I had the latest driver for the 525m right from the nvidia site.

Try uninstalling the intel drivers and the nvidia drivers. Just install the nvidia ones, see if that helps. If not, then you nvidia card is crappers.

I absolutely love mine. I had no trouble with any of my computer. When I received my computer it looked like a new computer without any troubles what so ever and it had all my bloatware removed except for Norton's 60 day trial which is useful to me because I didn't buy a virus protector yet. I absolutely love this computer. I had yet received one single problem everything updates fine and so I am glad I bought this computer. THANK YOU SO MUCH WOOT FOR THIS AMAZING COMPUTER

I have tried every combination possible, old drivers, new drivers, mixed. Without the Intel driver there is bare bones graphics. I read somewhere the graphics that the nvidia card processes has to pass through the Intel integrated that controls the laptop screen. If you use HDMI out, then the nvidia graphics is passed right to your external screen without the involvement of the Intel integrated graphics. Everything seems to work as it should if I disable the nvidia card. It plays the newest games very smoothly. I know it doesn't make since but at least it works. My battery life seems to be shorter with this configurations (2.5-3 hrs). I have a feeling it might have something to do with the nvidia optimums controller. With the nvidia card disabled my windows experience numbers are 7.4/7.4/6.3/6.3/5.9 What are you guys getting for this benchmark test?

With 8 gb ram, scorpio black 750 gb 7200 rpm hard drive, and latest (beta) nvidia driver installed, I am getting: 7.4/7.6/4.9/6.5/5.9. I think my Windows Aero number (the 3rd number) was 5.1 before installing the latest nvidia beta driver. Interesting that your Aero number is so much higher with Nvidia disabled. I have disabled it before but I didn't check windows experience. I have tried one game - Fallout: New Vegas. The game's default settings are high with Nvidia enabled and medium with Nvidia disabled. The game is buggy and has troubles with loading sometimes and crashes during gameplay, but I think it is the game, because it happens regardless of which card is enabled.

Has anyone had any experience with the function-f9 button no longer responding? I think that is the function key that pops up the wireless manager which allows you to turn on/off the radio/antenna and pick a connection. Pressing the function button results in a short burst of processing but then no window/menu or request for administrative password.

I would not have a problem with this not popping up except that I often like to enable/disable the radio depending on my needs.

Is there a way to enable/disable the radio without this proprietary interface/menu? If so, that would be sufficient for me.

Surprisingly, the function keys for many of the other buttons still work. However, the f8 button with the "shush"/"be quiet" symbol doesn't work any more, either, which I suppose is supposed to unleash processing potential or something. Volume and brightness and trackpad and other function keys still function and pop-up their little displays.

I am running in a user/non-administrator context for protection so upon boot I have to type in a password to run lots of features. However, I've tried to see if the function buttons perform when I log in as administrator and it doesn't work there, either.

One "nice" aspect is that when I first boot the machine, this menu (radio on/off) always comes up. However, sometimes I would like to turn the radio on/off within a session and not have to keep the window open the whole time.

I did go into msconfig and disable the WiMax startup option at one point but I have set these settings back in trying to be able to use these function keys.

Everything else with the machine appears to be running top-notch or doesn't bother me. Does anyone know how to get the WiFi Manager to pop-up when the function buttons don't succeed at doing their job?
