I think someone may have tripped over the cable for the Woot-off spinning lights and hit the panic button, which sent a message to the fire company. The fire company hurried over, sprayed water all over the Woot offices, which shorted Woot's little power grid, the lights went out, and the hamster in the wheel left, thinking it was a shift change. The sister sites are on separate power grids, so there was no effect on them. They'll just blame the whole thing on the Fed testing the Emergency Alert system, and we'll all buy that reason.
