Two other Xoom questions
1) Was the SD card ever fixed - I heard at launch you could not read/write to the SD card

My Xoom came with Android 3.2.1 installed, so it can use the SD slot. Using the 'setting' then 'storage' it can see my MicroSD card. I downloaded Astro File Manager (a 3rd party Android application) and the MicroSd card works just fine. So Good-To-Go on the MicroSD slot.

BTW once the SD card was accessed via Astro, then the 'normal' applications such as 'Gallery' could find the SD card also.

Mine said approx delivery on Saturday. I saw that it arrived at FedEx SmartPost yesterday at 4pm and arrived at USPS at 7:45 this morning (Thurs 11/17). So... the mail-lady drove up a couple of hours ago and it's all mine now!!!

Seems like new... white box, refurb by Moto, but pristine!

Mine arrived today, also. A day ahead of the estimated delivery date. You can't tell by looking at it that it's refurbished - it looks just like new (except for the small refurb tag on the back of it).

Mine arrived today! A day early too! I was expecting it tomorrow. Spent a while @ lunch checking it out. Everything is in good condition, it asked to install updates a couple times right out of the box but it seems settled now. I'll play around with it some more tonight and get familiar with the whole android thing then I'll see if I can root it.

SO HAPPY for those who have received theirs. It's been a long time since I've gotten so excited about a new toy! It's reassuring that I'm in the company of nerd and nerdett's like me.

Antici[ated date of delivery is tomorrow for me.

Have fun all!

Looks like my local USPS office received the box from FedEx! At least it's in the same city now. Perhaps it will show up a day early?

Mine showed up today. Looks like new, but apparently it was never wiped. It was a unit at a radio shack somewhere, based on the pictures and video in the gallery. Luckily for whoever used it, they apparently changed their gmail and facebook password since July when they last logged in.

Note to self, when sending stuff in to repair/replace, do a system wipe first.

All I've done so far with mine is charge it up - I'll have to take a look at it to see if there is anything interesting on there left by someone else!! I'm careful about discarding old hard drives - make sure I wipe them clean.

someone else in the forum mentioned that they had an account preloaded on there xoom and it was radioshackxxx@gmail so this makes me wonder if the woot stock came from radioshacks around the world :P

Mine came from Staples. The only thing I've found left over is a 20 second video of a Staples shot from behind the customer service counter.

And while the shipping from Woot and the service from SmartPost is as good as it can get, I'm still mildly annoyed that 2nd day FedEx is gone for even a $300+ item. And without leaving a note or updating the FAQ.

Back to the Xoom. I like it, my first Android experience, and it is going well for the first day.

Got mine today! Nice! I'm a bit disappointed with the volume controls - they feel a bit harder to operate than need be. Also note a hangup when I click the microphone button in the browser to verbally enter a search into google or something.. maybe my familiarity with it all doesn't help. But overall, I'm impressed. Awesome unit!

I received my "refurbished" unit today. This was NOT refurbished. It is a "used" tablet. The tablet had someone else's apps, personal papers, gmail account, etc. I was even able to access this person's email. The auto-rotate does not work or works at the wrong time. It's useless to me. I have not had problems previously with Woot, so I am hoping this is an anomaly and they will help me out and make this right.

Been "playing" with my Xoom all day... went to charge it (have about 40% battery left) and the charger doesn't work. It appears to be putting out a few millivolts as best as I can measure on that tiny, tiny plug. Anybody else have that issue? Now I don't know what to do. I hate to spend $15-$20 for a charging cable and I also hate to have the Xoom sit with a dead battery while I wait for Motorola to replace the charger (I assume that they will under warranty). Suggestions anyone?

At that point you could of bought a refurb from newegg and gotten it last week and went to newegg about you issues. From reading the FAQ woot won't want to be bothered with your problems. I'm hoping to see mine today or tomorrow and have my fingers crossed that it is 100% working.

I am a bit confused. I know that refurbished units are used units, but many have not been wiped clean. What classifies these as refurbished vs. just simply used?

Refurbished units are generally units that have come back to the manufacturer due to a defect, and were replaced under warranty. A technician fixes whatever is wrong, then they sell them as refurbished, since they aren't technically new.

A used one would not be recertified by the manufacturer.

That being said, they usually wipe them, and I had the same issue myself. Somebody else's email and such. Oh well. The unit looks great, works fine, and doing a hard reset eliminated the previous owner's information.

If you have a Staples near you, go there. They have charging cables on clearance for $5.50. That's both AC and 12V.

If anyone hasn't stopped by their local Staples to check the clearance table, they're missing out. I went yesterday and I scored the Motorola Speaker HD Dock (retail $129.99, $91.97 on amazon) for $17ish, a DC car charger and an AC charger (retail $29.99 each) for $2.50 each, and a protective gel case (retail $29.99) for $2.50, all original Motorola accessories. For less than $25 I got over $200 worth of accessories. Now all I need is my Xoom!

The only gel cases they had were in hot pink, so I'm going to swing by another Staples today to see if they have another color. Otherwise, for $2.50, I'll use a hot pink one.

Also, I checked the Staples website and didn't see these prices, even in the clearance section, so you're going to have to visit a store.

Mine made it in today as well - I didn't wait to see if it had anyone else's stuff on it, it threw me right into an update and I had to do a hard reset. Planned on doing that anyway.

Works great, I ran out to Best Buy (no Staples in my area) and got a case and the invisible shield screen protector.

Until Later!

Well, another update on the Staples front - the deals must depend on the stores you go to. The hot pink gel case at another Staples near me was $7.50. They didn't have any chargers or docks. They did have a Motorola portfolio case on clearance for $9.99, but its original price was $20.99, so not that great of a deal. I picked it up anyway since it's black and I'm hoping I'll like it better than the gel case so I don't have to do the hot pink thing, but we'll see.

Also, according to tracking mine's out for delivery, though the estimated delivery date was the 21st.

Called Motorola this afternoon and they looked up the serial number and said I was within the 1 year warranty and they are sending out a new power cord. I also have a Droid Bionic with the A/V dock. It turns out that the dock uses the same power supply so I was able to charge the Xoom last night! Yea!

But, I noticed also that the "charging light" does not turn on (supposed to change color with amount of charge when charging) so I mentioned that to the Motorola person and she said to call back if it still fails with the new power cable... I'm sure it will, so I'll see what they do...

Now it's off to Staples to see what they have on the clearance table!

Well we have XOOM today !!

Couple of things...it did the Android update very fast and right off connecting to WiFi.

Lots of emails and contacts left on the machine from previous owner. I'd like to get rid of those BUT there are some apps that I'd like to keep. Would that be possible somehow ? I see Factory Data Reset, is that the same as hard reset. It says "erases all data on tablet."

Screen is GORGEOUS, touch is sensitive and accurate. Tablet looks brand new but has what looks like engraved "refurbished by motorola" on the back.

Get ASTRO file manager from the market. That will allow you to back up the apps (.apk files) which you could then copy to your PC. Then after doing the reset, side-load them back to the Xoom. I have not yet run through the whole process; however, I have side-loaded some apps & backed up the .apk files to my PC in preparation to root.

That's how I was on my first Woot Xoom round. J's been a while since I felt like a 7-year-old waiting foe Christmas.

BTW, mine (nee, my wife's) Xoom showed up today! One day ahead of schedule. If anything, it looks newer than my current one. No data, no dings, full battery. Woot! I just finished updating to HTK75D (3.2.1) so it's all ready for her.

Thank you sooo much for the tip! I received my xoom (my wife's x-mas present, actually) yesterday, and ran to Staples tonight. Scored two each wall chargers and auto chargers, for $2.50. They weren't labeled with those prices, but rung up that way. No docks or covers though.
