Just received mine.

Powered up, had not been wiped, apps and data from previous owner. Worked ok for a bit, then started to constantly crash and reboot.

Did android recovery, no help. Looks DOA.

Got mine today, and everything appears to be fine. I really like it, not disappointed at all. The GPS function is great too.

It arrived in a small white box, inside of a larger Woot box. All the previous users info has been wiped. As mentioned in a previous post, is there any reason not to upgrade to OS 3.2.1?

The Good: Perfect condition, no problems, runs like a wet dream. The battery outlasted me.

The Bad: Alot of apps I wanted aren't available from the market (Netflix, Yahoo Messenger) and the website says they are incompatable. This seems odd because...

The Ugly: I have both Netflix and Yahoo Messenger running on mine but I had to do it the (not really) hard way. Yahoo Messenger I got from www.1mobile.com/app/market/

To get Netflix I used www.bazaarandroid.com/
It is version 1.3.0 build 246. It wants to update everytime it runs (and if you have the 1Mobile app it's capable of updating) but the update crashes, so just click cancel and it runs fine.

Good luck!

I received my tablet yesterday, opened it last night, yes I understand it was a refurbished item. However, Motorola could have cleared all the data from the previous owner. I didn't need to have access all the emails, contacts, etc. from another person. Just a thought to all that might find the need to send an item in for repair. I took the time deleting all the previous owner data before I could check out this Motorola Xoom.

Regardless of what the article says, the official android market won't let you install Netflix. if you search from the xoom market app it won't even show up in the market and if you go to the market website it will tell you its incompatible.

That is not true - you go to the droid market search Netflix and it comes right up - I have it on my HTC EVO 4 G - is it not the same Droid market??

The market essentially customizes itself based on what device you're using with which version of Android. It's very common for one person to see an app available and for someone else with a different device to not have the app show up in the market.

Could you please explain to me how you got Netflix? I followed the link on my XOOM and downloaded the file, but it says it doesn't have anyway of opening the .myapp file. Any ideas on what I can do? Thanks.

Just got mine. The update is installing as I type. Looks like a brand-new one (what I was hoping for). It came in a generic white refurb box, but the screen protector film was still in place and all cables in their baggies.

Ditto, mine is a brick after I updated the OS. Start, crash, restart, crash, now nothing. How does Woot's return process work? First a bad day at work now a POS? I'm going to bed.

When I went to the site I had to let it install an app. Then search for Netflix. Install Version: 1.3.0 build 246 from antarido. I had a hard time seeing it at the bottom right of the page but just touch the area after the download and it should open a little window that has the yellow line for the Netflix app. Just double tap on that and it should start the install.
Hope this helps.

Package arrived in a very cool Woot box and well packed. Looked like my Xoom was brand new. It had Honeycomb 3.2 version on it....Power cord and cable were still in sealed bags and plastic screen protector was on it too. Did not have to wipe anyone's stuff and the unit works great...thought the shipping time was spot on and for the price you cannot beat it.

Got mine today. It's in perfect condition as I hoped - no scratches or anything. Mine had previous user stuff on it so I reset it - not too big of a deal. It is awesome for web surfing but it is taking some getting used to typing on. So far I'm quite happy.

Mine arrived in perfect condition with no previous user information of any kind. For some reason I can't locate netflix in the App Store even though they should be compatible, but otherwise no complaints.

What I've found, with the help of some others, go to http://www.bazaarandroid.com, download 'Aptoide' , then you can search for Netflix on the same site, download it, and install it. It just worked great for me. Hope that helps.

Shipped quickly. Arrived in a brown Woot box. The tablet itself was in a generic white box. The Xoom has the protective screen film on it. Physically looks almost new aside from a very minor scuff and the words "Refurbished by Motorola" on the back.

After charging it and powering it up, I found it had the previous users' data, and the language was set to Spanish. Rather than poke around, I did a factory reset and started over.

It shipped with Android 3.2. I forgot to note the build number before it was updated. After connecting to my wireless network, I checked for updates and it installed Android Update HTK55D. After that was installed, it automatically downloaded Android Update HTK75D, which is the most current build for this device, to my knowledge.

Thus far I've found nothing wrong with the tablet. I do wonder how "refurbished" it truly is if they couldn't even be bothered to factory reset it before boxing it up. At least there's a warranty if needed.

REFURBiSHED?!!?!!?!!? I just received my Xoom, it had the old owners email, apps everything still one it! How can is be refurbished if all that was left behind? I emailed the owner and did a factory reset, but.....Anyone else?

Sounds like about half the XOOM recipents posting have had to wipe previous user data. Add mine to the list.

I think Motorola just started an exchange program for LTE upgrades for XOOM owners. I wonder if these are the ones that were sent in and they're just shipping new, already upgraded units out in their place?

*EDIT*
Never mind, those were 3G Verizon branded Xooms. New theory: $600 was WAY too much for this thing and these are all the 29th day return units.

I can see wanting to save time by just stamping the ones that look new and still power-up with a refurb stamp and boxing them back up for Woot, but a factory wipe takes all of 30 seconds. Bad Motorola.

I just unboxed my Xoom. Plain white box inside the brown Woot box. Protective film over the screen. No marks. Small "Refurbished by Motorola" logo on the back.

It was fully charged. It immediately prompted me for my account information, so no previous account was configured. I did a factory reset anyway. I logged in and it started downloading my apps (I have a Droid phone). Following the app installs I did the two firmware updates taking me to 3.2.1 (HTK75D).

But...following the second update my screen was blank except for the navigation and clock icons. I could access settings, but no apps. I rebooted a couple of times--still blank.

I did another factory reset. 3.2.1 was still in place. I logged in and it seems OK so far although it hasn't discovered and installed all of my apps yet.

Still playing...

I forgot to mention that a friend of mine received his yesterday and it did have the previous owner's account on the device. Seems to be hit and miss.

Motorola never seems to wipe these when they are refurbs.

Have a bunch of these I use at work, all are refurbs. General rule of thumb is as follows:

-When you get the device charge it up to full.
-Once its charged turn it on and immediately perform the factory reset.
-From XOOM home screen tap Apps > Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset
-When device boots up setup your wireless access point info

Out of the box the device should be at 3.2, which needs to be updated.

Once device is booted up go to Apps > Settings > About Tablet -> System Updates
Select check for updates
DON'T DO THIS UNLESS YOUR BATTERY IS ALMOST FULLY CHARGED

Device will go through and download an update, and will ask if you want to install it say yes.

Device will go through its update procedure and then will come back up. It can take awhile.

When device has booted back up you should get another prompt for an update (yep there are at least two you have to do). If it doesn't ask you about second update go to system updates option as before.

Select install now on the second update. Device will shut down, go into recovery mode, install update (little android guy with gears), device will reboot again.

Once tablet comes up if you go to Apps > Settings -> About tablet is should show as 3.2.1

Now shortly after signing into android market, the new android market app and other updates for tablet should download through market. Then you should be good to go.

Hows everyone liking their xoom?I got mine two days ago and I love it. There is no scratches or anything and it is quick as hell. For those complaining about their xoom having previous data--all you have to do is do a factory reset. And if your youtube or browser are going slow then you probably have too many apps running.

I am a android phone user and it is really cool because I can sync all my contacts, callender, etc. from my phone. Smart of them to incorporate that into the tablet.

Keyboard also works very well and is quite responsive. I noticed that mine would slow down with many other things running which I would expect.
Typing all this on it right now actually :-)
Overall I am very happy with my purchase and don't regret the buy at all.

I received mine yesterday, been using it non-stop and I'm amazed at the battery life. There is one thing I'm wondering about though, does everyone have a xoom that has a sim card insert that says "only use sim card after 4g update" ?

truk999

quality posts: 0 Private Messages truk999

Absolutely no complaints about the physical condition. It does seem fairly snappy, but I've already got an EVO3D, so good performance + android is not a new equation for me. Playing with it for 4 hours and not even making a dent in the battery is a new thing for me though and I love that. I'm also looking forward to checking out some Nvidia-optimized games.

In regards to the tablet arriving with old user data; it doesn't bother me at all to have to do a 30 second wipe - I'd do that anyway. What gets me is that if the screen blows out on this thing, I'm going to have a hard time wiping out MY personal stuff and now I know that if I send it in, there's an excellent chance they're going to slap a new screen in it and send it off to someone else without touching that data.

Same here. Previous user's google and twitter accounts were still there including a photo of grandparents(?). I did a factory reset, and updated Android, but the device randomly crashes and reboots at anytime within 1-15 minutes of use. Very frustrating, because while it works it seem great! I opened a RMA with Motorola. They will send an empty FedEx box to your address and you send it back with the device for free. They promise to return it within 5 business days.
