How do these stack up to the Tritton AX Pros that I just bought less than a week ago? This sort of thing ALWAYS happens to me...

I don't know about a refurb of this, but Turtle Beach (easily) makes the the best headsets for the 360.

You'd think the cheap plastic one you get with the system or with a chatpad is fine. I don't know about you, but I've gone through 4 of those already. It's the only reason I decided to shell out the cash for one of these and I've never looked back.

Pretty good deal, too.

They offered it re-certified for $129.

I have the x31s and I've been looking to upgrade based on the (possible) improvement in sound quality with the x41s. Anyone else out there in my shoes? Any useful comparisons between the two?

I was just looking at these an hour ago at Amazon. Woot's price is a steal and I hear these are amazing. In for 1

For the love of god, if you're connecting your xbox wirelessly then keep the base station as far away from the xbox as you can. That thing just murders wireless signals.

Not that its helpful because I dont have these particular pairs but I have wired Triton and wired Turtle beach headsets that I picked up on clearance at a local store for only $10 each (repackages)

Ones the earforce X11, the other AX180, both at the same pricepoint originally and the Tritons completely suck compared to the earforce. The earforces and much more comfortable, have better features, and sound better. Like I said, cant speak for this model but in my experience, Turtle beach headphones are better than Triton.

I got the Turtle Beach Ear Force X11 Headset for Xbox 360

I LOVE THEM

The sound quality is excellent, but the wireless is susceptible to a lot of interference from any nearby wireless routers. My Linksys is about 10ft away and I had to move it to keep the sound from buzzing.

Seems like the review on Amazon suggests that it is compatible with a PC. I may be reading it wrong, but here it is quoted:

"One notable change to the X41s is the new talkback cable that is now free of the puck. This new cable is simply 2 standard mic connections with volume control and mic mute on a little box in the middle of the wire. This cable uses heavier wire than the old X4 cable, and seems like it will resist the rigors of use more efficiently. In addition, because they did away with the puck the X41s are now compatible with any headset connection. This means with the right USB adapter and cables the X41 voice chat can be used with a PS3 or PC as well as the Xbox 360. This is really a pretty awesome addition, and one that is not touted on the box."

Use the Amazon link above to read the entire review (very thorough).

I read that the headsets are cross compatible with the PC too because the wired version is USB and can work on all. You should have the ability to run this through any source that has an audio out input (PC, TV, PS3 etc)

Jordan Roselle has an incredibly thorough (and positive) review of these on Amazon with several comparisons:

If I had the cash I'd definitely be picking these up.

Just curious how these things connect to the Xbox360? Also wondering if sound still comes out of the television while wearing these?

I have had these for the last two years. I love them! I originally purchased the x31 and returned them for these. The sound is more immersive, definitely worth the upgrade. I bought these for $200 and I was happy. The only complaint I have is that I occasionally get a "pop" here and there when the base is next to a wireless router. For this price it's a no-brainer. I'm sure they are just making room for the upgraded model. I just bought another pair for my 63 year-old dad who needs every advantage he can get. Don't think, do it!

I had my pair for about a year and a half, and they were definitely the best purchase I've made headset-wise. They sound amazing, they're wireless, and the mic works wonders. Most reviews will say all of that, so I'll go into my couple complaints.

Once the little fuzzy ball for the mic comes off, which it will at some point, you'll be throwing your couch cushions everyday looking for it, cause it will never stay on. And boy oh boy, the remote is far easier to find that a small gray puff ball.

Additionally, if you get these, make sure you have a surge protector. I don't know how much the transmitter costs, but it was a sad day when my power went out, and everything but my transmitter came back on half an hour later.

Overall, the plusses definitely outweigh the negatives. This is a wonderful headset, and chances are, you won't hear otherwise. Just wanted to give fair warning about the mic/surge protector issues. Get them! They're awesome!

I have had the X31's for a year now and they are really great. I can't go back to playing Call of Duty without them now.

These are the top of the Turtle Beach line and for this price, it's a great deal. You won't regret it.

It uses optical in. My PC has optical out, as do most televisions (and the Xbox 360 and PS3). You might need some sort of adapter for a Mac, I'm not sure which models do optical by default.

As a bonus, the easiest way to handle this is to route all the sound over the HDMI connections to the television, and then use the optical out to connect to the headset. So, it becomes a headset for Xbox 360, PS3, Blu-ray, and anything else hooked into your television.

The best and easiest way I can describe it is; The X31 sound mono-ish and the X41 have a great deal of depth and is very immersive. I had both and I'm glad I returned them for the X41.

I'd have to look at what my hubby has, but I gave him a Turtle Beach headset about 2 years ago for Christmas, and I'll be honest, it saved our marriage. He has the one with the microphone, and we have an Xbox 360, and this is the headset we have is perfect. He says he can hear "people" aka "snipers" and "enemies" in great surround sound. No matter the Turtle Beach product, it seems to be high quality.

Im assuming these fancier wireless ones work similarly to the wired x11s that work on anything with audio out and a powered USB port, but the microphone only works on the PC or Xbox360. Ive tried on a PS3, you can hear the mic within your headset but it isnt recognized by the ps3.

If you have an HD tv with audio out and a USB service port, the x11s work as nice late night TV headphones. Maybe someone with this model can confirm if you can do that with these too

Thanks! I have loved my x31s but I definitely found them lacking in some regards, I just was never able to say definitively where I wanted the sound to be improved. I went ahead and bought an x41, as I'm sure I can sell my x31 set on ebay/craigslist for $30-$40.

I always wondered with these. Do you hear game play as well as your chat/party? I wouldn't see the use if this was for chat/party only.

So I just read turtle beach's site on these headphones. Apparently you need some sort of USB adapter (that of course you have to buy from them) in order to get audio. And on top of that, if you want to chat, you need to buy yet another cable for it to work. You would be better off buying one of their PC headphones than trying to rig up a woot deal with more cables and adapters.

Yes, gameplay + chat functionality. On that note, you increase/decrease the volume of the chat functionality separate from the in-game sounds. i.e., you can mute everybody essentially by turning the chat volume all the way down.

Oh man, so very tempted... I actually have this exact set in my Amazon cart for MW3, but..

Refurbished.. that could mean anything from barely open-box to reeks-of-bongwater and cigars, with some cat hair, stains, and curly hairs of questionable origin in the ear pads.

I wish Woot would clarify a bit. Are these customer returns / seconds / what.

fyi - if you're like me and PREFER the puck for easy muting without removing your hand from the controller - you can buy the puck separately for like 5.00 from TB.

I have the x31's - LOVE them... seriously considering these to replace that set.

I have owned 2 Turtle Beach headsets previously. First, the X11, then the PX21. The brand in general is great. Both sets are comfortable for long periods of time and have great sound. I tried out a wireless set at my Brother-in-laws, probably this model but I am not positive, and they sounded just as decent as my wired sets.

I've owned this exact model for well over a year.....and if I had to make the choice again, I wouldn't buy the same product.

YES, the sound quality is excellent and YES, they're super comfortable....but the battery life is really poor (Maybe four gaming sessions (about 3 hours each) with a day or two of vampire leaching while turned off between sessions and you'll need to swap in two more fresh AAA's). Rechargeable AAA's are an option, but plan on having your headset die suddenly in the middle of marathon gaming sessions with those, as they don't hold much of a charge to begin with. You'll know when your batteries are going out by the buzzing/whining/popping you'll get right before they just suddenly die on you.

Also, they use a very crowded wireless spectrum. If you live in an apartment complex, there is a very good chance you're going to get interference (Whining/buzzing/popping).

If you don't have to worry about wireless interference and swapping batteries constantly doesn't bother you, they're really a good product. Otherwise, go with the Astros or Tritons.

I have a pair of x31's with the DSS box - it's almost exactly the same thing as these, just not as good. I've only had them a few months and paid quite a bit more.

These are the SINGLE BEST ACCESSORY you can buy for your Xbox 360. Single player OR multiplayer.

Buy them.

Have them, love them, suggest them and 2-3 pairs of rechargeable batteries so you always are good to go. I use the Optical TOSLINK digital audio for xbox. Will never go back. Night and day. Love them. Bring them to LAN parties and everyone always wants to try them. Some end up buying them too. What they say about the little foam mic cover is true, be careful not to lose it. It likes to slip off if you drop or throw your headset. No biggie, just pick it up and put it back on before you lose it. Also, put your cable box sound into the aux rca inputs (white red) to listen to TV when your xbox is not on. No manual switching, it autodetects your xbox is off and puts the aux through. Perfect. Sound epic. Movies are great too.
