Go to the top of page one click on:

2 things: you should keep the special programs from HP, the quality program and the update program, and any others, until you are positive you won't need them. And to fully get rid of Symantec and McAfee stuff (and you should), you need to run those companies' own special deletion tools after decrapifier - they are linked on the decrapifier site. You can run decrapifier again anytime later.

Good luck with this machine, it's a great deal, and I'm not pleased that I missed it today.

ojohn (and anyone else who missed the HP quad) Check out the Dell Inspiron 570 Anthlon IIx4 630 2.8Ghz 3GB 1TB DVD RW DL refurb over at geeks.com better I think. I missed the HP too and got the Dell. Cheer up!

If anyone is still looking for one, Moofi Woot! has one that is almost the same for $299.99. The main difference appears to be a 750GB drive instead of a 1TB drive. Its a HP P6741C Desktop PC.

AMD Athlon II 3.0 GHz Quad-Core Processor
4-GB PC3-10600 System Memory
750 GB Hard Drive at 7,200 RPM

tolerance: a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward opinions and practices that differ from one's own.
BOC: 4 Including the very last Woot!-off B)C. One of the lucky few.

I still haven't gotten my shipping info. Fingers crossed I see something today.

On a separate note, does anyone have any experience with the Hauppauge 2250 TV Tuner card? I was going to pick on up to use as a Media center.

Thoughts?

So don't worry if you still haven't gotten a shipment notification. I emailed customer service, even though it seemed daunting with all their 'are you sure you want to contact us' lol

"We typically process and ship out orders within 5 business days, not including the date of the purchase. Once your order is set to ship you should receive an email with tracking.

Kam"

So I am assuming that we all bought it on the 30th and if 5 business days were counted on the 31st then they technically will ship by Tuesday the 6th. We're probably looking at a Friday delivery date, if we all get lucky. I'll keep my fingers crossed on that one.

Good luck to everyone and keep on wooting.

I would recommend looking at the Silicon Dust HomeRun dual tuner for over-the-air (OTA) free HDTV capture.

It's a tuner that you can use from any PC on your home network, and works over WiFi for watching or recording. Dual tuner means two PCs can watch different stuff or you can watch one thing and record another. They also have a model that takes CableCards for tuning/recording cable channels, although if the Cable company puts the "do-not-record" flag on the signal, your Media Center will honor it, but will let you watch the show live. That has nothing to do with the Tuner, but rather the cable company. I don't think those flags are being set/used by any of the OTA broadcasters, though.

IMHO, a much more flexible solution than tying your TV watching/recording to just your HTPC. I have my HTPC hooked up and it just grabs the tuner whenever it needs to, same as any other PC on my network, and it doesn't care whether your network is wired or wireless/WiFi.

The same thing happened with my friend's laptop order, so I'm hopeful. However, I would think the order status under 'My Account' would be accurate. Did you happen to check that periodically with your last order?

Mine should be out mid next week!

As well as 16gb Crucial RAM, 450w PS, and 2 more 1 TB HDDs. Plan to Raid 1 them for my storage partition.

I'll wait to see what I think of the Vid card.

Later on I may look into some TV or Vid input.

Going to be mostly used for Internet, MP3 and Photo Storage and processing. Only games I play are card games.

Thanks for your well thought out reply. I looked at the home run but I just don't know if I would ever watch TV on a laptop or other computer. I have TV's in most of the rooms in my house and I was just considering getting media center extenders for the other rooms. I will take a second look at the Home run.

Thanks again,
