I use one of these as a poor man's humidor. Buy a hygrometer, small sponge and some cigars, and you're all set. Keep it in a downstairs closet to help even out the temp.

TychoCelchuuu wrote:These things are pretty much perfect. My only complaint is that you can't really store them in a compact manner: they're "stackable" in that you can put one on top of another, but they don't fit inside each other, so make sure you've got a bit of space, or do what I do and store them in the fridge and the freezer, full of food.

I bought two sets of these last time and agree entirely with this poster - they take up a LOT of space in my cabinet. But I think they're worth it.

Love, Love, Love these containers - bought them last time around even though the only color left was orange. They were so great I ended up throwing out all my old Rubbermaid stuff. Sizes are great, seals are flawless, and my favorite part is that the stacking rectangles and squares help me maximize fridge storage space. Buying another for myself and another for a Christmas gift.

I used to sell tupperware, about 25 years ago. (WOO! PUMPKINS! how the heck has it been that long?) Anyway, my cabinets are full of tupperware from back then, so I've been looking at these to replace them for a long time. I've bought a lot of Pyrex to use in the last couple of years and while I love it it's heavy and not my go-to container for quick storage.

I bought 3 of the Lock & Lock sets with handles last time, and just love them. I thought it would be time consuming to lock 4 sides, but it really isn't.

I'm in for 3 more sets today- what I don't keep will be given away for Christmas.

If you've been on the fence about Lock & Lock - they really are as good as people say they are.

Each of these would be a dollar as well(lid + container), and they are of better quality. And thank you Woot, for having our backs! My Boyfriend and I just got a new apartment, and no one thought to give us new tupperware!

I would suggest using something besides water to hydrate your stogies. Mold, mildew, etc can result.
Find a bottle of propylene glycol and you won't have such problems.

So we're getting married in a month and have the top-notch Rubbermaid Premier BPA-free set (http://amzn.to/pCJYzE) on our wedding registry. Nobody's purchased it for us yet tho. Are these so awesome that I should just cross those off the registry and buy these on here right now?

Help me out here, folks!

Yes they will. I bought some last time Woot had them on. I eat pasta everyday, and mine are slowly starting to perma-stain. They do take a bit longer to stain than the dollar store ones, but they will stain.

Each of these containers is $4 or more at my supermarket. Same at Wally World. In for one set, that's all I have room for, but it will allow us to get rid of a lot of nasty Ziploc containers and the like.

If you are looking for a recommendation, this is the best brand and type of re-closeable container you can buy. Bar none. Just get a set. The price is unbeatable.

apmorrell wrote:The same set sells for $34.99 on their site (http://www.locknlockplace.com/servlet/-strse-2339/%5BSpecial%5D-Lock%26Lock-BPA-free/Detail).

Definitely jumping in on these.

Actually, they have this set on special today... only $17.99.

Woot's still a better deal, but it's not an insane discount.

Lock&Lock:
1 Set = $17.99 + $3.99 Shipping = $21.98
2 Sets = $35.98 + $4.99 Shipping = $40.97
3 Sets = $53.97 + $5.99 Shipping = $59.96

Woot:
1 Set = $14.99 + $5 Shipping = $19.99 (9% off)
2 Sets = $29.98 + $5 Shipping = $34.98 (15% off)
3 Sets = $44.97 + $5 Shipping = $49.97 (17% off)

I strictly enforce the Lock & Lock Containers Only rule in my motor home. Too many in-fridge explosions using the other kinds of containers, I fear. Then again I drive way too fast over bumpy roads in that thing. In for three.

How do they compare to the Rubbermaid stackable containers? I have spent far more than $15 on these, and they do stack very nicely, and the lids both stack and lock themselves to the bottom of the containers when in storage.

We use these in our pantry in place of canisters for flour, sugar, salt etc. They work great, and being square, fit closer together and take up less space than round canisters. Plus they're unbreakable.

I don't get it. What is the point of having both 23 and 24 oz. sizes, and 10, 11.8 and 12 oz. sizes? When is that extra 0.2 oz. going to be excessive unused space?

The problem with these is they take up nearly as much space empty as they do full. I'd much prefer that they nest together when empty, and if one won't hold all the leftovers, I'll use two. All the same size. This also makes them stack better in the refrigerator, because they all have the same footprint.

I'll stick with the Glad and Ziploc containers.

If you microwave almost any food containing oil (or grease, or fat--choose your descriptor) the temperature can easily get far, far above the temp of boiling water. They may be heat-resistant, but would you try to fry bacon in them? I hope not. That's essentially what you're doing when you heat up foods containing oil. It damages the surface and the pigments in the tomato sauce have a place to lock in.

Solution: Just take the food out of the plastic before heading and put it in a ceramic mug or paper plate/bowl, or something else. Your containers will last 10 times longer, and won't get that "reddish haze" from the sauce.

i bought some like these at freds and love them .cost alot more at freds than here but they had a little lift vent so while warming up in the microwave they let the steam or pressure out. wish these had the vent also

budlor wrote:Will these stain from food such as spaghetti sauces, especially if warmed up in microwave?

Probably. I've never seen this kind of plastic (polypropylene, "no. 5"; same as disposable Gladware containers and Rubbermaid food containers) be able to avoid those stains, no matter the maker. However, if you leave stained containers out in the sun, the stains will fade over the course of a few days.

Polycarbonate ("no. 7") containers don't stain, but they may release hormone-disrupting chemicals (bisphenol A, etc.), especially when heated.
