I'm sure they have "ALL THEY CAN EAT" CO2 and then some. Especially since we don't have much trees and plants left.

What happened to the HP Computer? Did it sell out? I looked at Woot this morning, 7:00AM Central time and it was there. Looked later and it turned into a blower, what happened????

All of you booooos who complain about CO2 need to educate yourselves. CO2 is what plants and trees breathe, and plants and trees produce O2 which is what humans breathe. More CO2 = more O2.

Anybody who comes over to my house and complains about noise or emissions from my lawncare equipment will get beaten with the equipment, then I'll continue working on my lawn. I don't have time for your crap.

X2! I also ride a Yamaha Zuma 2-stroke scooter, it uses less fuel, 115 MPG, don't complain about my exhaust!

As I said in a previous post, I have a battery operated leaf blower and a fairly powerful electric blower.

Ah yes the "Coal Fired" blower goes great with the "Coal Fired", ie. electric car. Remember what ya use to power electric stuff.

Exactly what I needed (a leaf/grass blower). I have a gas powered trimmer and a gas powered edger. for $75 after rebate, this will clear the grass of the sidewalk nicely.

If it lasts 5 years, I'll be very happy. Longer would be even better. Based on the reviews it should be good.

My next blower might be an Echo, but this will save me 20 minutes of sweeping each time I cut the grass.

I hope this product completely blows!

Thanks woot!

Bought this one from Woot through Amazon a couple of weeks ago. Took awhile to ship (as always with Woot...) and when it arrived, I had to make a repair to reattach a hose running from the primer bulb to the carb, but after doing that WOW! It's a great little blower that I'm tickled to have come across.

Go to Amazon and read the most recent reviews on how to replace the detached fuel line. Disappointing to read how many have had this issue, but it's a really simple fix once you figure it out. (Hopefully, you won't pull a muscle in your shoulder after 100+ pulls and copious amounts of swearing before you notice the disconnected fuel line...)

Now, go blow something!!!

ok, so I am looking at my leaves in the yard and I really hope they are quick to get these shipped. It is easier to spend a few hours every weekend then it is to deal with a yard full of knee high leaves.

tacomamama wrote:How loud is this blower, compared to a Harley?

Harley with performance pipes is 98 decibels. I couldn't find the dB (A) rating for this specific model but it seems 170 mph leaf blowers range from 80-92. I might be wrong but I think I remember a difference of 10 dB means it's 10x as loud. So this leaf blower at it's loudest would be ~1/5th the volume of a Harley with performance pipes...And at it's quietest (80dB) the harley would be 100x louder....

I think
I wish I paid more attention to this stuff in school now...

michaelsalley wrote:I know this isn't the most helpful answer, but the honest answer is that I wouldn't know what to recommend. I know that Troy-Bilt makes one and they used to be pretty good, but rumor has it their quality has gone down in the last several years. (Whose hasn't?) There are a few companies out there (Billy Goat is one) selling them at insanely high prices to, presumably, the professional landscaper market.

Honestly, your best bet is just to Google them and read some consumer reviews and decide what you're willing to spend. The terms "walk behind leaf blower" and "wheeled leaf blower" appear to be the most commonly used.

The one I use personally was made back in the 1970s or 1980s and I'm not sure it wasn't homemade --- if it was a name brand, the logos are long since gone.

Rest of this reply is to the whole board, not to this post.

In response to everybody, who has made the claim that leaf blowers are useless and/or unjustified, I have one question: What's the "environmental impact" of the bulldozers and loaders that are required to rebuild an entire basement wall or worse yet, an entire house, after water cracks it and causes it to fall in? This is what happens to rural homes whose gutters are not blown clear of leaves -- it rains, the gutters overflow, and the foundation wall of the house suddenly has water pressing against it. When I'm walking around on my roof, I sure don't need an electric cord down around my feet to trip over.

Before anybody says "just use a ladder and a pair of gloves", let me simply remind that for those of us who live in a place that isn't perfectly flat as far as the eye can see, one side or the other of a house is very frequently inaccessible by ladder due to slopes.

Hm. Try gutter guards. I've got 2000 acres of forest surrounding my home (within 20 feet on one side), and they work real well.

My Worx battery blower arrived tossed in a box, dirty with mud stains with a dead and unchargeable battery. I should have known better than to buy refurbished. Now I have to work through their customer service to try to get it replaced. I'll probably get it after all leaves are gone. I've ordered the Hitachi gas powered unit on sale today because with a discount it is only $20 more than a replacement battery than the Worx piece of crap.

The 2 stroke isn't as inconvenient as some would have you believe.

Just keep to the simple rule of one quart of oil to every gallon of gas and you'll be fine. If it acts up - as they all do, from time to time, but no big deal, just run it with a full tank of any good vegetable oil for a few minutes to clear the framostat.

Happy blowing, y'all!

wr7en wrote:Will this work on snow?

Absolutely works great on snow, but the trick is to be out there blowing *while* the snow is falling. Once the snow's on the ground, it's pretty much too late, like with leaves. But if you're on the job early, you can blow the snow (or leaves) away from your precious surfaces as it's coming down.

That won't be a problem if you're like most guys who own one of these babies ... you're just itching to blow and ready to go!

My disgust with blowers comes from the thoughtless 'landscapers' who run these noisy things in the wee hours...and just blow everything into the street for someone Else to clean up, when it blows into Their (my) yard!
I have Always cleaned up my own yards, messes, and am appalled by those who have no consideration for others, and just do what is easiest for Them, and the hell with the world.
Rant over.

Possibly, but the math is off.

10 dB is double the volume.
3 dB is a barely audible change in volume

It takes roughly double the power to equal a 3 dB change and 10 times the power to double the volume.

Hope that helps.

Mark

There are a lot of non-handheld models. Some are wheel mounted that you push along, others are like backpacks with a wand you can aim (most pro lawn services use these).

Ditto. I told my wife we should get one so that we don't have to rake the leaves out of the new grass -- which a rake tears up. Alas, the blower still hasn't shipped and I have to gently rake the leaves off the new grass so it doesn't kill it.

I just wanna blow my leaves! Lets go!

I have the same issue. I was using a Toro electric blower yesterday and tore up a spot or two where I had the blower too close and didn't keep it moving.... I think the secret with new grass is to keep that nozzle moving.
