I am not 100% on this but I believe that any laptop with a 2nd gen intel CPU can use the WiDi v2.0 and achieve the full 1080p wireless streaming connection as long as you get the v2.0 adapters. Again, not 100%. If nothing else you will definitely be able to get 1080p out of the HDMI port.

That it's not max-ram, and has no bluetooth bothers me, but the keyboard layout actually bothers me more. Someone make this decision for me... Is this going to die or be obsolete in 3 months?

I pulled the trigger on this baby this morning. I haven't seen a better price on a laptop with these kind of specs EVER! I really don't understand why the RAM isn't maxed out given how cheap RAM is these days. You can get a pair of 4gig sticks for $40-$60. The bluetooth is an easy fix. Just get a USB bluetooth adaptor and you're golden. As far as the keyboard layout goes, I don't see the issue. It looks good to me.
I've also been reading about the recall on the Intel chipset that's in this thing. I'm really not worried about hat either. Any motherboard with only two SATA ports shouldn't be effected. The bloatware issue is easy enough to fix as well. I've never seen a laptop that didn't have that issue. My only worry is about the Nvidia graphics not working like it should. If the discreet graphics card on this thing craps out, at least you have the on board Intel graphics to fall back on. Just my 2 cents.

I want to get this laptop but you haven't refunded my payment yet for my last laptop I had to send back to you weeks ago. I sent a message but got a reply you received it back Nov 11 and it'll be 7-10 days before I'm refunded. If this laptop doesn't sell out can I get it when you get to refunding me? I don't have funds to get this one til I get my other $$$ back. HELP!

I sorta live in Texas. Does the sales tax on this item get tacked on because of my credit card billing address in Texas, or would shipping it to my temporary address in Missouri save me from giving Rick Perry 8% to not pay teachers with?

Yet another decent computer ruined by an awful "HD" screen...

It appears that there are no easy drop-in upgrades for the screen - not surprising given the oddball 15.3" diagonal:
http://www.screencountry.com/index.php?section=products&model=RC512-S01&brand=Samsung

Now it's been more than half a decade since the first 15" 2048x1536 panel for laptops and we've made essentially no forward progress... Sadly, the same goes for desktop displays.

Man, I was SO excited there for a moment-- but the card just is not anywhere near the power of the rest of the machine, the screen is physically small and unacceptably low resolution.

Pretty please a real gaming laptop next time?

How does the samsung laptop in the link below stack up to the one woot! is selling ?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834131197&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-NA-_-NA

I'm sure woots is superior, but the one newegg has is more in my price range.I'm also not a gamer, but I'd like something with Blu-ray, USB 3.0, and a decent sized HD that I can also use as a HTPC connected to my flat screen. Any input from those in the know would be much appreciated.

There's also this HP on newegg that looks tempting and comes with a blu ray player and same resolution?

Good evening everyone. Hope you had a tolerable Monday. I'll answer a couple questions below.

I'd also like throw out a little food for thought as we approach the holiday season. If you are buying this (or anything from any retailer), be aware of the warranty. If it's a short warranty, be sure to check the product out thoroughly before wrapping it up for the holidays. There's nothing worse than opening a gift only to find there's an issue and the warranty is already expired.

aghosheh wrote:That happened to me too this week. Paid $300 for the Xoom thinking it will go to paypal CC and lo and behold I had it out of my checking account. Whats up with that?

Sorry about that. Email service@woot.com to find out how to change your payment settings. I don't have these magical instructions.

iammarried31 wrote:What is Woot's return policy if I purchased this computer and my daughter does not find it satisfactory?

Here's the info from our FAQ on Buyer's Remorse. And as the other poster said, we do not take returns if you change your mind.

the first laptop, the samsung w01 is comparable but skimps on the discrete graphics, the cpu and the hard drive ... you can upgrade the hd, but not the other two ... for my money, depending on what u need the comp for, id get the woot one ... it's cpu an graphics will stay "current" longer...

the hp is a whole other animal ... good deal, but the processor is a bigger step down, so is the hard drive, but u do get a discrete graphics, but its less powerful than the woot ... not a bad bargain budget laptop, but in a total different neighborhood ... to me the 200 dollar difference is worth it to "future proof" the laptop ... the woot will give you more for a longer time than the hp...

my 2 cents

I should also note that the other one is slightly more expensive but I don't mind if it is the best choice for an intense gamer.

Pulled the trigger for one for my 14-year-old, who is quite concerned that it's not a desktop with a video card with more computing power than NASA had when I was his age… I hope I did the right thing.

I think the i7 CPU will be able to handle the map and animation renderings he wants to do for Garry's Mod, and the machine itself will probably handle games like Skyrim well enough.

And as much as we'd love to play Half-Life 2 Episode 3 on this thing, I'm pretty sure it'll be obsolete before Valve finishes THAT particular opus.

PS: The THIRTY30 coupon code is only available to "selected Square Trade customers". I, apparently, was not selected.

Just pulled the trigger on this thing myself. My HP laptop is on its last legs after 3 years of diligent service, and I really want a machine that can handle TOR, TF2 and City of Heroes. I'm not a hardcore gamer, but from what everyone has said it sounds like I made a good decision.

Here's hoping! Woot hasn't let me down yet!

I'm still hoping someone can tell me if this is as good a deal as a HP Pavilion DV7-6179US entertainment laptop with 750GB HD and 6 GB DDRM with 17" screen and 2.4GHZ with turbo boost technology to 3.0 GHZ. PLEASE -- someone help me here! This would be a Christmas gift for a World of Warcraft/Starcraft/Diablo player. Also, the HP has a ten hour battery life and costs $749. Which one do I get?

Hi all,

FYI

I just made the plunge and then phoned Square Trade to ask a few questions and purchase the warranty. ( 877-927-7268 = 877-warranty)

I asked for a 30% discount and the rep asked for(insisted on) a coupon code.
I gave THIRTY30 thanks to a message I found here. There was some difficulty with this and I was told it had expired but please hold the line. Eventually the agent found some way to give the 30% off.

It turns out that an Internet search for Coupons square trade yields a coupon code of WIZZARD25 for a 25% discount.

The Square Trade Web site states that warranties can be purchased up to thirty days from date of purchase for eBay and 90 for
on-line stores.

Finally, thanks to all who comment and answer questions.

I bought this laptop earlier today. Now I feel a bit worried that there would be better deals for a similar laptop for black friday.

Anyone out there (who are black friday savy) know if there would be better deals for a laptop like this?

I just want to play it on games like world of warcraft and star wars the old republic. Also like the idea it's blu ray. Other than that, I don't know much about computers.

So is there a better deal out there (for black friday?)

Been looking for a desktop replacement laptop for 6 months. Saw the same computer on woot in Aug & Oct. Told myself if the price ever hit below $600 I would pull the trigger. In for one on this deal. Thanks woot.

Couldn't find another deal with the same specs for this awesome a price. Will probably swap out the 2GB ram for a 4GB to max it at 8GB.

Otherwise, this computer will be hooked up to an external display, keyboard, mouse, and speaker so screen size, resolution, and speaker is not an issue for me.
