Best price I can see is $398.70 for refurbished. This is $324.99 making it a good deal. I will buy one if cyanogenmod does not release a stable mod for my $99 HP Touchpad :-/

I got the Xoom here for $30 more, so tell me it's better than this (haven't used it yet).

Plus, any apps on your phone can be easily and simply downloaded to your Tab, no extra charge. The price is great on this, it's a wonderful device, and is the lightest in its class. No-brainer in my opinion.

When you say "if you have Droid phone" - do you mean, specifically, a "Droid" or do you mean any Android-based phone?

Does this one have GPS or not. It listed in the title, but not in Features and
Specifications.

Does the wifi-only version also allow switching out the SD card for a bigger one, or is that only the 4g/wifi version?

Will this be upgradeable to ice cream sandwich? If so I believe this is an incredible buy. Considering the sensitivity of the touchscreen, the property other tabs seem to lack.

This one is refurbished!

If you want SD card slots, USB, and HDMI ports, along with a user replaceable battery, check out the Toshiba Thrive! It is the thickest tablet, but it is worth it for the added features!

Yes...ALL Samsung Galaxy Tabs have built-in GPS models and Google Maps turn-by-turn navigation.

No... Niether the Galaxy Tab 9.9 or 10.1 have microSDHC slots.

The capacity they're purchased with is all there is, unless one uses cloud storage.

Alright you win @ThunderThighs:

I just ordered a Lenovo 7" about a week ago from Best Buy for $199. The Samsung Galazy Tab would have been preferred for the most updated operating system and other features but I had to go on price. Perhaps next year Galaxy Tab.

I have several tablets, including 4 Honeycomb units, and the Toshiba Thrive is an absolute POS, with miserable battery life, and should be avoided.

As I previously posted, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9/10.1 will be one of the first tablets to receive an official Android 4.x.x/ICS upgrade.

Not as additional storage, but only as a means of transferring files from said media card.

It shouldn't really matter, as long as your phone has a hotspot feature. My G2 does and I use my Xoom with it. An iPhone with a tethering feature would work just fine too.

(Strictly speaking, I believe tethering is via a USB cable and hotspots are via wifi. Again, it's up to your phone provider and the plan you're paying for. Both tethering and hotspots are supposed to be a free feature of Android but some companies charge extra anyway.)

If anyone buys this, be sure to check out Amazon's free app of the day. Every day, they offer a free paid Android App. Many times, they are silly 99¢ games, but I have gotten a couple $15 suites for free as well as a few nice utilities.

Free is good.

'Better' is rather relative to one's uses/desires, but the Xoom does offer both a microSDHC expansion slot as well a a built-in HDMI out... Nether of which are available on the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

The trade-offs are that the Xoom is considerably heavier and thicker than the Galaxy Tab 10.1, and includes a much dimmer/duller display.

Absolutely!

These make pretty good coasters but I wouldn't use them as s cutting board because the glass really dull knives. Guests really like the changing wallpaper, which makes their drink glasses sparkle. I've also used them to serve sushi, which was a real hit. Imagine an underwater video playing on the screen (with a bubbling soundtrack) while sushi is served on top. Be care not to get soy sauce in the ports. It took me about 9 mins to clean one after than happened. The 10.1 inches is the perfect size for servinv, and 16gb seems to enhance the tastes of certain foods. And no, you can't substitute with a cheaper resistive screen because the glass or food would activate the screen. In for 3 ... perfect for Holiday entertaining.

Full disclosure: I got a review unit from Samsung because I wrote a book on Android tablets.

That said, this is my favorite full-sized Android tablet. It's thinner and lighter than an iPad, and it's got a similar flat charger that also acts as a USB connector. It's light enough to hold in one hand while you're reading eBooks and big enough to play movies nicely. The Xoom is just so big, heavy, and brick-like compared to this.

It's a re-imagined version of Android that takes the best parts of Android 2.x.x and 3.x.x along with several groundbreaking new features, to create a completely new mobile OS experience.

I've been using it for a few weeks now, and it's the finest, smoothest, most feature-laden mobile OS I've ever used.

So with the xoom, can the hdmi out allow you to stream from the netflix app to your tv? Just trying to decide if this is more worth while or the xoom. I would like to use a tablet for media streaming if possible.

I meant Android, but be careful, your phone must have tethering capabilities. Not all do. The Droid X phones do, but you can easily look up the specs on yours and see if it can be thethered...

Ice Cream Sandwich, or Android 4.0, is going to the Galaxy Nexus phone first, but it will eventually make its way to tablets. It will probably hit Xooms first. It may make its way to the Tab series. It depends on how much modification Samsung wants to do to the interface. The user interface on the Tab 7 Plus is a lot more modified than it is on the Tab 10, which is mostly straight Android Honeycomb. The camera app is slightly different, but that's about it.

Samsung had an update they were planning to push out to Tab 10s at some point this year, so they may do that first.

If you are looking for additional storage and ports, this isn't the right tablet for you. I chose the Toshiba Thrive because it has a full size SD card slot, USB port, mini USB and HDMI port. Plus the Thrive is only $379 for the 8GB version on the web brand new and you can add whatever size SD card, use a thumb drive, hard disc drive, etc. Plus it has a user replaceable battery for $80.

Outputting via an HDMI cable is not the same as 'wireless' streaming, and essentially anything that appears on the Xoom's display can be viewed when the device is connected to an external source via an HDMI cable.

Suggestion: Just keep the Xoom and enjoy.

Right, I wordededed that weird. Basically if I'm running the android netflix app on the xoom it will display the stream that the xoom is receiving on my hdmi tv input VIA xoom hdmi connection to tv?

I don't own any tablet, but if I go for one I'd like to be able to throw the image to a tv and avoid another ps3/xbox/roku and have a multi purpose tablet, thanks gang!

I am still enjoying the 5" version that I got here recently...which does allow the use of a 32GB micro SD card.
As nice as these larger ones are, I see a problem lugging it around easily, as mine slips into a pocket or fanny pack nicely.
But, damn....it is SO Star Trek!

Correct. It's important to note, however, that the resolution of the streaming video on your Android device is not nearly the resolution of your television. That being said, Netflix looks like crap on a HDTV because the app doesn't output 720/1080p video.
