As already mentioned, you'll need a good video card and that means you'll need to upgrade the Power Supply.

Depends on the maker. Usually, computer manufacturers leave it up to the end-user to get a USB adapter for wifi.

That's not always true you can get a video card that that isn't going to consume a lot of power a good 100 dollar video card will play most came good. a GTX or something you shouldn't have to upgrade the power supply

I bought a very similar desktop from woot on October 21st, and it has WiFi built-in:

HP P7 Pavilion Quad Core Desktop with 1.5TB Hard Drive
You ordered 1 HP Pavilion P7-1074 Desktop, AMD Phenom II 2.9Ghz, 8GB, 1.5TB, ATI 4200, 802.11n, W7HP .

I put a Radeon 5770 series in my craptastic Dell and it works well. You can probably pick one up for $100-ish. Check Newegg. Has enough oomph for stuff I do. I'm not a big gamer. I do have a guilty love of Sins of a Solar Empire, but that's not demanding. A 5770 will probably be more than plenty for you with this computer.

I recant my statement you will need a new power supply i though it had a 400watt.

I put a GT 430 in mine, and I upgraded the power supply, as the card says it requires a 300W power supply. I don't think you will find many video cards that will go as low as 250W.

GTX460 card, its a good card, and plays all the games with no problem, under 200.00 now I think. Also you will need to upgrade your power supply,a 500 watt will be fine.

well this one has the slot for it. I defy you to tell me what else that slot could be used for. maybe a bluetooth module? and mine has a WiFi card in that slot, so I guess I got lucky.

Oh man, that's terrible. Given i'm buying as a gift, that is like worst case scenario. Hope the other's experiences are more typical.

Ok, not very because I had to pay for it...

From what I'm reading, I am the exception but what is hard to deal with is the lack of help to resolve this issue. Woot says its HPs problem and HP say it's Woots problem and I'm stuck with an expensive door stop. Having trouble getting my $ back and it's only 1 week old. I'm so BUMMED!

I wasn't arguing whether that slot can be used for wireless, but so could any of the standard PCI slots. My point was simply a lot of desktops don't come with wireless standard. As for other options with a PCI Express x1 minicard slot I don't have much idea. Even searching NewEgg doesn't shed light on that.

I think you are missing the fact that it is a DESKTOP computer. Plug it in to an ethernet cable. If you can't run a cable, then get a wireless add on. I support manufacturers NOT including something that is not necessary and keeping the price lower. I bought a desktop that had a wireless card in it already. The computer is 2 feet away from my router. I would have rather saved even $15 instead of getting something I didn't need.

If it had wireless, did the computer have an external antenna?
