It is going to be a long wootoff! Probably 3000 of these and selling one every 5 minutes or so. Hope there are only 3...

Just me.

Have to agree with most people. You could get a brand new Kindle for $40 more, so who in their right mind would buy this refurbished thing for this price?

The model is actually Eva Longoria. It's a little-known fact that she has "man hands".

Video Review:

I tried to find a video of one being destroyed, as it seemed more fitting, but didn't have any luck.

I have to object to the bit about royalties in the write-up. I don't know what other authors' contracts are like, but I get a 50% royalty from ebook sales, compared to 15% for physical books. Different calculations of publisher's gross income also help tilt the scale in favor of ebooks, from my perspective. I'm not denying they're overpriced, but at least some of that is going to the authors.

It is dreadful. I own one which I purchased on Black Friday last year. If you only plan to use it to read books, and nothing else, it will work just fine for you. However, if you wish to use the internet or any other features, they are next to impossible to navigate using the itty bitty joystick. (No touch screen here.)

The Text-to-Sound feature is both creepy and annoying, to be blunt. It is a very automated-sounding voice, and it reads extremely quickly, with no inflection. I can't imagine listening to a book this way - I couldn't get through a paragraph!

I have no tried using it as an MP3/MP4 player or for pictures, so I can't attest to those features.

To sum up, I bought it, used it to read one book, and promptly bought a different eReader. It's been sitting on my shelf ever since.

I purchased one of these several months ago...right out the box it had issues. HArd to connect to Wifi, extremely slow web browser almost like dial-up, and I purchased mine for 49.99 with 5.00 shipping! I wouldnt pay a penny more for it as there are beeter e-readers out there for less or around the same cost. Oh, and dont forget the language in the system properties is all broken english and the company does not provide support for it anymore. I think they went out of business

Anyone looking to get one of these should note that the company doesn't exist any more. also, augen.com and augenus.com no longer have company websites, so if you get this, you're basically hosed if something bad happens with it.

First I was like, "woah what a crappy tablet," but then I realized it came with one discontinued and often sought after Mini Disc!

Then I did some in depth research by looking at the pictures. Typing "Enhance" in my browser window revealed that alas, it was merely a small CD...

Forget you "The Book by Augen" I will not be tempted by you and your handy friend.

Or, if you want the same quality {ha!} but with a cheaper price, for $15 on eBay you can pick up a Literati.

I've got one [Literati] and don't hate it, but wouldn't spend more than $15 for anything like it.
