$448 on Amazon. Mostly positive reviews, BUT the most helpful review claims it to be a bit dissapointing.

I have this and it is worth so much more than this! I believe they had it for around $299 on newegg with a coupon code this past weekend. Great deal amazing center for home entertainment...

amazon had for 299 yesterday, was in the process of placing order, but price changed on me, and the person refuse to bring back the price.

oh well, i would really like the amazon price, for 5 dollar more you get 2 day shipping, vs woot god know when shipping.

Crap. Just bought this at newegg at the 11-11-11 special price of $299.99, although I got free shipping. I guess their return policy is a little better, but I'm out $5.

Wow, this is even cheaper than Newegg's $299 deal from the 11th.

Hmm...looks like a pretty good deal. I have an older Pioneer receiver which I thought would last me forever. Until HDMI ports were invented, that is.

1/2 the price of the receiver its self?

Definitely not fair. :-(

Sounds like AirPlay doesn't work wirelessly from ipods, ipads? The AS-BT200 Bluetooth adapter looks to be about $80. Here's

Signature oh signature, cannot think of something clever...

I've been doing research for a mid range AVR and I'll put everything important I found in one statement: This is a great AVR with great features, but the Denon AVR-1912 sounds better. And by better I mean enough to make me buy that one instead.

Can you hook a turntable to it, or do you need a preamp?

...but it still has the Ethernet port, meaning you could buy a wireless bridge (netgear makes a good one for $60 and a dual-band one for $70) and have all that functionality in a universal package that you could use for any device with an ethernet port.

I own the 1120, but was seriously considering the 1020 (the previous year's model). The main reason I went with the 1120 is that the 1120 offered web browser control while the 1020 only offered an iPhone/iPod Touch app. Since I have an Android phone, the 1120 could still be controlled by my phone. Pioneer released an Android app for the 2011 line (which this is one of), but there is also a third party Android app that controls both the 2011 models as well as the older models. I love my 1120, but this is an EXCELLENT price on the 1021 and if I didn't already own the 1120, I'd jump on this in a heartbeat. If I had some extra cash, I'd probably buy one of these for a second room.

I bought this when it first came out for about $549! This is an incredible price for this receiver.

There are a couple of downsides. The way that the receiver cycles through the various HDMI inputs is a bit dormant. But otherwise a good solid receiver. Airplay is OK. Would recommend Apple TV for $99 if you are bent upon Airplay as that offers video playback in addition to audio playback. The pioneer offers only audio playback via airplay.

You can hook a turntable to it.

madgonad

Pretty much only for the iFans since the advanced features only work with Apple hardware and iTunes.

Maybe that is why the receiver is already half off of MSRP after only being around for six months. Kind of odd since the majority of computer users run Windows and the majority of smartphones are Android. I guess that makes me in for zero. I am sure it would sell like gangbusters if there was an Apple logo on it instead of Pioneer....

for that matter - many (most? lol) who have upgraded to wireless N will have an old, but still serviceable linksys 54g sitting in a closet somewhere. do the insanely easy DDWRT upgrade, and you're in the game for free.

Um, that's the most helpful critical review so it's not surprising that it's, um, critical.

The remote control App for the iPad, iPod Touch, and iPhone works great... When it works. The last few versions have been so buggy as to render the damn thing unusable.

This is a good receiver at a great price, airplay is the icing on the cake, but the "remote control" app is flaky at best.

Is the HDMI audio passthrough (meaning I need a separate optical audio cable to hear it through the speakers instead of the TV), or does it actually play audio from the HDMI input through the speakers without any sort of foolery? I ask because my current receiver is HDMI passthrough, and it's less-than-optimal

How? There aren't any analog jacks designated "phono" (the signal's a different level; you can't use line-level jacks) and I don't see a ground connection.

I see antenna connections for FM and AM; can I connect an over-the-air HDTV antenna directly to this receiver, or do I need one of those digital converter boxes?

I am actually in the market for a low/mid priced receiver but too much i*ness is completely useless to me...

Nope, looked up the Crutchfield article, it specifically says that there's no phono input and you'll need a preamp. Sorry

Quit freaking out at the current retail prices. Newegg had this on sale on 11/11/2011 like others have stated for $299.99 with free shipping. Amazon price matched it later in the day as well and sold it at $299 for awhile as well. Check out s lick d eals for the long thread dedicated to this receiver and comparisons of others.

Probably will just have to use your tv's audio out if it has one. Doesn't seem to have an ATSC tuner.
