I currently have the Archos 43 and ordered this as a replacement - awful resistive touchscreen and super-laggy software drove me nuts on the 43, unfortunately!

The only good screen protectors i seen were on skinomi.com. i've bought from them before, and it does the trick well! they also have carbon fiber cases which aren't bulky, so that's pretty cool.

To anyone who got in on this and wants it to be a phone for free (on WiFi, of course,) a Google Talk number and SIPdroid (in the Market) are a great combination.

Can't wait for mine to show up.

So glad I dint see it before it sold out, because for a third of the price my Mach Speed 'Trio' http://www.amazon.com/Mach-Speed-Player-4-3-Inch-Screen/dp/B0049MM3GY does the media player stuff well enough.

Technically, the glass is always full.

This confirms my observation that you're still in 2009. (Or maybe your only experience is the ViewSonic G Tablet, which runs on Android but really hides it something miserable. Judging Android by the G Tablet would be like judging Windows by Microsoft Bob.)

Anyway, sorry you had a bad experience. But it's worth keeping in mind that your bad experience might not extrapolate to the state of the system now. I got the first generation iPod touch and thought it was a crappy joke. I hear those have improved too.

I enjoy Linux, but I don't use it on a regular basis, as there is too much more to be done to it. Ditto with Android. There IS a reason why Apple sells more iPads in a month than ALL the Android units ever sold. This doesn't mean Android (or somebody) won't get better. But ole' Stevey got it right and gets the sales...for now.

Android phones are outselling iPhones, In 6 months of Honeycomb, Android tablets have taken 20-30% of the market from Apple. Apple is NOT "selling more iPads in a month than ALL Android units".

Arguing about this crap, in a forum about an Android device is ridiculous and petty, try to keep on topic about the product being discussed, which, for the price and given the specs, is an excellent purchase.

I've tried Android and iOS. I like iOS much better but I don't care nor I want everyone to have the same opinion that I do.

If this has yet to be released. how could you have been waiting a year for it? I am sure you mean maybe a few weeks or hours at the most. Since most of us don't know or didn't know about this until today, well yesterday. And that woot would ever have this is even more perplexing. And if you were on top of this whole situation, You would know playbook will probably be having a fire sale like the touchpad.

I got one, but I'm not sure about it. I've really been looking at 7" tablets. There's so much confusion about OS and different brands coming out that I keep waiting. I had my eye on Lenovo and also the Amazon tablets, neither of which is out yet. I want something to fit in a purse. 7" might be a little big-ish. Though a 7" can be held in one hand unlike a 10", it looks like that size would make your one hand get tired after awhile. This size is a bit bigger than a smartphone, so it will be a little easier to see, but not as easy to see as a 7". That's my one hesitation, that I won't be happy with the small-ness. Well, I guess I'll find out. I don't have a smart phone and don't want to pay for a data plan. I'd like a portable wi-fi device with GPS capability. I'll see how this works out. If not, I can get at least something back for it on EBay, hopefully.

I have a 10" G-tablet and though I like it, it is kinda bulky. It's slightly larger than the I-pad so I am guessing that the 7" tab is not much smaller. I am betting that the 5.0 Galaxy will be just right. Yes my I-touch is too small. I am buying for the same reason as you are and I believe we will be happy with this purchase. If not you can surely get most if not all of your money back if you are not satisfied.

I noticed the existence of this player several months ago. I was thinking about an iPod touch but as a previous poster noted, the Touch is a bit tiny and the Zune screen is even smaller. I wanted something pocket-sized that played media and had WiFi access and the Touch and Zune were about it, except maybe an off-brand or two that may have been out there at the time. I looked up mp3 players with WiFi and saw these small Galaxy WiFi media players. However, they were *not* for sale in the USA and not scheduled to be. Either the 5" or 4" was on Amazon UK months ago, but that disappeared. There was also a descriptive display page on the Best Buy website with no link to buy or release date, and then that page eventually disappeared. I'm sure many people saw evidence of this player on the Internet, but unless you lived in a country where they were for sale, you were out of luck, until now.

okeysibeudu1 wrote:Is this galzy s unlocked

This Galaxy S is not a phone. It's a small tablet/media player that supports WiFi only. You can't use it as a phone or on a phone plan. There's no sim card slot to convert it for usage with a cell phone data or voice plan, either. Although you can get apps for it to make phone calls as long as you're in a WiFi signal area, similar to the way you can call out on various programs on your laptop when you have an ethernet or WiFi connection. I know, it's confusing, but just know you can't take the thing outside and in your car and make a phone call as you could a Galaxy smartphone (which this is not).

Emailed service@woot to see if it was too late to cancel. The more I thought about it, the less compelling this device is to me.

The good news is that this will make one more device that's available for those of you who missed this at the next woot-off.

This is definitely better than the IPod Touch 4G hardware wise. I did some research and the processors are pretty much identical, except this one is slightly more efficient and clocked at 1Ghz while the Touch's is down-clocked to 800Mhz. The graphics on this pumps out a bit more than the Touch. The only "downside" is the lower resolution of the screen, but who cares?!

It also has better cameras plus flash and a higher capacity battery!
