sdc100 wrote:There is nothing wrong with modern polyester (unless you;re allergic to it). It all depends on how the fiber is spun. Microsuede and microfiber, for example, are polyester but spun in such a way that it's softer than cotton. And microfiber is also more absorbent. SOme hi-tech sport weaves, such as Hi-Dri, also breath better and dry faster. Being a polymer, you can create shapes that conform to your needs, i.e. monomers that can be woven into flexible opaque micromesh for breathability. Much more comfortable for the gym. That's why hi-tech athletic wear is often made of 100% polyester, or a blend.

Sounds like you work for the Polyester lobby.
For me and my wife they raise our body temperature significantly. YMMV!

I'd really be considering this if I wasn't broke as butts. Seriously not even enough to spare for this.

They'd make good over-wear during certain art projects.

Would LOVE to order a set, but I can't handle polyester. Even a 50/50 blend results in the most uncomfortable shirt ever -I can;t even IMAGINE how a close-fitting garment like a t-shirt would ever be comfortable when made of 100% polyester.

Next time, Woot, sort the shirts by fabric content and let us pick. Make the 100% poly ones 5 for $7.99, the 50/50 ones 5 for $8.99 and the 100% cotton ones 5 for $9.99. Charge a little extra for the better merch. Its cool. Everyone does it.

Nah, but I do know hi tech fabrics because a friend is a textile chemist. About half my athletic clothes are made of hi tech polyester and they're as comfortable or more comfortable than cotton gear. They stretch better, breath better and dry faster, especially the ones with a mesh construction. I prefer them in underwear, jockstrap, socks, t-shirts, shorts, etc -- anything I wear working out or doing anything strenuous.

Remember, I'm not talking about 1970's leisure suit polyester.

I am a REALLY hairy guy - lots of body hair all over. Polyester catches the hairs in the fabric and rips them out through the course of the day, amking the fabric an extremely unpleasant and painful proposition.

Cotton, ramie, silk, even wool, are all the only choices I can handle. If polyester works for you, then please wear it in good health and enjoy this discount! Not for me.

True to that!. last time I did shirts I got 4 of each of the same color (mustard)+(smoke gray)= caca color, have not used them yet. I am thinking about ripping them off and use them to clean guns and car grease...... will definately pass whith the "unable to pick color" choice.

Mine wasn't too bad on the polo shirts: 1 white, 1 maroon, 1 burnt orange, and 2 brown. I don't normally wear brown but they're ok. It's the burnt orange one which was immediately relegated to dust rag status since that's the color of our rival college (t.u.) and I work at Texas A&M University.

Not much downside here; any shirt that's too ugly for jogging/hiking will pull garage duty. Admittedly, if I didn't do my own car repairs I'd probably hesitate on this deal.

dsouzvi

quality posts: 0 Private Messages dsouzvi

To be honest with, I personally do not like this deal for these reasons:
1. I too many cookies some poooony sending me some random color and brand when I pay for it + shipping
2. In my case I would not even get any cloths selected by a third party even it was given away for free
3. I get better deals than this for T-Shirt at local Sams Club sometime having the wide range of selection

These are my 2 cents on this deal!

That has nothing to do with cotton vs polyester. It has to do with how the fibers are structured and cloth are woven. Polyester can be spun as smooth as nylon. Basically, if you're hirsute, you want a tighter weave so that hairs don't go in the fabric. Or you want it to be smooth enough so that the hairs easily slide in and out.

milacqua48

How can you beat the price? Everyone wears t-shirts. You pick out good ones at the store to wear in public and these you use as sleep shirts or work shirts. I go through a lot of t-shirts just cutting grass and general house maintenance and garden chores. When they get too soiled or torn I throw them out. These shirts would be perfect for that if indeed they can't be used in public.

I also got the polo shirt package a couple months ago and although they were not the best colors and quality, they certainly are good enough for a golf outing at a public course. I live in a country club and golf nearly every day and as long as I have a collared shirt on of some kind I'm good to go. I go through t-shirts as often as I do golf polos so let Woot bring on as many of these shirt deals as they can. In for two!
