Maybe some people don't need to play MW3. Maybe some people just want to do EVERYTHING other than play games, and save a few bux in the process. "stellar specs" is relative to the task at hand. This one has "stellar specs" if you're not one of the elitist 1% that waste their lives playing games.

I thought this was my exact laptop that I bought last month, but then I learned mine was model 7551G-7606! Ha! That makes it different! It's not like the form factor and specifications being the same mean anything. It doesn't matter that this is about $130 less than what I paid! It's completely different!

...anyways the one I have lasts 2 hours without being plugged into the wall. This one's probably the same. Not really made for long flights, more for a portable at-home computer. The mouse buttons on it are hard to press as well.

I've been trying to figure out why the WootOffs are just not the same since Amazon, and I think that it is because they've lost the quirk? The Dyson fan is close. But where are the leak frogs, and USB dancing dolls? Sure they have tech but they don't have nerd appeal tech

Because it's cheap? I have the exact same laptop except it's the intel i3 version with the hd3000 graphics.. But I happen to know the speed with this quad core is pretty close, and the graphics card is pretty close too. The hd4250 graphics was built onto my desktop motherboard and used it until I bought an ACTUAL graphics card... However, it played games such as Team Fortress 2 or Half-Life 2 absolutely fine.

No way this thing gets 3 hours. I have a 15.6" laptop with the 2ghz version of this processor and when using the optional 4250 I am lucky to get 2.5 hours of non-intensive use. No way a 2.2ghz machine with a larger screen gets more battery life. I bet this thing gets 2 hours, tops.

Do you really need 16GB of memory on a laptop? I'm not an expert but I don't think anything but the newest high end laptops support that amount.

It has nothing to do with being an Acer... It has to do with a combination of bloatware and a slow hard drive.

I concur (and agree with you)
It would mean more scouring the net for deals with items like what thinkgeek.com has every day for prices that are too high.

They do have that stuff occasionally. If they kept selling all that crap, people would stop buying it. I actually want good crap, not just crap that I would never use. I won't purchase an item unless I have a use for it.

Curious how this compares to my Acer AS7739Z-4439 I got new for $300 in a Fry's one day sale.

I haven't opened it, since I'm reconsidering whether it's enough despite being a great deal.

If it's a factory refurb they come out the same if not better than new items. Every one is quality tested instead of just a random here and there. But for $400 I kinda agree....

As I said earlier, I have the intel i3 version of this laptop, and I can get A TON of battery life... Way better than my last 3 year old laptop. Not plugged in, and have been browsing the internet, this is pretty accurate --> http://i.imgur.com/7kibb.png

But I do think the fact it's an i3 makes the battery life much better, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm tempted... My laptop is pretty wheat grass for games and this would undoubtedly be "better", but I don't really feel as it is necessary as I don't game on my laptop often and my laptop is working pretty well for the little I use it now that I have an iPad.

True that the market might get glutted with quirk however it did not seem to in the prior WootOffs and I believe that it is because there is always someone new to buy. And truth be told most often it wasn't uselass so much as it was usefull with style.

No doubt about it. Anything with a 17" screen is not made for ANY flight, unless you have your own plane, or the passenger in the seat next to you does not mind having either you or a computer in their lap (a true laptop???)

I use this sort of thing for exactly what you said, something I can move around the house (but typically keep plugged in). The netbook leaves the house with me, should I need it.

To be honest, Alienware is way overpriced. My guess is he wants a laptop that has the "cool" factor that Alienware typically has. It's just a computer. Don't overspend just to get the name.

You would be fine going with a decent Toshiba, Lenovo, Acer, Dell, etc.
