I wonder how well these will hold things like bees or fairies or blue and red potions. I've got a quest I'm going on in a few days.

BTW, as much as i love my lock & locks, after one particularly nasty incident of a completely ruined container and lunch, i'd recommend not just "loosening the tabs" on the lid to reheat stuff in the microwave. what i usually do is place a paper towel over the container and sit the unlatched lid on top of that--then you have no chance that the silicone gasket is going to attach itself to the container. trust me, it's a lesson you don't want to learn the hard way... >=\

but i must say that the containers themselves do a great job in the microwave; i haven't even really had problems with foods staining the plastic.

so wootchawootchawootchawant?! you're so funny with that money that you flaunt...

Now I can throw out all the cottage cheese containers and to-go containers that I use to keep my leftovers. Thank you!

that's a fairly decent comparison, but the lock & lock containers with the handles are always more expensive, and the water bottle is a relatively new addition that is in high demand and is rarely offered in big sets.

We've had these things for years, and they're amazing. You'd expect the hinges to break after bending so often, but none of ours have and I can't even remember how long we've had them.

As a side note, though, every time I try to post this link on FaceBook, it links yesterday's deal. Even if I manually type in just the Woot homepage, it changes it to link to http://www.woot.com/sale/20980
Not very handy.

I bought a 14 piece set on Amazon a week ago and I'm in love. Saw this and had to order it. I don't even cook and I'm loaded with Lock and Lock. The quality surpasses anything else I've ever used. The locks are easy to open and easy to close. You'll use it more just because of the ease of it. Stock up people!

yeah, you usually have to wait a few hours for the information to catch up for links/references. however, if you just post a status detailing what the deal is and link to www.woot.com in a regular status update rather than a link, it will do the trick, and you won't have to wait for the right image to show up.

One question I do have is how well do these work in the dishwasher? Do I have to worry about slight warping?

But either way, I'm in for 2!

Need me some Boxes Of Condoms!

I've been using a set of Lock & Locks for eight years now and they're still going strong! I've always wanted more but never got around to it. Thanks Woot, I just ordered some more.

I ride a motorcycle to work and use a backpack for transport; it's great knowing with my L&Ls that my food isn't going to leak all over the place.

In eight years I've only had slight warping and that was probably the microwave, not the dishwasher. They all still work well, only one container of the 7 or 8 that I have is a bit difficult to close. I'd say that's a pretty good result!

you make an excellent point.

they make it sound like you are getting twice as much as what you are really getting.

in earlier times we would call people that lie like that "liars".

nowdays people call it creative license.

I have a bunch of old rubbermaid containers. Was thinking of replacing in case any have BPA.

I just checked the rubbermaid site, and none of mine have BPA... yeah!

But, I am still tempted to get all new containers, these sound good.

Assuming the quality is on par with the smaller versions we bought here recently, then yes, they are fantastic quality and value.

I was amazed at how sturdy they are and how well built -- the lids snap on on four sides, there's a rubber seal around the rim, and the plastic is NOT the thin chintzy stuff we've learned to accept as standard fare for typical "Made in China" stuff.

Of course, the fact that they're NOT made in China may have some bearing on that -- on the bottom of each container is a VERY small label that says "Made in Vietnam."

The Pentax lens on my DSLR is also made in Vietnam, and the quality -- both build quality and optical quality -- is no less than I'd expect of a "Made in Japan" lens.

Vietnam seems to be pulling itself up by its own bootstraps, and modeling itself after the route Japan took post-war, rather than the route China has taken. (Japan embraced modern quality control/reliability engineering LONG before this country decided to implement Deming's techniques. He went to Japan when his own country refused to listen to him, and as a result, Japan became famous for top quality cameras, electronics, and automobiles -- and Deming has been a hero in Japan for half a century, and still remains mostly unknown in this country, other than in engineering circles.)

We ordered two sets of these larger containers, and if they list the smaller ones again, we'll get some more of them too.

These are awesome! In for three. I got three sets on sellout woot last time they were up and am very pleased with them. Very solid containers and easy to use. My conversion to BPA free is complete--the old tupperware is going into the garage. If you are going to pull the trigger, do it now, because they are likely to sell out.

I love Lock & Lock! The stuff holds up great and they're awesome for taking snacks onto airplanes. Plus I do a lot of miniatures games, so they're great for holding small pieces/bits.

Picked up some of the smaller sized containers when they had them on Sellout.woot, so definitely in for 3 for the larger sized containers.

Dunno if they've seeded it everywhere yet, but FaceBook has a new interface that won't let me choose what kind of thing to post any more. If I put a link in a status, it forces it to be a link, as if you had chosen "Link" on the old GUI.

okay, one last post for the night! in case any of you are interested in using these containers for pantry storage, here's some helpful info:

•the 18.8 C container will give you plenty of space for a 5-pound bag of flour and scooper
•the 15 C container will give you lots of extra room for a 5-pound bag of sugar and scooper
•the 5 C container will give you ample space for a 2-pound bag of brown sugar so you have room to get a measuring spoon/cup inside (you don't really "scoop" brown sugar <=D)

just thought i'd share...

Bees, from my experience with these containers, are going to be(e) a problem. Apparently, bees can't see the walls all that well, and knock themselves silly trying to get out. I may have had stupid bees. Fairies are smarter and the silicone seal works well to keep all dust inside, but be careful when opening, as you may scatter said dust, but make sure you let them fairies run out of air. I would just keep the potions in the original containers, they'll just slosh around in these things.

i appreciate the tip, but i also ruined (well, significantly uglified) two lids doing that--if your food is really hot or if there's liquid that can boil up, you'll be left with an icky white non-removable residue on the lid from the water/steam.

Hmm, I'll watch for that cuz I haven't had that problem. I do know, however, not to nuke with the lid on right way - can't open the darn things. But all in all, I love my lock'n'locks- just bought 3 sets.

Gidgaf

The thing about these and the microwave:
These things are plastic.
Water boils at 220.
Oil ... a lot hotter.
So if you have oily greasy food, and you nuke it, you could easily have 400 to 600 degree material. That's when they'll warp.
Even if they don't, many times you'll see or even feel a line where the plastic got decrepitated.
And my suggestion- get two sets. There is one size you'll use a lot of, and another that you won't. Give those away, and keep the ones you like. For the price it ain't brain scientist stuff.
