I've always wanted to have a pair of these, but I'm not sure a $30 pair would live up to my expectations.

...Powered with award winning EyeClops night vision technology with dual illuminators that offer long-range and stealth modes...

So, what generation of NV would these be comparable to?

You should note that they don't magnify.

And does anyone know if they're green-night vision?

I have the non-recording version. they work great and the kids love it. Makes finding stuff in the dark much easier. BUT - you do have to hold it to your face. The loop is for dangling them around your neck.

Generation X. These aren't for anyone capable of throwing around the acronym NV as a substitute for night vision.

I have the first version of the Eyeclops. While that model didn't have a very far distance, it did work. My only problem was that the picture was so bright and not adjustable that it became a bit painful after a while. Hopefully they've made improvements since then.

Years ago, Jay Leno bought a pair of (expensive) NV goggles so he could freak out his cat by finding it in total darkness. In for one.

Tempting - might want to see the animals out at night, or just to give my son a cheating edge at man hunt. What happens if you look at a light while wearing these?

nice. I wonder if you can use them with an infrared safe light for working with color film in the process of developing.

who am I kidding, nobody uses film anymore. I'm gonna sneak these into the next game of "hide'n'seek in the dark"!

I really wanted to get these for my hubby, but A LOT of the reviews on it say: They dont focus, that you can only see 5 feet in front of you and they broke easy

If Woot follows their normal trend, TOMORROW will be the wootoff...

Wouldn't make any sense to do it today, when everyone will be spending a whole lot of money on items that "seem" to be on sale at other sites.

they go from night vision, to x-ray.

Whats worth noting is that wearing these; you can be seen in the dark. Especially if someone is looking at you head on. One of the rings of LEDs will glow red. It's similar to the tech in night vision cameras used for home security.

Here is "University Wikipedius'" explanation about night vision...

For some reason, I think the guy pictured near the night glasses section would probably look like he knew what he was doing more if he was using todays woot!... the ones he has, while they could fit in his pocket, don't have the whole "I can see Russia from here" feel that these Spy Net ones do.

In anycase... for a freaky picture of a creepy military guy spying on you... look at the Wikipedia link.
