If anyone is interested in comparing tablet features, I'll be adding this new Galaxy S tablet to the tablet megalist this morning. I have a Google docs spreadsheet that gives the specs for all the popular tablets out there. Check it out.

This phone is filled with problems that Samsung has not fixed yet. They had to trade mine out for their next generation... which still has some of the same issues

Yes, Samsung has said it will upgrade to 3.0 soon, you have to give them time they just released it less that i believe 2 days ago

I will throw my opinion into this, it will not get Honeycomb (3.0), Ice Cream Sandwich (2.4,3.3, 3.4 or 4.0, don't know yet) is a very minor (miniscule even) possibility. Gingerbread (2.3) has slightly better odds but 3.0 (Honeycomb) will not land on this device, it doesn't meet the specifications for screen size necessary for Honeycomb. At least not officially.

Basically, do not expect upgrades from Samsung.

I got one ordered in the wee hours! Didn't miss this like other woots. After looking at apps for Android it looks like this will be worth it for the GPS stuff alone. Everything else is icing..... btw the people who live by their phone contracts for all their devices and can't understand people who don't, crack me up..

That's the reason I have an iPod touch, and was so excited to buy this. Not only do I not need a data plan, but I can use something like this to play music, games, movies, etc, tell the battery is completely drained, and still make a call with my dumb phone. I consider my phone a necessity, and prefer a separate device for non essential items.

I'm not tech saavy by any stretch, so I VERY much appreciate the discussions, links, etc you all have provided. I had been looking for an iPod touch (or similar)--but w/out the price--for gifts for my son & my sister--got 2 of these a couple hours before sellout. I'll be hard pressed not to keep one for myself! Thanks again to all for the great info!

It really does explain why none of his/her calls would go through, heck even finding the dialer on it is a big PITA.

Seriously though, if you use Google Voice and GrooveIP, it does become, for all practical applications, a WiFi telephone with about the same coverage as T-Mobile.

(Yes, I'm saying that T-Mobile has lousy coverage)

On everything else..You are either ignorant or blinded by your bias. Apple makes good products, there's no denying that. But you can buy a significantly cheaper android phone/tablet and do all the same things you can on an apple product. Don't be a hater :0

Glad to here they finally got around to it! I had two Android tabs and got sick of rooting, tooting and booting. I needed something to use right away, not another hobby.

This works with Google Voice so you can have a GV number ring multiple phones, also it is a one-time $5 fee to make unlimited calls.

GrooveIP on Android Market
