I have a second generation, and while I love the image quality, my smart phone has it beat because the Flip has no exposure adjustment. I am always adjusting the exposure when I make videos with my Galaxy S and so I rarely use the Flip anymore.

I couldn't resist either...LOL. I have one of the 2nd generation and one of the Ultra HD 3rd GEN. I love them and have never had a bit of trouble with them so have no poblem with customer service closing down in 2013 as I've never had any need for them anyway. If you snooze, you lose ! Buy one while you can folks !

Does anyone know if you can utilize the 60fps such that you can look at each of the 60 individual frames that were taken in a single second. This would be useful when studying athletic skills and techniques.

When I play any of the Flip MinoHD mp4 files I have downloaded claiming to be "original" which I think of as "out of the camera", and I 'single frame advance' through the video playing in QuickTime, I only see 30 frames for each second of video.

Can anyone explain this?

In for 1.

I plan on mounting this on my Revo (RC Truck) and if it crashes, I am only out 40 bucks...and I fully suspect I will be crashing.

Do you have the last generation Flip?

The 1st and 2nd generation Flip MinoHDs are 30 frames per second. The 3rd generation (this one) is 60 fps.

In for 2. 1 for me & 1 for the hubby. Good deal and do the job that we need w/o using the expensive camera each time we need to shoot some video.

Good to keep in your car or with you to get some quick videos.

And if we do not care for them, I can list them on ebay! haha!

The Wide Angle Lens is no longer available from Theflip.com

I have two of these - a minoHD 4GB and an UltraHD 8GB. Actually bought the Ultra because I loved my husband's Mino so much. They're great for capturing video when you want to be unobtrusive. (Maybe this is why they use the Flip cameras to film shows like "Teen Mom?" Seriously - some of the shots in the cars you can see additional Flip cameras hanging on the windows!)

They work great, are fairly tough (ours have been everywhere), and so easy to use I have no problem letting my mom touch mine. (In fact, one of the ones I just bought is for her Christmas gift!)

You don't need to use the software to get the files off - just use Windows Explorer or Finder. Seriously - just go into the files and copy them. (Although note: You'll want to delete files using the Flip software or from the Flip camera itself or else the camera doesn't realize they've been deleted!)

I keep one of the cameras on our coffee table just to capture things the baby is doing - there's no running around trying to dig out a bigger camera, turn it on, etc.

For $40, you can't go wrong!

Not sure - but the buttons aren't like an iPhone where you need to physically touch it with your skin.

You can also get a pouch to put it in to keep water away from it

I agree. I teach a video class, and when you need to strap a camera on a helmet for some action footage, or a quick 1 min interview ... hey a flip is quite practical. I definitely would not make this my primary camera ... but a $40 supplement with other cameras is actually quite useful ....

That 8GB only does 60 minutes. I think the 8GB is a mistake. The model number is M3160SEU. The 60, is 60 minutes.

are you from a different country? I don't believe what you are saying is from personal experience... I think you are just reading previous posts and making things up. Why would you have so much experience with so many devices "freezing"? Does your "big-box" normally take new product out of the package and play with it? If customers are bringing it back because it is "freezing", why don't you have them reset it?

coolbro12389 wrote:After working in a big name retail store for quite a while now and seeing the flips and other pocket camcorders, when i went to buy one i defiantly stayed away from flip, they were by far our most returned camcorder, the other day i was selling one of our last flips on clearance and the dang thing kept freezing on us over and over, we had alot of them freeze randomly or say the brand new batteries were dead. tho for this price its defiantly a good deal if you dont mind having a extremely basic camera. i got a kodak myself for only $99 at my local walmart and love it, i have yet to use the usb arm on the kodak i just take out the memory card :P hell they got a deal now for $99 u can get the waterproof one with a 4gb memory card and a floatstrap
