I changed to the VGA cable and there's no sound. I guess I'm to assume that there's no speaker in the computer. Even the cheapest laptops have speakers.
Now I need to see if I have any speakers around that I can hook up. It works now.
Does anyone know if you have the DVI cable connected does that mean you have to use digital audio?
As others have indicated Desktops don't have built-in speakers. With out knowing the make and model of your monitor we are only guessing what connectors it has and its audio capabilities(that is assuming the information can be found online). Check the manual that came with your monitor to see what your options may be.
The system itself has 8 channel 7.1 speaker capability. A quick Google search for "DVI audio to HDMI" indicates there are converter/adapters out there but I know nothing about them. At $200+ for the one I saw(that might work) you could buy a decent 5.1 speaker set. Most monitors only have stereo speakers built into them so it would seem a waste of money to use such a converter. My $25 2.1 speakers work and sound quite well. If I had the space at my desk I would upgrade to 5.1.
DVI is a video interface only and has nothing to do with audio by design. The system does have an electrical S/PDIF connector for audio, but it totally separate from the video.
Your answer may be a simple as running a 3.5mm audio cable from the system to the monitor to get sound to work, but you need to check your manual to see if it is an option.

The Timex/Sinclair didn't have much of anything onboard, I still have mine packed away somewhere. The Commodore 64 did have an ok speaker for its time, also have it packed away with 2 massive 5 1/4" single sided low density floppy drives and lots of other peripherals.
No, I don't know why I'm keeping this stuff . . .
Power Mac - had a few. Still wish I had my Apple II, Apple III and Sun II workstation among others I owned. There are collectors that will pay a pretty penny for them. Hind sight!

Is wifi performence better with the external or internal antennae?
I plan on adding all the stock ram (8gb)to black one and adding new 16gb Team Elite ram to the grey one.
Sounds like HP is scrambling to put together enough systems to ship.
I'd say you got a better wi-fi option with the external antenna. Should give you much better reception. I have 2 systems with the external setup and and they have been working fine for 7 months now. Your internal antenna reception will depend on it's location if reference to the router. I would have to guess it would be less then the one with the external antenna. It is hard to tell without antenna specifications and HP hasn't given very much there. The card has the same part number, so I assume(bad thing to do) they are only changing the antenna.

It has the cable connected to this internal card as seen on the picture and then it's connected to this golden part inside the computer which then sticks out to the back of the computer waiting for an external antenna to be attached to. Without an external, this thing doesn't pick up any signals. Am I doing something wrong? I borrowed my neighbor's external antenna and attached it to my computer, I get about 2-3 bars, mostly 2 bars. It is a D-Link antenna. I don't mind going and buying an external antenna off of eBay but wanted to get an opinion as to what to get, so that I can get a stronger reception.
Thanks guys
First, sorry for the large picture. Couldn't find a smaller version and don't have a place to put it right now.
So you have this without the antenna:
I tried to find a part number, but so far no success. I get all 4 bars with this antenna on my system. I don't know why HP can't find one.
I don't have a recommendation right now, but I will take a look and let you know unless someone else beats me to it.
Update: A ZyXEL EXT105 might be a good replacement antenna. There are several vendors including newegg that carry this item. It appears to match the specifications, at least those I can find. I would ask the vendor if it is the correct match before buying it. Hopefully this will give you a starting point. Good luck.

You need to send an email to service@woot.com. Include your order number.
A question though, is it physically not there, or is it the system doesn't see it? How could HP run a final test without having a drive in the system?

For those of use who missed this deal (& it looks like it was one of the better desktop deals Woot has had in a long time), what is the most computer you know of, available online now, for a comparable (~$300) price? How much more can I get if I stretch the budget to $400?
Check out my post on page 7 of this discussion. It is about half way down the page. Look for the system thumbnail.
Update: It appears this one sold out.

How do I check if an item shipped?
Woot! will send an email to let you know the tracking number. The other way is go to the top of this page and click on "My account". Then click on the item you want to check on. The tracking number will be posted there if it is available at the time you check.

No. The hard disk has a recover partition built on it. You can create a set of recovery disks once you get booted up. As long as the recovery partition is in tact, you can boot to it and restore Windows that way.
