Does everyone else's say their name? Is Woot doing a mass replace where each user reads their own name in the writeup? I can't tell because my name IS Jennifer.

Jennifer is a common name so I doubt they are doing that but then I almost never read the junk, just scroll down to the specs.

Wife and I love our Lock-N-Lock's. Sadly, I missed the last LNL woot with the nestable containers.

The ones sold today stack, but don't nest when empty, which is our main gripe with the LNL's we own today. We're hoping the nesting ones come back, and then we're going be in-for-9, and replace our entire storage collection and have some left-overs. Yes, we're that pleased with LNL's.

If you have never had these lock-tab storage containers, you gotta give them a try. They're really great! And of the various brands we've tried, we like the LNL's the best.

BTW, the Snapware's (available from Costco) are pretty decent, and have color-coded lids for easy sizing... But we like the feel of the LNL lids better.

And, finally, avoid zapping in the microwave. These are "microwave safe" - but with certain (fatty) foods, the food could get so hot it melts the plastic - you can tell because you get little scorch pits. If you want a container for taking lunch to work for later reheating, the glass ones may be better for you.

Tri me, I dare say. One O'each, I dare buy. Now I just to move into my own apartment with a large enough kitchen, so I have a reason for having them.

Alternatively, I could ~accidentally~ ruin my apartment-mate (and land lord)'s containers---which are a nightmare to work around, find the right one, and hope the matching lid can be found for it---and magically replace them with these. My lease is ending soon, anyhow...

In for two. Three just seemed overkill. Have had a set of these for 10 years, and while they migrated from the kitchen to the kids' rooms, they have stood the test of time. Happy to get the big ones!

How much useless information do we have to wade through to get some kind of meaningful info about the product. Are we typing just to see it come up in print after a refresh? People, our time is money. Please DO NOT input unless you have these or you know someone who has.

They are, indeed. I used three of these for a series in a local wilderness area. They not only survived for more than a year in the Kentucky woods, they were still bone dry inside when I finally retrieved them. That's two 100+ degree Summers, and being snowed in a couple of times in the Winter.

GC159FD, GC159FE, GC159FF, and GC159FG if you are interested.

It's been an ongoing rant of mine that most of the big box stores stopped carrying these. They're well worth the money, but most Mart of Wal customers are too cheap to pay for quality. This price is a steal on L-n-L containers. Heck, the 18 piece Chinese knock-offs that W-M sells cost more than this deal!

I get these sparingly from my local grocery store. I say sparingly because THEY LAST FOREVER

I've put mine thru reheating tomato sauce/paste (spaghetti with loads of sauce) and remelting cheese (nachos), things that normally just *destroy* many other plastic storage containers, and nothing food-related yet has managed to wreck my pieces.

Yes, the tabs may be easier to warp off (compared to Tupperware seals), but these are cheaper and almost as durable. And I'm usually a heavy-handed person when it comes to food storage, and I have yet to wreck one of these.

Just remember to take the inner seal out of the lids (a fork prong usually fits in the "removal groove") every time you wash, or else any little thing there (from opening & re-closing at lunch, per say) will get nasty. But it washes just fine so long as you do that little step.

the BPA-free option is a good way to go. Less to worry about. L&L has more sizes/styles too (like a 2 Liter pitcher) for the storage-queen. I'd be ordering a couple of these tonight if I actually needed the storage now.

Bought two, Green for me, and an Orange for little sister. I hope they're as good or better than the ones my great-aunt bought or she'll never let us live it down since she buys hers cheap from the Asian market. Though hers never came with colored tops or the sports bottle.

Here's a link if your LnL gets stained from tomato sauce, etc.:

http://www.qvc.com/cgen/render.aspx?PONY PONY PONY!=class|4531&rewrite=no

Mine don't stain because I don't use tomato sauce in them & I don't use them for microwaving or put them in the dishwasher as I want them to last a lifetime.

If you put them in the dishwater only use the top shelf.

When microwaving, you have to be sure to unlock the hinges & place the lid lightly over the container. They will pit from liquids, sauces, etc. if they get too hot. Be sure to periodically stir your food when microwaving.

When using for freezing, don't attempt to open the container until it's completely defrosted or the hinge will break off. Also, be careful not to drop it when the containers are frozen as it will crack.

You can take out the silicone for cleaning, just be care that you don't pierce it.

If when you get the container, the lid appears to be stuck (suctioned) on, you can 'carefully' use a knife to separate the lid from the container if need be.

LnL used to have a lifetime warranty, but recently they changed it to 1 year from the date of purchase. If you need warranty service just go to www.locknlockplace.com & call the CS# there for replacement. I believe they now require you to send in a picture of the damaged part before they will replace it. Just be sure to save your Woot receipt in case you need that, too.

OK, that's all I can think of.

I love LnL. On my way to 100 containers. :o!

I've been committed to locking containers since I first laid eyes on them a few years ago. I'm actually glad these are a bit larger. They will definitely clear some space for me in my kitchen AND cupboards!

But just to annoy everyone, I'm buying 3 blue sets. :P

Lock and Lock containers are the best. I have had them for years. They are great for food storage - the chips stay crisp, and are way better than canisters for staples. Heck, I really could sell these for a living.....

By the way...

Are they really counting the bottle lid as a piece?

Really?

These don't carry the NSF mark so be cautious with their use. They need to be carefully cleaned after each use or you risk cross contamination. They might be nice and cheap, but take care storing food in something that does not have NSF stamped on it.

I agree...I'd rather they had 18 containers all sealed with level 10 force fields.

kelslee wrote:Yup - I never understood that. I guess they want you to think you're getting more or do the whole "Wow! 18 pieces thing!" But, I'm sorry, what good are lids without containers? I kind of assume they're going to come with lids - especially when one of the selling factors is the "air tight" thing.

flutejoyaz wrote:These Rock! The best way to use them in the microwave is to place the lid on upside down.

I've never used Lock & Locks but on my other plastic containers I'll just place the lid over the container off-centered so there are small gaps for the steam to escape but not a big enough opening for splatters to be a problem. I don't know if the lock hinges would get in the way or not. Otherwise, you can always resort to paper towels or paper plates to cover the containers.
