good price these days. I bought a HANSpree 21.5" 1080p monitor for $110 a couple of weeks ago and I'm very happy with it. It's an off brand but the reviews on it are quite good. I've seen more than one 1080p monitor in the 21.5 to 23" range on sale for $120 or so in the last few weeks.

And assuming that the "famous maker" rhymes with fuel-it slackard, I'd rather have a no-name than their junk, especially their castoff disowned junk.

I had a similar experience at Christmas with some of those remote control helicopters for my kids. They were "shipped" but never arrived. When I asked I was told the order got lost and wouldnt ship. It was a rude response with no explanation or apology. Now my kids are helicopterless which will likely result in additional therapy.

I bought one of these from the previous woot sale of the Famous Maker debranded HP monitor. It arrived in a bulging package with minimal packing material, and after powering on the backlight of the monitor would flicker.

I thought it might be a refresh rate problem, but it would flicker regardless of what refresh rate I set in my display settings.

Buyer beware when it comes to cheap refurbished electronics!

They sometimes put a power brick separate from smaller monitors for easy mobility on your computer desk. I think it's a great idea!

Man I wish I hadn't gotten my massive 28" hannspree for $240 now, it's almost too big; 23" is like the perfect size for gaming/pc stuff.

Got two last time.
Sharpness on both is a little low. It is a *lot* low out of the box - turn the sharpness up to 5 and it isn't awful.
Very bright, no backlight control at all, so you have to turn the brightness down.
Anybody with an Xbox 360, you can run an HDMI to this and then buy a separate audio only analog cable for the xbox that you plug into the port you usually use for RCA/Component cables: http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Cable-Adapter-XBOX-360-Slim/dp/B002P35JMO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1313067182&sr=8-1
You can do something similar with some other devices, for example my Dish network PVR can use the HDMI output plus still sends audio out over the RCAs.
Second or Third the crappy packaging - these things are woefully underpacked and several people on the previous thread had ones arrived damaged and had to send them back (at your own expense for shipping - obviously more than $5). Mine both worked but one was popped apart, possibly from shipping - I had to snap the bezel back in place.
