So you get two right-handed SideSleeper pillows? Or are they left-handed? Why not give you one of each? Does the earwell go all the way through, and does the resulting hole supply a smooth flow of unbuffeted air like a Dyson fan?

Would these work well for plane travel?

These any good for plane rides? I side-sleep against the window all the time and my neck aches even when I use a sweatshirt or coat as a pillow.

This looks like it would be great, but too many reviews about poor quality of material. Whenever I "test out" these infomercial type pillows (like the sobakawa cloud) in stores like Bed Bath and Beyond, my hopes are dashed. The floor models are usually falling apart and feel either rock hard or overly flat without shape. I would expect this to be a similar disappointment, but might have tried it out if it was $5 cheaper.

As to the woot item, I'm not sure everyone would enjoy the ear-well feature. If I slept more on my side, this might be a pillow for me, but I usually end up on my stomach (head turned to the side). I hope we see more specialty pillows. I'm looking for a stomach-sleeper one that won't make me twist my head to the sides as much.

It IS fairly firm, but I do not feel at all like I am laying on a brick as reviewers have apparently mentioned. I feel like it is just the right firmness to properly support my head and neck. It's different than a soft, plush pillow, but I think it's meant to be...and I find it to be quite comfortable (and I'm usually a fan of the soft plush type).

As for your second question, I am incredibly sensitive to things like that as well. I actually have a chronic illness that causes reactions similar to anaphylaxis, and the slightest chemical type odor as you mentioned will quickly trigger a reaction with me. Fortunately, I did not have a single problem with this pillow. There was a TINY bit (barely noticeable) of a plastic smell when I first opened it, but was just the smell of the plastic bag that it was encased in inside the box and it went away very quickly before I even slept on it that night.

Looks like something Grandma would put on her toilet seat. The little pocket at the top is creepy.

I've never heard of an earwell. This might be perfect for me. I have lots of earwax and whenever I put pressure on my ear for a prolonged period (aka sleep), the gooey wax acts like glue and I'd be semi-deaf about 6 hours until the internal canal "unsticks" itself. In for 2 ...

Answering as a nurse as well as an owner of this pillow: Depending on your mask and your body size, I think you could definitely position this pillow to where it rested more comfortably and properly positioned when sleeping on your side. I wasn't quite sure what you were referencing by "the hole", the gap between the two sides of it where your shoulder goes or the little ear part. The ear hole definitely wouldn't play a part in this.

I use them both at the same time- one for each ear, thus allowing me to use my headphones comfortably in the ear-wells. While not being conducive to sleep, these sidesleeper pillows are certainly ergonomic for aforementioned use, which means my partner sleeps soundly while my Metallica is cranked to 11.

I was on board when I thought it was a butt pillow, but this is some kind of regular pillow?

Meh. I have one long cat and one short one who performs this duty nightly. The only thing they lack is a button and their own slip covers.

I tend to start on my back and wind up on my side. Regular generic pillow for me.

That is SO funny. I've always been a side sleeper and often wished I could remove the awkward arm at night, maybe the shoulder too.
